Great location, near a tram stop, and in a lovely, quiet neighborhood. The ladies' dorm was comfortable and relatively quiet. I only spent one night there, and left early in the morning, so I can't speak to the atmosphere much, but the beds were comfortable, with nice duvets and clean bedding. No issues with bed bugs or any hygiene concerns.

The staff and location were wonderful. The bed didn’t look clean and when I lifted the mattress to put the sheets on there was dust, food crumbs and a bit of a torn wrapper. However, this is typical of most hostels (definitely not ones that are £70+ a night) the actual horror started when i woke up at 4am when I woke up feeling itchy, only to realise i had bed bug bits on my arm and thigh. But by then it was too late to do anything about it. Avoid if you want to get a good night’s sleep

I regret supporting this establishment and I won't be back. Staff fine. Owner is the issue. But I'm blocked from saying why because of censorship on this platform. Good reviews are solicited (you get free tea or coffee) which I'm pretty sure is not allowed. Also - bed bugs :( wish I had read reviews before booking and not been suckered in by the (solicited, and therefore untrustworthy) high rating

Bed bug 🐛 multiple of us saw the bugs, I brought to evening reception the bug and the bites of my body. Only to receive e-mails saying no refund because they tried to hide the fact there's bed bugs going on. The whole stay was horrible. The two Taiwanese girl staying at 4 floor are very definitely mentally unwell. I don't how can this property ignore the fact I've been got infected. I'll definitely call the police 🚓 and pray for karma for justice

I was satisfied with the service in the hotel. They are very good at cleaning. You can get new bed linen and towels whenever you want. There are no bedbugs, I have never seen. Staff are tolerant towards foreign tourists. I plan to come again next year and I plan to stay at Bee hotel again. Thanks to employees.

Being a first timer staying in a hostel, would say this place is an excellent choice. Pristine clean beds and bathrooms. Was apprehensive of the bed bug issues posted by other users. But I didn’t encounter any. Beds were so comfortable and long enough for a 6.2 tall guy. Curtains provide you the much needed privacy. Room had an AC but at times in the evening it got much cooler. The beds at the top are tougher to climb. You need to be flexible enough and strong to climb. My cabin’s light wasn’t working. Hence they luckily changed my bed to a middle one which was convenient. Bathrooms and toilet were almost free always. Locker facilities were good. Location was excellent. 10 mins to the center by tram. Tram stop is 2 mins walk from the hostel. Also there are nearby excellent cafés and breakfast places. Overall highly recommended.

The Bee Hostel should change its name to The Bed Bug Hostel! It is my first stay in Amsterdam, which ruins my day on this birthday trip! After I stayed on the second night, my body was itchy, and I found the bed bug the next day! I am so regretful I did not read the review before staying in this Hostel! Right after, we took a picture of the bed bug and showed it to the staff. I asked if I could get a bed bug spray, and she said they don't offer it. I was told the bed bug was at the curtain; it would not fly to the bed... It seems like she tried to refuse to take any responsibility for the hygiene problem. She then offered to change our bed and said that it was up to us to change the bed or not…. 🥲 Also, the first-floor mixed dorm toilet left only one shower room for 18 customers, which is ridiculous! Bad experience! Rude staff! Ruin my day.

When choosing this place you need to take into consideration the following facts: - narrow stairs. If you have bulky luggage you'll face difficulties taking it up; - lack of privacy. Although there are curtains helping you hide your sleeping place from the rest, the living area is too small for the expected amount of people. There is one space divided into 3 rooms with 6 sleeping places in each, however, rooms are not separated with doors from one another. The bathroom is nice, but small, so there might be some waiting time before you will be able to take a shower (please bear it in mind); - the last and the foremost - bed bug infestation. And this fact ruins all the nice impressions of the place. Not only you may end up on your journey being bitten by those insects, but you also would be at a higher risk of bringing those back home with you. Dear management, please do not compromise the safety of your guests. Bed bugs are a serious issue and the fact that you have recurrent complaints from travelers on that means that measures have been taken by you (if any) are not sufficient. The majority of your clients choose to stay with you because they are short on money, and the possible need to deal with insects after vacation isn't something anyone may expect emotionally and financially as well. Hope for your responsible approach.

