Everything else. The room was not clean (I'm fairly sure there were bedbugs), the carpet was old and brown and I couldn't bring myself to step on it in bare feet. I was uncomfortable fully undressing in the room as it seemed like the kind of place that might have peepholes or hidden cameras. The shared bathroom was very clean, but old with lots of broken tiles and calcified fixtures. Unfortunately, it also cost almost $200/night at the height of the graduation season.

Bed bugs! I was bitten 34x in a single night. I didn't scratch the bites at all but I may have to go to the ER for IV antibiotics because it's that bad. Room 126 is not safe as of 9/11/2025. I love Allston but I will never, ever return to this dumpster.

This is not a hotel. It’s a small (barely) step above a hostel and a FAR CRY from a “hotel”. We shared a “suite” (apartment) with 3 other groups of people. One bathroom between us that was inexplicably not stocked with any basic amenities other than 1 ply toilet paper (which, considering this was a hostel, makes sense. But again, didn’t know that). The layout is a small bedroom per booking, most barebones thing I’ve ever seen (I am including some French hostels in that statement) some rooms right next to each other. I heard our neighbor snore and turn in his bed several times with *alarming* clarity. The doors lock, but if I leaned on them hard enough they’d probably break open. At no point was I led to believe that I’d be sharing a bathroom with 6 other guests, I passed on a similarly priced place because the ad for the other one told me I’d be sharing a bathroom with ONE other guest, definitely didn’t want to share with 6. I selected a room with one large bed when I booked and it was… A bed? Tried to plug a fan in and tripped the breaker (reset it myself, AC was all I could run without blowing the fuse) Sheets appeared clean, no bedbugs (as of the time of this review)(this is not something I should have to say here, but if you saw the room you’d understand), Had this been advertised as a hostel and not a hotel, I wouldn’t be bringing any of this up. It is likely the most affordable place to stay in the city of Boston, hands down, but considering the fact that you’re paying for a spring mattress and four walls made of paper, it’s not a great option even at the relatively low price point. This website is a good resource for the reality you’ll face here, far more accurate reviews than I saw elsewhere, heed the warnings and do what you will with the information you find. If you’re backpacking alone and looking to crash for a night, go for it, the location is convenient and it’s cheap. Otherwise splurge for a real room. Staff is lovely

bedbugs - nice welts to remind me painfully about the short stay

  6. Confirmé Google Maps

Bedbugs a plenty and the rudest people you’ll ever encounter, what more is there to say?

  7. Confirmé Google Maps

The location is good but the cleanliness of the place is a disaster. First, as you probably read on the other reviews, you don't stay in the apartment in the pictures. I could not use the toilet during my stay because it was clogged with a bunch of toilet paper in it and SUPER dirty. Disgusting. Room was ok, but I was constantly worried about bed bugs. Front desk service is ok too. Overall, pay $30 more, stay in hotel where things will be clean and you can use the bathroom.

*clears throat* BED BUGS I stayed here last year and it was a good time. Good price. Nothing fancy. The building isn’t in good repair. But that’s kind of the charm of low budget travel. I just stayed again here last night. The room was significantly nicer. We had a shared bathroom, but it wasn’t gross hallway bathroom. I left this morning, and my travel companion texted me frantically stating that she woke up to find a round bug crawling on her face! She begged me to check the bags that I had already brought back toward our home in Connecticut. When I return home and inspected our bags. I found a little hitchhiker bedbug on it as well. Stay here at your own risk. Inspect your bags carefully. Sleep in long sleeves and pants.

Poor building management. I was bitten by bedbugs as well

  10. Confirmé Booking.com

Saw recent Google reviews about bedbugs (which I hadn't thought to lookup beforehand), got freaked out and slept on my yoga mat. Room didn't look like the photos at all -- in general, the buildings look much nicer from the outside.

The corridors of the house were very dirty and dusty. It was not possible at all to open window in our room and get some fresh air. Just one toilet for the whole floor (8 rooms) is very little and it got clogged also with shower multiple times, so it was for a while even not possible to use, which is not ok. We also found one bug on bed and more in the bathroom. We don't know if they were bedbugs or not, but didn't fine any bites afterwards.

