- La encargada es la peor persona q me encontré en toda costa rica prepotente déspota y mal educada trataba al personal a gritos y de mala persona por todo el hotel se oían sus gritos por las emisoras de los trabajadores teníamos pensión completa y la cena era de 7 a 8 solo una hora el bufet q eso es otra ni bufet se le puede llamar a eso, teníamos un tour nocturno contratado de 6 y 30 a 8 y 30 y fuimos hablar con ella para decirle q si nos podía guardar la cena para cuando llegáramos y nos dijo q no q solo era de 7 a 8 y le dije y entonces no cenamos ya q no había donde poder comer en el hotel y me dijo q era así y q el tour q cogimos era malo como ellos no lo vendía en el hotel pues ese no servía como q teníamos q quedarnos allí y no hacer nada vamos y hablando de mala forma no se como pueden tener una encargada así allí lo peor bueno q al final me tuve q cabrear porq fue la única forma de bajarle lo humos q a mi no me iba hablar como hablaba a sus empleados y cuando llegamos del tuor un empleado nos estaba esperando porq nos guardo algo para cenar ,la verdad q los empleados son lo mejor muy amables pero debería quitar a la jefa esa no merece estar ahí no volvería a quedarme ni gratis en ese sitio no lo aconsejo para nada el peor de toda costa rica esa mujer es una bruja de verdad lo digo trata a los empleados como basura pobrecillos.
+ The swimming pool was nice and big. The reception staff were helpful and accommodating when we asked to cut short our stay and did not charge us for the night we didn't stay.
- Our room was damp all the time - no glass windows at all, just insect screens, with curtains for privacy (which just made the room dark and gloomy. "Free toiletries" were very low quality, shower gel in particular was useless. The entire site had a dated, neglected feel and the food and drink served was, barring one or two individual dishes, the worst we have ever had in a hotel. It was really poor quality and available options were very limited indeed. On arrival, we bought a "smoothie" at the pool bar, at US$5 each; it was condensed milk, ice and a splash of mango syrup. Getting to the hotel is an ordeal - minimum boat trip of 75 minutes. It's not clear on the hotel website that if you stay here, you are stuck in the hotel unless you catch a boat (free shuttle or 'water taxi'. We paid £120 per night and expected food and facilities to match that price. We would rate this hotel as 2-star at best, it's hugely overpriced for what it offers.
I booked and received a confirmation for a superior room via hostelworld. When we arrived at Rana Roja I was told I had booked a standard room and there were no superior rooms left. The standard room was ugly and very basic and the entire hotel is very run down. I would not go back. I would like to point out that staff was very friendly.
No hot water on The Room. No wifi anywhere but The restaurant. Toilets doesn’t work most if The time. Furniture is Old and not maintained. One of our beds broke during our stay so we had to move to another room. Still problems with toilet although different type of problem, second room had hot water though. The neighboor hotel has a nice pool you Can use and The food is good but often not enough for everyone and Price is not very cheap. No apoligies or anything, so we wouldn’t recommend it.
+ Del hotel en si, nada! todo lo bueno que pueda decir es de la naturaleza y los animalitos, porque el sitio es precioso. Por decir algo bueno lo que servian para comer estaba bueno aunque muy poca variedad.
- Practicamente nada!! instalaciones viejas y mal cuidadas, personal poco atento e incluso desagradable, habitacion y zonas comunes sucias, el los traslados siempre con mucho retraso,... Estavamos deseando irnos de alli!!

- Het lijkt erop dat het personeel er niet zoveel zin in heeft. Ongezellig restaurant. Bars slecht bemand. Je kunt niet even lekker een ijsje scoren. Kamers basic. Bij ons ontbrak 1 van de 2 stoelen op de porch; gemeld, maar geen stoel meer ontvangen.

