+ The price and location are great.
- The mattress so thin that I could feel the springs underneath; the sheets and blanket they provide aren’t quite large enough to entirely cover you; neither the light nor the fan in my bed cubby worked, and when I told the dude at the front desk, he just apologized and said there were no other beds to move me to and did not offer to send someone to check or fix them; the overhead fluorescent room lights stay on all night long automatically and you cannot turn them off for longer than like five minutes; the “work spaces” throughout the building consisted of HALF-desks (it’s the only way I can describe them!)—they were, like, ledges or “concepts of a desk—not even large enough for my full-sized laptop—VERY weird and not particularly functional: but the WORST part was that the curtain on the bed cubby covers less than half the bed, so you have zero privacy!! I had to choose either my top or bottom half to be behind the curtain and just deal with the other half being visible to all. (I was the only female in a room with three males because the women-only floor was already booked for both nights I stayed, and this made me feel both unsafe and uncomfortable! I could not relax at this hostel.

- The staff’s behavior was unprofessional and significantly impacted my entire trip to New York City. I was denied access to my room after informing the staff that my loctician would be arriving to style my hair, which would only take approximately 10 minutes. Despite my advance notification, a staff member informed me that I was permitted to proceed. However, my stylist arrived only two minutes later, and a staff member abruptly informed me that I had to leave the premises. While the room’s price was reasonable and check-in was straightforward, the room I occupied was not adequately cleaned. The sheets were stained and emitted an unpleasant odor. Overall, the experience was highly unsatisfactory.

- No sense of hygiene or manners in roommate- hair found on toilet seat, entering the bathroom while I was trying to use it. Yelled at me when I got a call and then complained about me. Staff refused to know my side of the story- would never stay here again even it was all paid for.

- The room had no curtains, there was a light above my bed that turned on by a motion sensor and there was no covering where it didn't shine directly in my face, there was no temperature control, at night I felt sick from the heat in the room, there was a lot of noise from the street.

- staff (or someone else) broke into my locker without my consent bc someone cheched out and checked back in as me. bo one informed me…. the receptionist was extremely unhelpful. when i had a panic attack that my stuff was stolen he told me to CALM DOWN?!! and then a guest yelled in my face saying slurs and the receptionist let them threaten me FOR HAVING A PANIC ATTACK?!!! they asked me multiple times to repay for the room i already paid for, did nothing to help me but try and tell me that i needed to calm down. it was the most horrible experience. they did nothing about the random woman who yelled in my face and threatened me for having a panic attack, they did not apologize for breaking and entering into my locker for no reason without my consent or for anything. it was horrible. but i also need to say that there was another very sweet and nice receptionist who i wish worked that night… if you ever have an issue, tough luck. they wouldn’t even refund me…

- I was removed from this hostel at around 1:00 AM after complaining to a staff member in the common area. I did use the f-word, but not directed at anyone personally. but I did not yell, threaten, or disturb other guests in any way. There was no scene. I simply expressed frustration, as anyone would after feeling ignored and mistreated. Instead of handling the situation professionally, the staff escalated it dramatically. The manager falsely claimed I had “caused a disturbance,” and proceeded to have me ejected without a refund. I had paid in full for my stay through Booking.com and had not broken any laws or hostel rules. This decision was made purely out of retaliation for speaking up. I am a female traveler alone, and they put me out on the street in the middle of the night — in New York City — with no WiFi, no SIM card, no way to charge my phone, and nowhere to go. It was not only unprofessional — it was reckless and dangerous. I was left completely vulnerable in a foreign city with no way to contact anyone or secure safe lodging. I ended up having no choice but to sleep on the New York City subway, an experience that no guest — especially a solo woman — should be subjected to because a business can’t handle negative feedback. When I contacted the police for support, the situation became even more disturbing. While the officers were speaking with the hostel staff, I witnessed the staff offer them free or discounted stays for themselves and their friends. The police accepted, and despite my calm demeanor and valid complaint, they escorted me out...

- The staff! The maid was extremely rude. I was in the chill room and she’s was being a really jerk. I was using the door stop to keep the door 1/2 way open and she slammed it open and said it had to stay all the way open, which is weird and open to the common area. She had a serious attitude and for this, I will not be coming back. Why be rude and the door was open, just blocking others from seeing me in the massage chair. Oh well, she got to “use her little bit of power” in the workplace. Steer clear of the staff here.

did the job, not much of a community vibe as it were but a clean, comfortable and safe place to spend a night.
This place was great for the price! It’s super close to the subway and lots of good food. I was able to check in online before I arrived which sped everything up. Beds were comfy and the blankets were great! The towels were clean and I had respectful dorm mates. I brought earplugs which I used, and an eye mask for which I did not see a need. I will definitely be happy to stay here again!
As a hostel, I have nothing to complain about. The location is amazing, less than 10 min walk to Times Square and closest station. Hotels this area costs at least $150/day, which I prefer to spend on other stuff. The facility is well maintained, the bed is super clean, with towels and pillows provided. The shared bathroom was also super clean. Spotless. I shared a room with 3 other people, but they were all very respectful of each other's. I'd definitely come back when I visit NY again.