In the womans dormitory there are bed bugs and if there are bed bugs in the all womens room they get in the lounge area too therefore the whole hostel has them. The manager Marrit is aware of them because the 3 day of my stay 2 Australuan girls got a good pic of a bed bug and Marrit gave their money back. Sadly Marrit is not a responsible manager because she kept renting to woman the whole time i was there investing everyone including family, friends and the public where ever those ladies go and she said to me on Thursday the woman dormitory will be cleaned instead of the whole hostel shut down she should have immediatly shut the hostel down. Marrit offered to find me a place to move to but only because i told all the ladies that moved in that the place has bed bugs. My stay was 14 days and the reason i didnt move is because i was infested including all my clothes and things of which i decided it was vest to throw everthing away whi h money i will never get back. Marrit did give me 5 day refund but if she was doing things righr she would have refunded all of my money. This was an aweful experience for what is suppose to be a memorable experience. These people are greedy but co.e across to you like the care. If they care they would simply shur the hotel down refund all reservations and irradicate the bed bugs. I told booking.com abd the health department. No kitchen No fresh air The lady that does laundry brought the vacuum cleaner in the womans dorm but never vacuumed maybe did that for the camera so the manager can see she brought the vacuum cleaner in the room. The girl never vacuumed that room just took the vacuum cleaner back out the room. She just tries to make it look like shes working with her quick drugy act. She did not clean the bathroom either. Took the trash out but failed to put bags in so the ladies were sta king the trash on top of the trash can until i said something. Manager needs to get right with herself!

Really lovely hostel a 20 min walk from the city centre with a social atmosphere. Bathrooms were super clean and security was excellent. Small lockers were a bit of a pain and some dorms are 3 beds high so be aware of the height of the top bunks! My main issue is that as of Oct 23 this hostel has bed bugs which a few people had issues with over their stay. The staff were super apologetic and helpful in sorting out a refund and a move which was appreciated :)

Let me tell you a story.I, a solo traveling woman, arrive mid day at a mid sized hostel in an amazing location in Amsterdam. I’m exhausted, so I quickly put away my things and go to sleep in my pod. First, I notice blood on the comforter. I ask for a replacement, and management provides one. Feeling good, I head to sleep. Only, I awake at 4:30 PM to see a bed bug cuddled up with me! I show the bed bug to management, and they tell me they take this complaint seriously but all they do is offer me the choice to switch to a unisex floor or to change my sheets. After talking to other travelers at this hostel, they tell me bed bugs have been persistent across the hostel, so there’s really no escaping it. Thus, I opt to change my sheets. Every night in this hostel, I toss and turn, knowing in my heart I’m being unconsensually snug with some bed bugs! During the day, I’m fatigued and have a loss of interest in the vacation I had worked hard to afford, as I’m constantly paranoid that there are bed bugs on me. At the end of my stay, I tell management about my complaint, and they assure me they’ll contact the higher ups. However, I don’t hear back from management ever. This unfortunately is the story of my time at the Bee Hostel. Should I have gone to another hostel? Perhaps. But I’m literally just a girl! Should I have demanded a refund? I tried to, to no avail. Now I’m on the way back home, all bitten up and bitter. Count your days, The Bee Hostel. God sees the way you have treated your vulnerable guests, and God does not favor cheats.

The property has a severe bed bug infestation. We were told that 'bed bugs are to be expected- it's Amsterdam' and that 'bed bugs dont move between beds.' They offered to move us from the female dorm to a mixed dorm that had recently been treated for bed bugs, so it is likely the infestation has now spread across multiple floors. The property refused to provide us with a full refund (despite leaving after only one night) and the hostel manager dealt with us very rudely. Please note this is the first negative review I have ever left- I just want to make others aware that they should avoid this hostel at all costs!!

