SurfNest Hostel

Building & garden were very nice, dorms spacious. However, they put an extra bunkbed in our dorm without communication, so +2 people in the dorm. Breakfast is supposed to be included (served between 8-10am): what you get is literally just coffee and 7 pieces of toast with marmelade for the whole hostel from 9-10am (if it’s even there). Tried to talk to the manager about these issues, he was disrespectful, not open to actually talk or compensate us. He just kept saying he’d cancel our last ni...

BREAKFAST IS A LIE. There is no breakfast at all, I only booked here because of this and they say from 8-10 was there waiting and never came, when asked the staff were super rude. The hostel is super dirty too, it’s impossible to get into the pool, don’t understand why the rating is high. There’s nothing.

La peor experiencia! No reserven ahí, el lugar tiene potencial para ser algo bueno, pero para empezar los encargados no están en los horarios que deberían trabajar, nos tuvieron 2 horas esperando afuera, los baños estaban demasiado sucios, nos tocaron la puerta un día en la mañana para decirnos que ya debíamos irnos, cuando nuestro check out era hasta el siguiente día. La atención es pésima y cualquiera puede entrar al hostal. Nuestro cuarto se inundó con un poco de lluvia.

The rooms were nice and cool even without the ac. They offer breakfast included in your stay but in reality they give you a container of things to make yourself like cornflakes and jam, not a proper breakfast. And most importantly the hospitality was awful!! Will never be back or would recommend it to anyone!

Worst hostel experience we ever had. No windows in the dorms or in the private room. The volunteers were disorganized and the events very shallow and not interesting or organized in any way. The cleaning schedule is very random. Toilets and faucets are leaking and smell very bad very fast. The list goes on and on… just don’t go there.

Worst hostel experience I have ever had. The whole place works as a pre drinking area, which meant it was absolutely trashed already from the morning. There was vomit all over in the dorm bathroom. Guests were doing adult stuff in the dorms, swimming pool… This hostel had no boundaries and absolutely no quiet hours. Ended up leaving earlier.

(Don’t expect breakfast) The hostel itself is mostly okay, but the free breakfast is a LIE. It was just a small piece of toast, and in short supply, so you have to be quick if you want any.

SurfNest is still being built with builders in every day. We stayed in two rooms and paid around €45 a night for each. The first had no windows and the second has a bed and no other furniture. In both rooms the floor was dusty concrete. The staff were good and the hostel has potential to be nice, but it’s a bad deal currently.

I loved the hostel. Only two things that I really didn’t like: the included „breakfast“ was a super dry slice of toast with jam, nothing that would ever be enough for breakfast. The other thing is, that in a 10 people dorm, there was literally only one very dark light. It was impossible to see anything at night, or to pack. Please change the light situation. It would be great if each bed had its own small light.

Las personas en general en el hostal son increíbles, muy amables y tranquilos, de primera estancia solo había reservado estar dos noches porque me iba ir a las playas hacia la zona sur, sin embargo, decidí pasar otras 5 noches ahí porque hice amigos con los que puede hacer diferentes actividades, así que sí viajan solos, así como fue mi caso es una gran opción porque las voluntarias saben todas las actividades que se pueden hacer por día.

Todo muy bien, y muy cómoda la vivienda 🫡

Me encantó, las chicas voluntarias lo máximo. Tal vez lo único es que cobran extra por pagar con tarjeta, pero todo lo demás es un 10/10. El ambiente es tranquilo pero also fun! La alberca siempre la limpian, puntos extras por eso. Así como el aseo en general, la clase de yoga que tomé 10/10 :) Súper recomendado si viajas sola.

Booked a private room with 2 beds but it only had 1 bed. The owner said their software showed we booked a room with 1 bed despite me showing him on hostelworld we booked a room with 2. He did not care, was rude & made no effort to reconcile. Later, we were told by other staff that there was a private room with 2 beds available the whole time. The toilet had no seat. No toilet paper holder so the roll just sat on the ground. No place to hang the towels or put luggage. Bare minimum everything

I had an amazing experience from start to finish at Surf Nest. The place has everything you’d want at a hostel and a homey but chill vibe that’s difficult to explain and replicate. And a big shoutout to the staff - JC, Erick, Hani, Caro, Axel, and everyone else. You guys were incredible. They always greeted me warmly, helped whenever I had any questions, gave me great recommendations, and created an atmosphere and ambiance that made it feel like home. Top experience.

Loved our 7 night stay here! Great girls dorm with curtains and aircon. Amazing and relaxed vibe with pool and roof top terrace. It’s really great if you don’t want to stay in a loud part hostel but still want to meet cool people.

Loved this place, Loved the people, would strongly recommend always felt at home. Will definitely be coming back.

Overall great social areas but for some reason it didn’t feel very social. The staff was super friendly and helpful though!! The Toilet in my dorm had a broken seat and showers/ drain smelled a bit funny but the dorm itself was great. Very spacious. Close to the beach. Center and La Punta are a short Colectivo-ride away.

Un chouette auberge, très belle avec plusieurs aires communes dont le rooftop très tranquille et la piscine très agréable. Les volontaires que j'ai rencontrés étaient très sympas et serviables, les chambres très spacieuses avec un coin salle de bain ouvert.. Ventilateur la journée + AC le soir (un peu fort selon moi malgré la chaleur dehors). La cuisine est très rustique avec très peu de vaisselle/ustensiles et le gaz un peu dangereux, mais spacieuse et pratique pour sociabiliser.

La ubicación es buena si no quieres estar tan cerca de la zona más concurrida; a unos metros hay una lavandería y el mercado de Zicatela también está cerca; la playa está a unos minutos caminando. Me gustaron las dos terrazas. La atención de los chicos de recepción fue buena. Solo sugeriría mejorar la limpieza de la cocina y algunas áreas comunes, había basura y colillas de cigarro desde un día anterior.

buen hostel,al lado de el mercado zicatela, la zona estaba un poquito apartada pero con colectivo vas a todos los sitios y la playa delante y el mercado. el hostel genial, tranquilito,piscina bonita, 2 terrazas, cocina y unos atardeceres de postal. 3 dias muy agradables.

Chill, spacious, and friendly hostel. JC is very kind. The pool/lounge area is one of the best I’ve been to. Kitchen is clean to use, rooms are big with AC. More quiet location from the center, but I very much enjoyed that.

Fue por mucho mi hostal favorito, buena ubicación, cerca del mercado de Zicatela ideal por si quieres comer ahi o si quieres comprar para preparar tu comida. Las habitaciones son amplias y también las camas, muy limpio todo habia un baño compartido dentro de la habitación. Me encanto la terraza mas grande, desde donde puedes ver el atardecer. Tienen dos terrazas ideales para pasar el tiempo, la alberca es amplia y muy limpia, muy agardable para estar ahi todo el dia. Definitivamente un buen ...

This hostel was awesome for a relaxed stay in Puerto Escondido. The manager was very accommodating, the rooms, were nice, and the beach and a market is 3 mins away by walking. The free breakfast is just toast but the hostel is still cheap and worth it. Would recommend!

Excelente hostal para quedarse, súper limpio, muchas actividades, el personal muy amable y se siente como una casa. Todos los espacios son súper amplios y su ubicación es ideal ya que se encuentra entre punta y zicatela. Me gustó mucho definitivamente regresaría ! Gracias
