I would not recommend anyone stay at this hostel. Full disclosure: we didn’t end up staying here. We checked in and got a nice tour of the hostel from a friendly volunteer. However the room wasn’t very clean and very basic and when we checked the mattresses there was clear evidence of bed bugs with black marks all over the sides of the mattresses. They were also wrapped in cling film which wouldn’t do anything against bed bugs and it was falling off it anyway. We decided to leave the property and check in somewhere else. We knew we wouldn’t get a refund as we’d paid in full through booking.com we just wanted our deposit back and to let the staff know we were leaving. Instead we had a very unpleasant interaction where the two girls at reception barely looked at us and kept saying to get a refund through booking.com (we weren’t asking for a refund just the deposit that we had given them ten minutes before) until eventually they gave us the deposit back after us asking three or four times and it was literally sitting in front of them the whole time. I wouldn’t have been overly annoyed about the issue with the beds if the staff had been remotely pleasant about it.

The hostel seemed great, they offered lots of free daily activities and people were very welcoming. However, we found bed bugs on both of our beds so we didn’t feel comfortable staying there and made the choice to leave the same day. The bugs were underneath the plastic wrapping that was on all the mattresses but the wrapping was ripped in many places so it doesn’t offer much protection. The staff was understanding and gave us a full refund, which was very nice. I hope they will take the necessary measures to resolve the issue as soon as possible.

Street dogs sleeping in the rooms, got a lot of itchy bug bites all over my body on my last night; hostel staff said it's not bedbugs because it would be dark red in the center of the bites. So maybe it's fleas from the dogs.

Sehr schöner Aussenbereich. Sehr Social. Coole Aktivitäten. Nette Leute.

Stayed here in December. The volunteers / long-time guests were all very inclusive and a blast to hang with! Agree with reviewers below that there is evidence of bedbugs- had dark spots on my mattress which left me pretty anxious! also the toilets in the bathroom splash up when another flushes - nasty!

BED BUGS! I wanted to enjoy my stay here. There’s free yoga and a beautiful view of the mountains. But most guests staying there got bed bugs including myself. When I confronted the staff they just said that the bites were not bed bugs and offered to give me new sheets. I checked out and had to clean all my belongings which took me an entire day. I’m covered in bites(confirmed bed bug bites by a pharmacist) just really sad that I chose to stay at Deejai’s it doesn’t seem at all like they are trying to solve this problem at all. Don’t expect it to be resolved by the time you stay there. I suggest just joining them for their activities unfortunately I don’t recommend sleeping there. Below I attached photos of my mattress showing bed bug feces and blood stains a sign of bed bugs. I also showed this to the front desk as they just denied everything.

Good atmosphere & the people were very chill and kind. Environment was beautiful. Blankets didn’t have bedsheets and were extremely thin - I was freezing at night. The sheets also looked dirty and the showers had mold in them. We also got bed bugs !! from here, and talked with another traveler from a different room who did too. Staff told us that they were ants or other insects when looking at them… I got visible bed bug bites. Lot’s of positives honestly but should improve on hygiene.

Good vibe, staff are nice, free yoga, beautiful view. BUT there are bed bugs. 4 ppl in my dorm got them, & some ppl in another dorm. Staff first tried to tell us they weren’t bedbugs, but we all saw them, some ppl had bites, and ppl with prior experience said they looked the same. When I asserted they def were, owner came and admitted they have a case every 3 wks. He said they were looking into long term solutions though so hopefully it gets sorted as it was otherwise a great hostel!

The toilets are bad. My room was 12 beds with two washrooms inside, which is good, but need more attention because all the time the bin was full and smelling. I think they used to clean the bin only in the morning. I stayed for 9 days, only in the last day I noticed the washroom a bit clean, but not smelling good at all. I had a lot of bites and people left in the same week because of bed bugs. I didn't see in my bed, but I had bites different of the mosquitos. I asked them to change the bedsheets.

Check your mattress for bed bugs before you sleep. We stayed at deejai November 9th and my bed was crawling with bed bugs and their eggs. I took photos and videos and slept on the floor. Alerted the staff at 8:00am when reception opened, she did not seemed phased. They changed the sheets and offered a free meal. I declined and asked for a refund, they only refunded me for half of my stay. We moved hostels and have all of our belongings cleaned and sterilized to remove bugs, which was 500 baht. The manager only gave a refund because of the photos and videos I took so be diligent. Our friends in the dorm told us that the manager came in after we left and told them “those girls are dirty this isn’t our fault”, which made me sad. I wish this didn’t happen because the people, view, activities, and vibe here are wonderful! Great place to hangout but not to stay.

Bed bugs. We stayed two nights at deejai until we heard other residents talking about bed bugs. We checked out beds and found them infested. Management switched the sheets and offered us free food. We decided to leave and asked for a refund. We were given half of our money back and had to pay 600 baht each to get all of our possessions cleaned. After we left, the manager told our dorm mates that “this is those girls fault they are dirty”, rude. This hostel has great potential if cleaned.

I booked for 3 nights & stayed for 6. That's not to say it was a totally brilliant experience. My pros and cons are below: Pros: Decent value (you get a night free if you stay for 5 nights) Great views Free yoga classes Free meditation classes Social atmosphere Decent menu (delicious moderately priced curries) Cons: They had bed bugs when I was there Poor communication by staff Some staff seemed drunk/stoned/inexperienced/wrong for the job/unhelpful/unprofessional Dorms were extremely hot and not enough fans (can't sleep on top bunk as the fans are on the floor only) Dorm had the roof of a tent (so many bugs) Out of town (20-30 min walk to town)
