It is very expensive for the quality offered. I booked a private room that was not smelling well, there is only one shower and toilette (these were clean) per flor and the infrastructure in general requires maintenance.
Overall good but I would never stay there more than a night. The room was WAY to hot (in winter) bc of the heater. Impossible to sleep. Bed really uncomfortable. Good location, breakfast for free is amazing !!!
Private room w/ two beds: Tiny room with musty smell. The window opened up to a brick wall with limited air flow (no light). The window unit A/C did an OK job cooling but was unbearably loud. The sheets and towels were clean enough. the shared lounge is nice, but very small. All in all, not a very pleasant place to spend time in, but if you are looking for a clean bed and shower while spending your days outside, the generous breakfast and low rates make a good solution for travelers on a budget

Uncomfortable mattress (1/2, feeling of springs on the mattress). Uncontrollable air conditioning (too hot or too cold). Lunch is correct (fruits).
Nice Staff, but way too expensive for these mini rooms and the toilet situation is terrible.
Dirty bed sheets and bunks. Also I was not able to regulate the AC which was annoying. Right next to the hostel is a big station of the US postal service meaning there are constantly trucks going in and out causing lots of noise. If you have a room facing the street like we did-RIP Tiny rooms and in the 3rd floor (at least in my room) there was bad wifi. Enough to send WhatsApp messages but not enough to open websites etc… Cleanliness and comfort 2/10 Staff and location 9/10
Positive point: the women present during the day was nice, the hotel is located in a nice area. To improve: I arrived at 10pm due to a plane delay and there was no one to answer the doorbell or phone number given when there should be staff. I stood in the street for a long time until a night guard finally answered that he wasn't there. He gave me the code and hung up on me. Hygiene: The sheets had already been used and there were no towels. The number of toilets and showers is not sufficient.
The breakfast at this hostel is amazing with fresh strawberries, blueberries, grapes, croissants, donuts, cereal, tea & coffee. Our room was small and sparce. The kitchen was basically with 1 hotplate and a few pans, fridge & sink. The shower and shower room were tiny with nowhere to put your towel and clothes except on the toilet. The space for the toilet was miniscule. There are no hand basins in the shower or toilets.
This was a fine experience. Not a lot of activity. Beds were not comfortable. Free breakfast items were nice. Not very social. Good location. Affordable.

The American Dream hostel was a fantastic experience. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful, especially with late check-in, going out of their way to assist us. The place was spotlessly clean, well-located, and the breakfast offered in the morning was excellent. I would wholeheartedly recommend this hostel to anyone looking for a comfortable and welcoming stay.
Ostello pulito, centrale, ben organizzato. Il personale è gentile e disponibile, la colazione è veramente ottima e ricca. L'unico difetto che abbiamo riscontrato è stato il pavimento della stanza in pendenza. In generale la struttura andrebbe un pò restaurata. A parte questo dettaglio, super consigliato!!!!
Hostel clean, central, well organized. the staff is kind and helpful, the breakfast is really excellent and rich. the only defect we found was the floor of the room in pendenza. in general the structure would need a little restoration. apart from this detail, super consigliato!!!!
It was my second stay at the American Dream Hostel. Staff is very friendly and they serve every morning fresh breakfast! Good and great atmosfeer, in this busy city.
Skipped an expensive hotel and stayed at American Dream for 2 nights. Not luxury digs by any means, but clean and walking or subway distance to everything. Spent the money saved on delicious grub and experiences. Made the whole trip feasible for us!

The location of this place is great for getting around Manhattan. My biggest criticism is the heaters in the rooms are not able to be turned off, this lead to the room being far too hot for the duration of our stay. If they can fix this issue, this is a great hostel
Perfect place to crash in for few days. Loved the fruity breakfast. Clean but small rooms. Two helpful girls at reception helped carry my luggage to 2nd floor and down.
La atención del personal en general muy buena. La ubicación es estupenda. Es incómodo por haber muchas escaleras y estrechas. Además que las duchas y váter son compartidos, Habitaciones mínimas y con mal aislamiento del ruido. Pero son calentitas, el desayuno muy generoso y la limpieza excelente. Muy recomendable.
The attention of the staff in general very good. the location is great. it is uncomfortable because there are many stairs and narrow ones. besides that the showers and toilets are shared, rooms are minimal and with poor noise insulation. but they are calentitas, the breakfast is very generous and the cleanliness is excellent. highly recommended.
This is a great location. The staff is very friendly and the breakfast is very good. I also liked that the kitchen was open for snacks, coffee etc. There are a lot of stairs, no elevator. The rooms facing 3rd Ave can be loud. I would definitely come back I would probably ask for a first floor room.
very comfortable place to stay after a long day exploring NYC. the breakfast is very good and it will fuel your morning. the bed was comfy and the hostel was quiet. a bit of street noise that was ok with earplugs. the staff was very nice too. good connections with transport. the location is great to walk around Manhattan. would stay again!