+ לא קיבלנו את החדר שראינו בתמונות, מחיר המלון לא מוצדק, התחזוקה גרועה, ורוב החדרים מיושנים וזקוקים לשיפוץ יסודי. ביום השני העבירו אותנו לחדרים המשופצים. גם בחדרים האלו היו בעיות, המראה בחדר היתה ישנה והרוסה. בחדר של הבת שלי המים בכיור ובמקלחת היו מי גופרית.
+ It’s a quick 5 minute boat into the town. Buddha cafe has a lovely menu and great views of the river… I’d definitely recommend eating here over the hotel. Has trips available which are very good.
- If you’re after a real outdoorsy experience then this may be for you. Instead of did glass for windows it is just meshing. Not ideal when it’s raining. It’s impossible to keep anything dry, the bedsheets bath towels, clothing etc all damp. First big red flag was being warned not to take any food at all into your room because of the monkeys. I love monkeys, but if they can break into your room for food then a human can get in twice as easy, so leaving anything in the room without fear of it being stolen wasn’t possible. Again, a rainforest I get it. But the bugs that get into the room are on a whole other level. Having ants army of ants make their way through your room doesn’t scream 4* The bathrooms are dated and grotty. Smells very damp. The toiletries provided are very poor quality. All meals are served from behind a Perspex screen. By the most unhappy team members. It’s like being in prison. You can even get your own glass of water or juice. One of the pools is essentially river water I think? Absolutely gross. And if it shouldn’t have been like it, then there was no signage to say it was out of order.
+ Location is amazing, we had a very large room with large bathroom, breakfast was nice with freshly cooked eggs etc, plenty of choice, the surrounding gardens and lounge area was beautifull and very well kept
- We knew it had no Windows and I was looking forward to hearing the sound of the animals in the Forest. But unfortunately all we heard was the engines of the boats going up and down the Canal, people arriving with suitcases rolling over the pavement, the conversations of people arriving at all hours of night ... And the water of the gutter of the roof falling like a stream on the pavement, it's was like a tap leaking, good thing we don't have a weak bladder. And we visited in the dry season. We didnt hear any monkeys or birds. I would definitely prefer a room in a hotel with windows next time so I can leave them open but have the opportunity to close when disturbing. We also had the light of the path shining straight into our room and there are no blackout curtains (rooms 29 and 30 are apparently thé largest but ask a room at the back).

+ The grounds are extensive, with raised walking paths, surrounded by lush growth, home to many species. A wonderful location to forest bathe along the river and canals. The staff was top notch, courteous, helpful and knowledgeable.
+ Nice location with a pool. Easy to use the free boat shuttle at the provided times. Very friendly and helpful personal
- Breakfast, and mainly dinner (which is a buffet) not of very high quality

+ Being in the jungle and close to the water. The bar area where we could watch the action on the water. The spa facilities were fantastic. The reception staff are exceptional and most helpful.
- No coffee making facilities or hair drier in the rooms.

+ Très jolis bungalow ouverts sur la jungle , personnel très agréable , idéal pour dormir aux chants des animaux , petit dej correct . Bateau Navette gratuite suivant disponibilité pour le village
- La nourriture mauvaise , le prix affiché des repas compte tenu de la qualité . Pas de menu enfant . Pas de menu sans gluten malgré la demande de l'hôte si allergie alimentaire .

+ The staff were amazing. Really helpful and arranged everything we needed. The breakfast was excellent and they arranged for us to have it early before we left as we were leaving before normal service. Rooms were clean and beds comfortable. Thin walls and no windows (just fixed mesh).
- Quite noisy at times. Not a problem from the jungle/natural noises, but people were quite loud. Quite a large group of students and an American tour arrived, and while they weren't being intentionally loud, the amount of people meant more noise. Also leaf blowers quite early on. There weren't any wildlife walks around the lodges which was a shame, although we did see some things.

+ L'emplacement au milieu de la jungle, au milieu de la rivière avec les animaux et assez grand pour ne pas être dans une foule de turistes. L'endroit est juste magnifique. Le bruit des animaux de la jungle et de la pluie la nuit (car pas de fenetres, juste de mousticaires. La piscine était très agréable.
- La nourriture du restaurant. Le standing de l'hotel et le prix laisse penser à des variété et de plats plus élaborés. Toujours les mêmes entrées, juste deux plats au choix et pas d'une qualité extraordinaire. Vu la qualité et la variété de toutes les autres restaurants que nous avons pu faire au Costa Rica pendant notre sejour, nous sommes très déçus de celui de l'hôtel Evergreen, qui était de loin le moins bien. Tous les repas étaient compris, mais sans les boissons. La chambre était assez petite pour 4 personnes.

+ Die Häuser im Regenwald waren super. Man Schläft im Wald.
- Da Essen war ok, aber im Vergleich zu anderen Unterkünften in Costa Rica nicht herausragend.
+ Beautiful setting, we loved the cottages nestled in the middle of the rainforest. Falling asleep to the sounds of animals was a truly special experience. Nice pool area.
- Unfortunately, the toilet was blocked and we had to ask for assistance three times before the issue was addressed. The restaurant has room for improvement, and while the area is clean, it feels rather cold and not very cozy. Dining there felt more like being in a canteen than a welcoming restaurant atmosphere.
