This was my worst hostel experience thus far, avoid at all costs. I am a seasoned traveler and have stayed at many hostels, this was the worst customer service experience I have had. I checked in with a friend, they charged her the correct amount and showed her the credit card processer. When I went to pay, they didn’t show me the processer,I asked to see it and they were attempting to overcharge me by 32. Completely dishomest. checked into our (dirty) room there were no sheets on the bed.

At check-in, which took far too long and where we were provided no information about the facility, the two attendants blatantly attempted to charge half the party €30 more for the same reservation. When this was called out, they were not apologetic. The room did not include clean sheets, or hand soap. We paid for breakfast and were not told it was only served until 10. Again, they were not apologetic for the lack of communication and tried to blame us.

The place looks nice on pictures.. however, the pool and restaurant were not open, and the staff was absolutely no help with trying to find another place to eat. I also asked to be refunded some of my money, that I payed to stay here, because of the lack of promised facilities. This was not an option. Staff unfriendly and rooms, common areas and kitchen were dirty. Would BOT recommend this place!

I am very concerned that a hostel of this quality is still in operation. Our room was mouldy and smelt extremely bad. It was not fit for purpose and a night in the room would make someone very very ill. It is not accessible for those with difficulty climbing stairs. Staff in the restaurant forgot our orders and had to be chased several times (restaurant was empty). We couldn’t wait to leave. Save your money and avoid this place. Not social at all either.

So my laptop was robbed at this hostel from the hostel locker under the bed. Somebody either had a spare key or knew how to open it and put it back. When i reported to the reception,they told me there are cameras outside the dorm but they can only be viewed with police officers. I reported it to the police but never heard back anything, maybe they have more urgent cases but i would’ve expected more help and support from the hostel. They never offered to reimburse anything.

Terrible communication and service I lost my flight and tried to contact the hostel multiple times, but they never replied. Instead, they canceled my booking without warning, leaving me stranded during Carnival season. When I arrived, they offered no help, and the staff doesn’t speak English or Spanish. The location is also far from everything. Would not recommend.

All the "facilities" were closed for private events 2 out of the three days we were there. Staff were mostly unhelpful and unfriendly. "Catering facilities" are just a fridge and a microwave. Internet went down for our last day and a half.

I was late to my booking, which I had notified jo&joe of via email. They did not respond and when I was finally able to arrive I found out they had sold my bed to someone else and did not have an alternative option for me. The reception were less than helpful and I was told to email their finance department for a refund on my deposit… which I still haven’t had a response to. Two expensive taxi journeys wasted to go to and from. Wouldn’t recommended this place to anyone.

They tried to over charge us, I had to pull up the amount I owed and tell them again and again that the deposit was what I already paid & they kept saying no it’s tax that you need to pay, I obviously didn’t pay it but still thought this was really strange, the WiFi is awful!! The fact they have no kitchen is also sooo bad, you can refill your water in the restaurant but they literally just use the tap I’m not sure how good that is, only 2 USB’s in the room worked out of 8, traffic is so...

My room was filled with mold and mildew. I knew from the second i opened the door to my room. It smelled like mold and mildew so bad that I couldn't even sleep there. I went and slept at a friends Airbnb couch thats how bad room 11's mold issue it. They need to fix that ASAP.

The hostel is very beautiful, has very nice rooms and beds. It’s very big though, too big to connect with other travelers. It’s very nice if you’re traveling groups for solo traveling it’s not social enough

Super nice! Very clean and safe. A bit from the beach but 300m from the train up to Christ the Redeemer so in that sense perfect.

Leider wirkte das Hostel etwas verwahrlost. Das Personal war leider auch etwas unorganisiert. Ich musste 3 Mal das Zimmer wechseln. Küche leider sehr minimalistisch ausgestattet.

Good hostel, it feels almost like a hotel. Rooms are clean and really nice, it’s just up the block from Christ redeemer which is also cool. Would consider staying again but would possibly choose somewhere in Santa Teresa where there’s bars etc

Adoro e sempre me hospedo nesse lugar. Minha única sugestão seria de reservarem o número da cama, pois por ordem de chegada dessa vez fiquei na beliche de cima o que para mim não é nada confortável devido a problema no joelho. Fiz esse pedido com antecedência mas o atendente disse não ser possível atender, mas já consegui de outras vezes. Já me hospedei no Joe&joe de outros países onde na reserva já sabemos o número da cama, inclusive temos opção de escolha.

Nice property, felt very safe, great place to launch from. A lot of the staff seemed annoyed whenever they had to get involved with the visitors in any way, they were for the most part not very nice. That was a pity, but the property itself was very nice!

Super établissement, je recommande totalement, literie super ( un peu dur mais mieux qu’un matelas qui touche les lattes), prise etc à disposition, espace privé dans le lit, 2 douches et 2 toilettes dans la chambre, le ménage est fait tout les 2 jours tapis de douche changé, 2 piscines, énormément d’espace, très bonne restauration à prix abordable, l’auberge est en collaboration avec le groupe accor donc n’hésitez pas. Eu amei! Todos os funcionários atenciosos e fofos. O lugar é lindo, bem grande, com uma historia rica, é legal explorar o lugar. Tem bastante ambiente para socializar. Fica pertinho do bondinho do cristo e a 15min de carro das praias (melhor pegar moto por conta do transito). É um bairro seguro, mas sabe né, é RJ…

Jo&Joe came with a very good reputation, and the facilities, location and general aesthetics did not disappoint. However, I was disappointed with bedrooms. I stayed in a private twin room, and given you are paying a premium over other hostels the rooms were fairly standard. The most annoying part was that the mattresses were as hard as a rock. Apart from that, staff were great, the atmosphere was social and the common areas are very good.

Rooms are kinda small but still is fine

The most beautiful hostel, the architecture, the details, very pretty. Very big hostel, slot of little houses, the pool is warm and you can swim at any time

No es tan genial como se ve en las fotos, mi habitación tenía poca luz y no estaba demasiado limpia, pero eb general no está tan mal
