Lila Limao Hostel

+ Location was good and facilities looked but I did not stay at the hostel. I sprained my ankle during a hike and they could only offer a bunk bed at the top in a room on the first floor. I was coming back from the hospital and in a lot of pain and that bed was not accessible to me. The staff said they could not do anything for me, they did not attempt to ask someone to change bed with me. As I was in pain and needed to rest, I made another reservation and left the hostel after 15 minutes. They did not care I was leaving. They made a bad situation even worse to me. That was heartless

- They could have at least tried to find another bed for me but they plainly said they could do nothing for me. I would expect them to try, I am sure someone would have switched with me. If it was the reverse situation I would have given up my bed and taken the top bed.

+ The staff were nice, kitchen was fully equipped, location is ideal and it felt clean

- There is only one small social area so if you don’t feel like partying and want to chill, watch a movie this is kinda difficult because the space is so small and if others are drinking and listening to loud music it’s not very relaxing. Other issues are the beds are dangerous and extremely uncomfortable, I watched a girl fall off the top bunk trying to climb down. For the price, I expected more. This is the most expensive hostel in my 6 month trip but there’s no social activities or extras like fruit just something to make it worth the price! We also shared rooms with very selfish and inconsiderate people. I also had to share a room with an old man one night and he was lying exposed in bed which made me feel very uncomfortable

+ Location

- Overall the hostel was clean but the bathroom and nightstands could have been cleaned more. The girls dorm was spacious BUT the beds were uncomfortable because the mattresses were thin and the beds were loud. Also to be aware is that the place has a lot of cats, this information was nowhere to be found in their description. That was a big issue for me because I am allergic and I was told that the cats may come into the room if the door or windows are open. Which might happen in a dorm with multiple people. I didnt feel like my concerns were taken serious by the staff.

+ El lugar muy bello.

- No me gustó que fui con mi prima y su pareja. Y no le permitieron dormir en la misma habitación del Hostel a mi prima con nosotros en camas separadas obveo, con la excusa que era de varones. Por la noche llegamos y había una joven en el lugar. La verdad muy mala 😎

+ El personal es lo mejor, son muy amables.

- Las camas son muy incómodas, el colchón es finito y los lugares en común podrían poner sillones más cómodos también.

+ Good social area downstairs, cats. Snorkel rental.

- No key needed to get into the hostel or the rooms. Lockers are tiny. AC only between 8pm and 8am, no fans or AC in the social area.

- Was a bit disappointed with my stay here especially after reading all the good reviews of this hostel online. The room is right next to the social area and very thin walls so was kept awake most of the night as the hostel does not enforce the silence after 11pm rule. The beds are also very close to each other with no curtain so there is no privacy, the girls in my room were also very loud at night and they kept a shaking my bed climbing on it, not really the fault of the hostel but it was very annoying. The room was also full of mosquitos so every time I did fall asleep I was woken up being bitten! This is the only hostel travelling 5 months in South America that I felt I had to move halfway through my stay and forfeit the second night as I was so uncomfortable, it would have been nice if the hostel had refunded me the second night as a gesture of goodwill as it was only $25 Aud, but they refused. They also only replied to my messages about the noise/ mosquitos once I told them I was cancelling the second night, around 16 hours later!

+ It has full kitchen until 22, the staff is friendly although I think some only speak Portuguese. There are common spaces upstairs and downstairs but they are empty.

- It was not what I expected. There is no social atmosphere. It is new but the construction quality is bad, the ceiling tile in the bathroom of my room fell. The mattresses are literally a mat of less than 10 cm, which being one of the most expensive hostel on the island (without breakfast) is unacceptable. In the top bunk beds it is almost impossible to sleep because of the low ceiling and you can feel the wood,so everyone tries to change beds. Particularly I shared two very inconsiderate Uruguayan girls who woke you up every day between 3 to 5 am and set the air conditioning at 18° degrees with 17° outside all night, someone should control the use of electricity or set rules, I almost froze to death and barely slept. Please note that animals enter the rooms freely in case you're allergic to cats or dogs.

+ Le personnels étaient très accueillants et gentils, le séjour a été agréable. Ils nous ont aidé à faire le parcours de randonnée. C'est top.

- Il n'y a rien de particulier que j'ai à signalez à ce niveau, nous avons même pu laisser nos affaires en quittant le lieu.

+ Limpieza

+ La verdad excelente Hostel, la limpieza, el ambiente, cocina y habitaciones muy cómodas. Totalmente recomendable, buena ubicación.

+ La cocina, el personal muy amable, la decoración, se ve todo muy bien.

- La escalera de las literas es incómoda, sobre todo para personas pequeñas. A la habitación femenina le agregaría un espejo fuera del baño y un sillón o algo para estar, pero en general todo bien

+ La amabilidad de los trabajadores y que tuviera cocina

- La cama. El colchón de la habitación era muy delgado y se sentian los listones de madera., además del lavado de manos que era muy pequeño y el agua salpicada fuera. Por último la escalera de las literas eran bastante incomoda para subir

+ Gostei de tudo, especialmente a vibe do lugar e o capricho nos detalhes. Os recepcionistas são excelentes e a limpeza é impecável

+ Hacen limpieza diaria. El personal es súper amable y predispuesto a dar información sobre atracciones y eventos. Está a pocas cuadras de la playa/puerto, y del centro, y lejos del ruido, por lo que es ideal para descansar. Hay gatitos y un perro súper amistosos. Recomiendo contratar con ellos el transfer a Río, porque incluye la lancha y tiene varios horarios, con buen precio.
