Torifito Hotel & Pod Kanazawa

+ The hotel is well located and clean.

- Sadly, despite the promise of this hotel, the service and hospitality we received were just underwhelming. We deposited some clothes for laundry service, which includes washing, drying and folding. We received the clothes the next day, so we can pack before leaving on the upcoming morning. While sorting the clothes, more than a few items still had stains (deodorant and some sweat & food stains) - mainly around the stitches. When I went to see the front desk they wanted to see the dirty items. After showing them 4 different items (we had a much larger total load), they told me they needed a moment to think of a solution. 3 hours later they came to the room to tell me in person that their laundry sheet states they cannot be blamed for any washing issue. So no solution, no sympathy, no customer service and no decency to at least refund us for the service we didn't receive. Worse part - Landry cost us more than the entire stay (2 nights). I am in the hospitality business myself and have never seen such a lack of effort in resolving a client issue.

- Personnel de réception incapable de parler correctement anglais et de répondre aux attentes des clients. Impossible de parler à un manager de l'hôtel suite à un problème (le manager était disponible mais ne souhaitait pas parler au client). Complexe système de papier repas (entre le petit déjeuner si vous prenez la formule inclus ou des repas qu'ils vous offrent dans le tarif où il faut aller à deux rues dans un autre endroit etc)... un système d un autre temps

+ The location and design of the hotel was great. Breakfast is good.

- Mitsui Garden Hotel doesn't have parking although it clearly has a "parking" icon in its page in Booking. They have a deal with a nearby commercial center where you can park paying a special price of 1000 yens per day. But it is very inconvenient compared to hotels nearby or even coin parkings nearby. I booked expecting a parking lot as clearly stated in its page. And even though it is true it is mentioned if you go through the details of the FAQ, I consider this to be a gray area which doesn't benefit at all the final user. The room had scratches in the wall. The place where to put the suitcase was also scratched everywhere. There were some stains in the bathroom wall and also in one of the beds (after cleaning). We booked two rooms, in our room the AC was not working properly unless you put the card, so the room was very hot when getting in at first, then we had to tweak it to work normally for Japanese summer. In other hotels I have been, the room AC is set before hand to a normal temperature and remains like that as baseline unless the guest change it. In summer in Japan, getting very tired into a hot room is not a pleasant feeling. The checking took a really long time as the lady was confused with the reservation name, even if I booked through booking and all the information was clear. On top of it, she forgot to give us the breakfast vouchers for the second day so we had to go again and request them. The laundry has only two washing machines. Given the amount of people in the hotel, we couldn't find a time when both were not being used. The second day we had to queue for breakfast for a few minutes. I truly believe in the omotenashi in Japanese hotels, and with many people from the service I got a very good feeling, food was good too... But there were too many unfortunate details that made our experience not very great for the price we paid and the quality we were expecting.

- Facilities for dinner and breakfast were inadequate. On our first night the restaurant was closed for a private function. As we were a group of five it wasn’t easy finding near by. At breakfast we were told we had to wait 20 min before we could be seated which was no good as we were catching a train. Frustrating given we had prepaid for breakfast.

- Way over priced. More like budget hotel with a much higher price tag. Towels, bedding, plastic shower curtain were the type you’d find in The Premier Inn chain in the U.K. not known for luxury. Breakfast was very expensive and 2/3 Japanese food with not much Western food. There was nowhere in the hotel foyer to sit and relax. The bedroom was very small even though it was a twin room. There were no cups or glasses or kettle in the room and no mini bar. Also the walls were a gloomy black as was the furniture. The dining room was very cramped and people were crowded in. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel at this price.

- 駐車場がホテルから離れている。 たまたまナビが、裏に案内したので、裏のパーキングに停めた。

+ The room was large and clean. The public bath was clean and relaxing. Very nice!

+ Great restaurant on site, we ate dinner there two nights! So yum! Nice staff. Good comfy room.

+ The room was big as well the bathroom. The onsen was excellent with nice views to the city and everything you may need for personal care. The coffee and tea in the room was refilled every day

- Cramped bedrooms. Nowhere to put away clothes. Aggressive agricultural airconditioning.