The property had a severe bed bug infestation when we stayed. We were told that 'bed bugs are to be expected- it's Amsterdam' and that 'bed bugs dont move between beds.' The property only refunded one of our group (this person had a severe reaction to the bites) even though we checked out in the middle of our first night (after being woken up by the bites). The hostel manager dealt with us very rudely. Please note this is the first negative review I have ever left- I just want to make others aware that they should avoid this hostel at all costs!!

Bedbugs all over the bed and they do not reimburse for any cost relates to it. My friend stayed there and had bedbug issue (see below photos) and they were just terrible in responding to the issue. She is leaving reviews but it is being deleted for whatever reasons so I am leaving another one to see if this one gets deleted. DO NOT book a room here. You will ruin your trip for sure. Not only for yourself but for your travel companions.

1) Be aware of "BEDBUGS" and LIARS. My bunkbed was number 4 in females dorm on the first floor. After reading this, if you want to say that they at least they refunded the Monday check-in to Saturday check-out, that is something all the hotels SHOULD DO because it is a HARM to the CLIENT. When something like this happens, I can CANCEL the stay and be refunded fully. It is just like the defective clothing, car, shoes, computer...etc, any merchandise you get from the store. And more so, I, the purchaser, was HARMED. I was PHYSICALLY, MENTALLY, and FINANCIALLY harmed by this hostel. Horrible Horrible Horrible. If it is not the management's fault, it is the whole company/owner's fault for not training the managers well, or only seeking money with "fancy looking website and new vibe" that is filled with bedbugs and not seeking to solve the problem nor deal with the client who was harmed and disappointed in the service. This clearly shows the Bee Hostel does not know how to prosper the business. If you continue with such management, you are shortsighted and will be left with people who does not care about getting bug bites or already carry them with them. To the people who are looking to go to this place, I HIGHLY URGE AVOID THE BEE HOSTEL. It's not just about money and convenience. Your whole trip can be ruined with bed bugs and that disaster may linger with you back home. Do not fall for the schemes the bee hostel put out like I did. Keep you, your trip, and way back home safe. In case The Bee Hostel tries to make up stories and change words, I am going to share the full story using my other accounts also to continue with the story: I found 5-6 bedbugs the first night I stayed because I was wide awake from jet-leg. I freaked out threw out the pajama and underwear I was wearing and took another shower. And I stood in fourth floor bathroom the whole night, wide awake, waiting for the manager to come in at 7 am. The entire time during my first stay, I kept it quite just for the hostel's reputation, I read good reviews and believed that it was just a happening. (Just so you know, the manager was a blond haired lady. I have no idea how to pronounce her name or spell it as I am not familiar with dutch). Only when I requested, the manager refunded me the stay but without giving back city tax. The manager only offered if I wanted to stay in other bed or room, which absolutely was absurd to me. And the lady manager lied about how the bite appears immediately if bitten by the bedbugs. She said if I don't see the bites, the bugs I saw must be other bugs, not bedbugs. But I read in google and based on other people's reviews, the bites appear one to several days after getting bitten depending on the individual's body. Also, they looked exactly as the google picture shows for fully-grown bedbugs. The lady manager never offered me to do laundry or investigating the clothes/suitcase before I leave the hostel in case I could spread the infestation. She just let me leave to get a new hotel. **So the bee hostel put me in the risk of spreading this infestation around.** I booked 4 star hotel myself to make sure this kind of incident would never happen again. But I was still horrified and traumatized that I ended up sleeping in the tub with just the towels as my pillow, blanket, and beddings. I could dare not sleep in the bed or use the beddings that were offered. And when the multiple horrible bites appeared the next day, I freaked out, thinking that I could have brought the bug with me.
