European Hostel

The condition of the hostel was below an acceptable standard. There were visible holes in the ceiling, mould, dirt and the overall cleanliness suggested the premises had not been properly maintained for some time. While I do not expect luxury from a hostel, I do expect a clean and functional environment. The kitchen was unclean and had multiple written notices stating that food would be discarded every 24 hours. My initial interaction with the owner was also concerning. A booking error occurred because the third party platform did not disclose any age related house rules. I later learned the hostel applies an 18 to 30 policy. I am 32 and would not have booked had this requirement been clearly stated. Despite this, the owner reacted in a hostile manner, threatened to cancel my stay and retain payment, and continued the discussion for an extended period before eventually allowing me to stay. I asked for a refund so I could go elsewhere, however, the owner refused. Later that day, when I knocked on the office door to request the wifi password, the owner responded abruptly and stated he was in a meeting, although it appeared to be a personal call. He also said I should have already known where to find the password, despite the earlier interaction being entirely focused on the booking issue. The accommodation conditions contributed further to my discomfort. I was provided with a single thin blanket and was instructed not to use my own bedding. Temperatures were cold at night and no additional blankets were available. The lack of adequate bedding options made the environment feel restrictive and uncomfortable. Fresh paint had been applied in some areas, but it did not address the mould odour in the rooms. I was aware of previous guest reviews mentioning stained bedding and bed bugs and had hoped those were isolated experiences. However, I also observed stained bedding and experienced itching after my second night, for which I am seeking medical advice for. At check out, I was mentally preparing for another round of the owner yelling at me or trying to take my security deposit, however, to my surprise he was calm and appeared to be nice and return my full deposit.

The office staff was extremely rude when I told them they had bedbugs and still wanted me to go back up and bring their sheets down. They refused to refund me the other 5 days even though I arrived went for a walk and left as soon as I got back and saw them all over the bed and on my luggage. I will always discourage friends family and strangers from doing business with them after the horrid experience

Definitiv die schlimmste Hostel Erfahrung die ich je hatte. Das ganze Hostel ist heruntergekommen, dreckig, und es stinkt wie auf einer Müllkippe. Die Zimmer und Betten sind befallen von Bettwanzen, mein Freund wurde überall am Bein gestochen und hat sie sogar mit eigenen Augen gesehen. Wir hatten geplant 2 nächste zu bleiben, doch mussten nach der ersten Nacht gehen, es war unerträglich (ich bin nicht am übertreiben). Der Mann von der Rezeption geht garnicht, wir wurden wie dreck behandelt und über die Hygiene angelogen. Absolutes no Go das Ding!

Nick the owner is the most hateful person I’ve ever meet in my life . His only form of communication is screaming at you. There were bed bugs when I got back my second night around 12 am . I called him and he began to scream at me instead . He said I should have discovered them sooner . There are also rats everywhere. Stay away

Don't stay here. It is not a hostel. It is a shelter. All reviews are true here. It is a very bad dirty place with mice, bed bugs etc. Run away from here and safe your money.

Je vais être direct, je ne recommande pas cette auberge. Le ménage y est inexistant, nous obligeant à cohabiter avec des punaises de lits, cafard ou encore des SOURIS ce qui est inadmissible. De plus il y a des crackhead devant l’auberge qui fait qu’on ne sent pas vraiment en sécurité. Et sans oublié l’absence de professionnalisme du réceptionniste qui ce permet de m’envoyer des messages à 1h du matin pour m’inviter à prendre un verre avec lui et qui s’offusque de mon refus. The staff I registered with was very unpleasant and frankly acting like a fascist dictator telling me he will keep my deposit if I don't listen to all his house rules. Luckily I met my roommate and he told me he was leaving because after one night he awoke to bed bugs and showed me where he had gotten bitten and where at the base board he saw them come out.

Don't come here dude. Service is terrible, the waiters will even treat you like a thief. Cleanliness is terrible, as you can see in other reviews, bed bugs and cockroaches everywhere. Neighborhood is terrible, drug addicts, homeless people, hopefully no criminals. Maybe you can spend a little more and find somewhere else, even as a backpacker.

Bedbugs. The guy on the reception threatens you with suing you for asking if you have the upper or lower bed.

Nick was defensive as soon as I brought up the reviews of bed bugs when asking about existing reviews. He immediately refused to offer me service and cancelled my stay. After negotiating he allowed me to create a new reservation for the same price. I ended up getting charged twice. Him canceling my stay would’ve been the best decision. My stay was okay to say the least. The building is not the best, others have commented on the lounge and kitchen. The bathrooms are decent but you need to bring your own everything, including towels. The rooms are metal bunk beds with a thin mattress. The pillow was the best thing of the stay. The building had a general smell and uncomfortableness that’ll be hard to forget. Nick is a hustler and a decent one at it.