  13. Confirmé Booking.com

The bed bugs, the bed on the floor, a room I could touch both walls with each of my hands, the shared bathroom, the mold, the creepy paintings, and the piss stained chair. Immediately refunded and got another spot. Never go here

  14. Confirmé Booking.com

I stayed in one of the side properties, not at the main house. The property is really old. For what other properties were charging in the area, it is still a good deal. But be aware that you get what you pay for. The carpet is old and stained, the property is " as clean as it can be" but may not meet your cleanliness standard. However, it was not bad smelling or moldy. The beds were decent and the sheets were clean with no bed bugs.

  15. Confirmé Google Maps

Possibly the worst accommodation you can have in this continent. Rooms are tiny and extremely outdated. Building has 3 floors with no elevator, and information found on travel websites are all blatant lies. And the cherry on top is the presence of bedbugs. You are better off sleeping in your car.

This hotel is by far the most disgusting place I've stayed at in my entire life. There are holes in the walls and stains on the couch in the foyer. The room I was given had disgustingly stained carpet in at least 5 different areas and looked as though it had not been vacuumed in quite some time. Broken blinds in the windows. There was food (I think) smeared on the walls, it hadn't been dusted in who knows how long, and the door had a gap at the top of it so everyone in the hall could hear everything being said in the room. At one point, the shared washroom toilet was clogged for over 12 hours. When I attempted to check in, they claimed they had no reservation for me even though they had messaged me the day before through this website to confirm my reservation. Eventually got a room and then avoided it for most of the trip because it was impossible to relax. Didn’t see any bed bugs but have a few bites on me.

The room was not clean and very dusty. After seeing the house, I expected to encounter mice, and unfortunately, I did. On the second night, a mouse crawled across the room and wasn’t afraid of me at all. My baby and I couldn’t sleep properly. It also seems that the mattress might be infested with bedbugs; I'm still itching on my way home, and my baby has bites on their hands. I read the latest comments and expected a better experience, but unfortunately, it didn’t meet those expectations.

I recently had the misfortune of staying at the Farrington Inn, and it was by far the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. The bed sheets and towels were filthy, and the overall cleanliness of the bathroom was dirty, despite being labeled as "just cleaned." The entire top floor reeked of urine. Additionally, there was no privacy in the rooms and the doors didn’t even close properly. Last but not the least - The bed was infested with bed bugs under the sheets. It was the middle of the night and we just ran like hell from that place. If you want to subject someone to a nightmare of a stay, book them a room at the Farrington Inn!

Checking in the guy walked us to our room down the street, around the corner to a different building, up lots of stairs, to a room that had bed bugs. At least they didn't give me a hard time about my refund.

The Farrington Inn is a true definition of HELL. The rooms are very dirty, with toilets reminiscent of a 1880s motel or an African Village Guest house in the 1950s. The carpets are dusty, there are bedbugs present, and the bedsheets are so unclean that I had to use my own to cover myself entirely. The rooms resemble jail cells. I was sleeping with my room door locked from the inside when, around 4 am, my locked door was opened with a key by an unknown individual from outside. Startled, I screamed, thinking it was a terrible nightmare. Inside my room was a white man who apologized and quickly fled. My screams attracted an elderly hotel staff member who came to my rescue. This incident was a failed room invasion. If I had not been present, or if I hadn't screamed loudly, or if I had been heavily intoxicated and fast asleep, the intruder with a spare key could have stolen all of my belongings, including my bags, laptop, iPad, and two iPhones (14 & 15). I am unsure which authority oversees hotel services in Boston, MA. The Farrington Inn should have been shut down long ago. It poses a risk to people's lives, security, and health due to the spread of bedbugs..…🚮🚮🚮🚮🚮.

They didn't clean the sheets after the last person. How do I know? There was some random hair in them when I inspected the bed. The *private* bathroom also had someone elses hair in it. The mattress was stained. Only plus was there were no bedbugs. The outlets appeared to have shorted at some point based on their appearance and were thus a fire hazard so I couldn't sleep with the heater in the middle of February. My fellow backpackers, unfortunately I would splurge on a hotel instead of staying here.

  27. Confirmé Booking.com

It was dirty. It’s an old house . I requested a room and was taking to a different building a few minutes walk from the main Farrington. Room was dirty. Blankets were dusty and had some dirts . I wouldn’t even lay there as it seem I could have contracted bedbugs or something else . My wife and my son would not even sit on the sits. Outside the main building there was a big rat crossing the side of the building going to its basement. I left not even after 15 min from being in the room .

