Athens Hub Hostel

PLEASE READ. There are no privacy curtains on the bed in the mixed dorms. The showers are not free flowing, they turn off after 30 seconds like a water fountain. The bed was supposedly “cleaned” just before ai had entered my room, and I had found dirt and bugs in the bed. I had travelled for over 30 hours prior and desperately needed some sleep, yet I was unable to due to how uncomfortable the beds were. They claim to have air-conditioning in the rooms but they are subpar. The beds are very uncomfortable and the pillows offer no support for sleep. The vending machine in the common room electrocutes you upon touching the key pad. The location is not as good as people lead you to believe. Yes it it close to the beach, but it is extremely far away from the beautiful streets and bustling life that you associate with a trip to Barcelona. It is situated in more of a business district which is impossible to tell from looking at Google maps when booking. The reception staff are extremely rude to people who don’t speak Spanish. Instead of doing their jobs and checking you in, the force you to do it yourself via email while you wait in line. I was lucky to be one of the first in line, but I saw at least 20 people waiting in the lobby to check in because of this stupid and slow system. I promptly booked another accommodation and check out of the hostel. I had voiced my displeasure to staff, albeit passively, and they were extremely dismissive and offered no refund. I cannot stress this enough, do not book this absolute hell-hole of a location. I have stayed in hostels in the middle of nowhere in South East Asia that where cheaper and nicer than this place.

the hostel's location is amzing walking distance to everywhere; also so close from metrostation which made coming and going to the airport so easy I faced one issue, there are sbed bugs, I killed ones and I had some aching in some parts of my body neck, ankles, I wasn't sure what it was ; but if they will take more care about cleanileness it will be perfect; otherwise everything is good

I got bitten by bed bugs my first night staying at the hostel. I went to the doctor and they confirmed they were bed bugs. The hostel staff did help me find a clinic nearby which was nice. And the location was great since it is right in the downtown. But I would have hoped to stay at a hostel where I did not get bitten by bed bugs. I lost a full day of my trip that was only two days long dealing with getting medical treatment. This hostel needs to improve in the cleanliness of their facilities.

there was a bed bug in one of the beds. We notified the front desk and emailed a picture; no action was taken.

It was great location and overall good hostel, unfortunately I found bed bugs when I got home :(. I really hope that this reaches the staff and they can solve this issue.

Unfortunately, I was bit by bed bugs at this hostel. I discovered it just after leaving Athens, so I wasn't able to inform the staff. I thought I should mention it here so they can take action. Everything else was great. Perfect location. Nice and clean. There's not much of an atmosphere at all, but that was expected based on the reviews.

It is in a good location, but I found bed bugs. The night staff were very helpful by assisting us with using their laundry machine. Hopefully they got someone to come exterminate the room, I didn’t get an update from the morning staff.

I stayed there for two nights and had an excellent experience. The hostel is located in a very central location within a short walking distance from the Agoras and acropolis. The privacy curtains on the beds were a major plus. Contrary to past guests, I'm glad to update that I encountered no bed bugs. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The only drawback is some noise from the street, which can be signficantly reduced if you shut the windows, and I found it tolerable (and I'm quite sensitive)

FULL OF BEDBUGS

After discovering bed bugs in my bed, the male staff member on duty looked at my bed, simply confirmed my check out date then left. I went back downstairs to ask about a refund, to which he stated “I cannot, ask my manager.” I again asked what can be done, to which he again stated, “I cannot do anything, I do not handle money”. He gave me the hostel business card and told me to send an email. After asking for plastic bags, another staff member assisted, and after asking for a towel, I was provided one. I have never encountered such a lack of basic customer service, no, sheer lack of basic human communication from this particular male staff member before. Later, a man, who I believe was the manager, offered his many apologies and gave me my refund, and asked if there was anything else he could do. This was all I had expected/ desired. I would stay here again, if the first staff did not.