I was harrassed by the owner for mentioning bed bugs, they purposely denied me mores service even tho I could pay. Owner creepily invited me and my girlfriend out to party nights if his. When refused the owner started harrassing and being rude

Infested with mice, cockroaches, and bed bugs. I woke up with a huge bug bite the size of a baseball after lying in the bed for only 1 hour (I tried to show in the pic). I left in the middle of the night. It was too disgusting and uncomfortable. The kitchen has insect species that I've never seen before, probably carried over from other countries. There was dirt on the floor, and the premises were very run down in general

Got bit by bed bugs wish I could upload the pictures had to go to work with big bumps all over my body itching the entire day was embarrassing very dirty there is also a family living there who is always cooking in the kitchen if you wanted to cook in the filthy kitchen you might not have the chance because the family is always taking over the kitchen they also have small children living there with them It is also very unsafe and there are not enough restrooms and showers they are always out of tissue so bring your own to the dirty restrooms and they have roaches I have all photos to prove this there is even roach traps in the office.

absolutely awful, the staff were extremely rude and accused myself and those i was with of braking things in our room thay were already damaged, threaterning not to give us our deposit back. ontop of this the overall cleanliness of the hostel was dire, we had cockroaxhes in our room, bugs in the bed, the kitchen was repulsive with rotten food and flies evereverywhere, it felt like itd never been cleaned and also the hostel smelt awful and nothing had been cleaned.

BED BUGS! save you money. Hostels ate normally a unique way to stay. This place is even worth a $20. people like this poor degerate should be put out of business.

It is one of the cheapest hotels in san francisco so you have to expect what it offers, indeed there is very little hygiene, bathrooms are very dirty, almost never toilet paper, the bed in which I slept was broken and had a hole in it, heard that there were often bed bugs. Stains on the matress and towel. kitchen and fridge very dirty. the neighborhood is really unsafe, there are a lot of d*** addicts and homeless people. However, the reception staff were very friendly.

Two words: bed bugs

There were bed bugs in some of the beds, and it is in the worst area of San Francisco (no literally some of my friends literally gasped when I said I stayed in the Tenderloin area) and there were homeless people loitering along the whole street. The only upside was Nikunj who was a good host and tried to help me out the best he could, but after a night’s stay I decided it was best safer than sorry and moved out of there. Still waiting on the website to settle this issue.

I spent only two days out of 3 because we found bed bugs in our room. On top of that, the area is unsafe, the rooms and the facilities are dirty, it's noisy and the staff is rude. We were 6 people separated in 2 different rooms and we all found bed bugs. The staff denied the fact and refused to see the videos. I stayed in more than 200 hostel in my life and this is the worst I've ever seen.

I had bed bugs , and when I went to complain abojt it I got yelled at and told to go get tested for monkey pox. I saw bed bug on me , I am not a liar , and I was called a liar

No Sauna like other review said. No breakfast either. Half the communal showers and bathrooms are out of service. When you do take a shower it floods in all showers. You will be sharing kitchen with Maid and her family, that are in kitchen all the time. You might get Bedbugs bad like I did, they wont spray after you tell them. They truly dont care and dont want to take responsibility for it. They will pretend it's never happened before so here is a documentary it did. They have longterm hostelers that expect you to share your food and get angry when you dont. Make sure you bring a lock for your locker. Your roommates will and I guarantee they will go in your stuff. This place isnt very clean. Its swept and mopped but that's it. Everything else isnt cleaned. You will see same hair in showers on walls day after day...example.

I can in no way recommend this hostel to anyone, even those traveling on a budget: it is SO worth paying a little more to stay somewhere else. We checked out two days early. There were toenails and hair in the showers, a bad smell everywhere, leftover food in corners. My friend got bed bugs and my headphones were stolen from my bed during our two night stay here. We felt very uncomfortable and unsafe in the area. The only positive thing is the staff were nice and understanding when we left early.

This was a horrible and very dirty hostel. Dirty sheets, bathrooms and halls and I got the bed bugs because of staying there. I wouldn’t in any way recommend anyone to stay there. Besides that, it’s a very unsafe and uncomfortable neighborhood - we didn’t felt safe at all.

Satisfactory if you're looking for Basic Accommodation. Cheap and Cheerful with NO Wifi, the Shower was Hot and it's Close to Public Transport. NO Bed Bugs !

Worst hotel ever ! My friends got bed bugs or fleas bites... Sheets, mattress and rugs were dirty... The employees did not want to acknowledge the presence of bed bugs... They are very dishonest people... Do not go there !

So far one of the cheapest hostel in downtown area.The price is really good, the location is close by all the public transport.There are so many homelesses and drug addicteds in the street.It's scary and sad.I had never seen somebody injecting drugs in its veins since last night.Another thing are the BEDBUGS.They are there in the matresses and carpet and they will bite all your body during the night.By the morning you'll itch till death and all your body will have red tiny spots.It's just the most disgusting thing in the world.That's a thing that have to be fixed with urgency.The bathrooms are ok but super busy even to pee in the morning.The kitchen is clean and organized.There are 2 good refrigerators, and everything you need there.The staff is helpful but kinda rude.They dont wash the blankets.

They let homeless drug addicts/sex offenders stay here. They steal your stuff when you are gone. If you are a girl, DO NOT stay here. It isn't safe. I had my passport stolen which completely ruined my trip from Europe. Management isn't helpful, the place is filthy and the beds are covered in bed bugs. Please don't use this hostel.

Well I stay here for two nights, the days between 25 and 26 of july, and lets start with the review, first of all the area is not that pleasent, many homeless around, but I never had a problem with them, the man in the desk was nice and helped me a lot. the rooms well they were not luxury of course but I didn't have a bedbug bite in my nights there and didn't hear someone complaining about them. there is no roof deck as they say, no all you can make pancakes, nothing of bikes rental, people staying there is amazing! ! Unfortunately they should make more activities to socialize, I met two friendly guys from Montreal, a girl from Germany, and a trio from Russia, unfortunately I didn't ask them for their information so not in contact anymore. shower was not like super clear but was normal and all day I saw people cleaning the rooms.