Ubicación 10 puntos, el desayuno fenomenal, nunca tuvimos que esperar siquiera para lavarnos los dientes, buena cantidad de baños y duchas, silencioso, y muy ordenado y limpio, nos íbamos a las 17:00hs nos permitieron dejar el equipaje y bañarnos luego del checkout. 10 puntos
Location 10 points, the phenomenal breakfast, we never had to wait even to brush our teeth, good amount of bathrooms and showers, quiet, and very tidy and clean, we left at 5pmh allowed us to leave the luggage and take a bath after checkout. 10 points
Posizione e colazione spettacolari. Per quanto riguarda le camere i letti non sono comodissimi e c’è un bagno condiviso per piano ma non é mai stato un problema farsi la doccia o altro. Personale molto disponibile. Lo consiglio se si vuole vistare New York ad un prezzo accessibile e senza troppe pretese.
As for the rooms and beds they are not very comfortable and there is a shared bathroom by the piano but it has never been a problem to show the shower or anything. very helpful staff. i recommend it if you want to visit new york at an affordable price and without too much pretence.
Nous avons été ravis de ces quelques jours passés dans cet établissement et nous y retournerons lors de notre prochain séjour ds la vile. L’emplacement est idéal proche de différents stations de métro à pied. Le petit déjeuner est super. Et le personnel adorable. Les chambres sont un peu vétustes mais on ne reste au final dans la chambre que pour dormir et la literie est bonne. Prévoyez quand même des boules quies pour les plus sensibles au bruit car on entend pas mal les bruits d...
We were delighted with these few days spent in this establishment and we will return there during our next stay in the city. The location is ideal close to different metro stations on foot. The breakfast is great. And the staff is adorable. The rooms are a little old-fashioned but we end up staying in the room only to sleep and the bedding is good. Nevertheless, make sure to provide some quiescent balls for the most noise sensitive as you can hear the sounds of the street quite well.
Un hostal 10/10. Buena ubicación, el personal muy amable, un desayuno súper completo y de calidad (café en cápsulas y 24h, máquina de hielo, tienen hasta neveritas de playa por si las necesitas) y hasta TV en la habitación. En conclusión, una maravilla. Si vuelvo a NY repetiré seguro!!
A hostel 10/10. good location, very friendly staff, a super complete and quality breakfast (cafe in capsules and 24h, ice machine, they even have neveritas de playa for if you need them) and even TV in the room. in conclusion, a marvel. if i come back to ny i will repeat it for sure!!

The common areas where nice, and the breakfast was amazing! The staff was also very nice. The room however was quite bad, it had a bad smell and it was very small. There were also very few plugs and shelves/hangers.
Estuvimos 3 días, remarco la atención de las chicas, Hanna "creo que así se escribe" nos prestó su teléfono celular para arreglar un conflicto con United Airlines durante toda la mañana, a su vez hicimos muchas compras por Amazon que ellas amablemente recibían. El Hostel super completo, la habitación pequeña pero tiene todo lo que prometen. Los baños muy limpios. La cocina pequeña pero con todo lo necesario y el desayuno muy bueno. Excelente la ubicación!!!!! Super recomendable.
We stayed 3 days, I noticed the girls' attention, Hanna "I think that's how it's spelled" lent us her cell phone to settle a conflict with United Airlines all morning, in turn we did a lot of shopping on Amazon which they kindly received. The hostel super complete, the small room but has everything they promise. The bathrooms very clean. The small kitchen but with everything necessary and the breakfast very good. Excellent location!!!!! Super recommended
