The Gatwick White House Hotel

The worst hotel I have ever been. I booked for just one night, as my flight departure was quite early. I booked an en suit room for one, and the guy put me in a room with one tandem bed plus other two single beds. For start, the reception had a horrendous smell of curry and specias. The room was absolutely disgusting and smelly, worst than a 0 stars hostel, the carpet floor was dirty, it seemed that never has been cleaned, the table had rest of tobacco from the previous guests as well as the bin bag was not changed. TV were dusty and the toilet has marks of stools, bed covers were dirty with hairs and there was a big black mould in one of the corners of the room, it looked like the beds were made in a hurry. I setted the heating at maximum and there was no way to make that room warm, I think the best option was sleeping in the airport, at lest I would not wasted my money in such a disgusting place and I would not catch bedbugs either. I have been in cheapest hotels in Europe and never encountered such disgusting places like in the UK, but I guess in this country what matters is money and money and they really dont care about hygiene or at least bother to be clean and modest. If you want to be in a decent hotel I think you have to be ready to pay 80£ a night. I wish I never have to book another hotel in this country anymore.

TV was dusty and the toilet has marks of stools, bed covers were dirty with hairs and there was a big black mould in one of the corners of the room, it looked like the beds were made in a hurry. It should not be called a tree stars hotel, it should be called a hostel so at least you know what you are going to find, for what it is and it seems they dont lay any cleaner or room attendants it is quite pricy.

It’s a shame because the majority of the staff were very kind and helpful. But the older Indian gentleman and the younger Indian woman were not friendly at all and it seemed like asking for anything from them was a huge inconvenience. Never any any greetings and the vibe was always so uncomfortable with them. On top of that, I got a rash all over my body from what could only have been explained as bed bugs. For that reason I would never come back.

There wasn’t a fan or air conditioning in the room so it was quite uncomfortable in the heatwave

Room was disgusting, woke up to find two bed bugs on the bed. Bathroom was clean enough, other than the hairs left on the toilet seat and in sink. Can’t forget the mould between the tiles. Also a weird smell of urine in there. Location was decent, short journey to the airport for £15 shuttle transfer per room. I suppose you get what you pay for. £54 isn’t bad, if you don’t mind a filthy room with insects on your bed.

Bei der Ankunft wurden wir freundlich begrüßt. Beim betreten des Zimmers bemerkten wir sofort das es sehr kalt war. Heizung war abgestellt. Die Sauberkeit des Zimmers lässt sehr zu wünschen übrig. ( Ges. Hotel Renovierungs bedürftig.) Nach der ersten Nacht gingen wir zum Frühstück. Toastbrot,Toastschinken, Käse, div. Flecks und Marmelade fertig. Jeden Tag das gleiche. Als wir zurück ins Zimmer kamen wollte ich Aufbetten und da waren sie *Bettwanzen* absolutes no Go!!!! Danach Zimmer tausch. Schmutz wo man hin sieht. Wir sind meger enttäuscht und werden in Zukunft einen großen Bogen um das Hotel machen.

I got bitten by bed bugs.

Everything. The van to the airport barely ran and the driver was totally unsafe. I couls not get out of there fast enough. I've taken to social media to warn people!

I don't give it a lower grade because I cannot.

The room is extremely tiny. The carpets are filthy. There was a bed bug on the ceiling that terrified us. TV is size of computer monitor and placed tilted . The breakfast was very poor quality. The place is under renovation so from the entrance onwards it is a dirty construction site appearance and the hotel management has made no attempt to try to conceal the work in progress areas. The hotel needs emergency renovations in all areas and must not operate till completed.

My room was given to somebody else which took an hour to resolve at midnight. There was somebody's dirty water and hair in my sink. The bedroom carpets are filthy. I booked the airport transfer option which was sold as being cheaper than a taxi (it isn't). The person driving the transfer was late and we arrived to the airport late. There was nobody on reception in the morning. The hotel is missing a ceiling, wires everywhere, not painted.