Agree with other reviews: very deceptive, nowhere near as cute as the pictures, unexpected shared bathroom (in the fine print of the confirmation email), uncomfortable/loud beds, sheets were not clean. Disagree with other reviews: staff was not very helpful. After inspecting the beds and finding them not clean (hair and other questionable bits but no bed bugs), we requested a refund. We were still charged a housecleaning fee for their dirty beds that were already dirty when we got there.

  29. Confirmé Google Maps

Room was clean enough, and thankfully no bed bugs, but honestly it’s kind of shameful to offer the room at that price. The mattress was so old and insanely creaky, I thought I would wake up all the other guests every time I lied down. I’ve never heard a mattress sound like that in my life. Also, the mattress had a huge gap in the middle, felt like I was sleeping in a ditch or a gutter. Can’t believe they thought that was acceptable. That mattress should have been thrown away 10 years ago. Not sure how the other rooms were, but I was in room 121, avoid that room until they decide to put a new mattress in there! Also, that room was right outside the parking lot where management parks their cars right outside my window, so you constantly hear every bit of their conversations, including condescending remarks to the cleaning staff for not being organized enough… try buying a new mattress for your rooms before criticizing your employees. The office phone started ringing at 4am right outside my door, and there was insane amounts of noise all night and early morning in the building. Also, the faucet was leaking, with loud drops into the metal sink. I had to put a towel in the sink to dampen it so that I could try to sleep. Then I was forced to stay a second night because of complications with my luggage and travel, and the guy at the counter upcharged me an extra $15 because “the Red Sox were in town”. As if I or anyone else gives a damn about the Red Sox. So afterwards I went online and saw that the price of the room was the same online that it had been the previous night, and I had been swindled out of $15. This place is business first, and quality a far second.

Rough rooms, but it's clean enough. No bed bugs, no draft. It's a "get what you pay for" situation. And I've paid more for worse.

Bed bugs we found on the bed, I would love to try it again. They were so nice refunded credit card. Great customer service and location, quiet and easy to get to.

It's cheap, near a T station, and based on the other reviews here, I kind of knew what I was getting into. The guy at the front desk was friendly. The rooms do not feel clean; the floor doesn't even look as though it's been vacuumed recently. It is the most uncomfortable bed I've ever slept on, with cheap sheets, and old, flat pillows. Unlike another reviewer, I did not find any bed bugs in my room, but upon entering the room I did feel compelled to check. You are provided with exactly one towel, and there is no room service or room cleaning during your stay. It served my proposes this time, but I would not stay here again.

  35. Confirmé Google Maps

Very dirty, staff are very unfreindly, not much conversation from them.rat traps everywhere, gross sight to see.Everyone is doing or selling drugs. All night conversations in the hallway, room next to us had things missing from thier room while they were out.The worst is the fact that they know they have bedbugs and they dont do anything about it,i wouldnt recomend anyone stay there,id rather sleep on a park bench.

  36. Confirmé Google Maps

There's a reason they make you pay for your entire stay at check in. There are bed bugs here. If bed bugs aren't enough to keep you away, air conditioning barely works, half of the few outlets don't work at all, and no one is ever available at the front desk. In my four night stay I had one towel. An ironing board was only made available after I requested it even though the hotel had advertised as though there was one in every room. The shared bathroom has no amenities beyond toilet paper and hand soap. You have to bring or buy your own shampoo and soap if you want to shower. This was the cheapest room in the city, but given the chance to come back I would spring for a different hotel in a heartbeat.

Booked for 23 Farrington, but had no record of booking (despite confirmation number), and got placed in 19-21 Farrington. No heat first night (30 degrees outside), found a bed bug -- but the place was close to where I needed to be, and available. OK to stay here if you're a guy, and you know what you are getting into. Bring plastic garbage bag and bag yourstuff -- because it will save you a lot of work and give you peace of mind if you find a bed bug. The building we booked for 23 Farrington actually seemed in good shape, but it appears they have overflow rooms in other properties that are a bit shaky.

  38. Confirmé Google Maps

AVOID IT - IT'S DANGEROUS! The worst ever, I can accept that the room weren't so clean, it was late for us and after all I could have complained and nothing else! I can survive the bedbugs, the cockroaches and the mice (can you believe? everywhere!) but this hotel is dangerous too and this is unacceptable! It's frequented by not advisable people, during the night we had to call the police six times, at least someone tried to enter in our room, we literally escaped from there with the help of the police, AVOID IT!
