La limpieza brillaba por su ausencia, el espacio es muy reducido y las almohadas incómodas. Espacio en general muy desagradable para dormir

Old-fashioned youth hostel not reflecting the rates charged, unpleasant clientele who smoke in rooms and talk loudly in the evening.
The area surrounding the hostel was extremely noisy, even at night and late at night. We witnessed street robberies during our stay (twice: once at midnight and once during the day). The fan provided was very old and dirty. We were also very dissatisfied with the shared toilets, bathrooms, and cafeteria. Regardless, we managed to get through our stay at the hostel. We loved Barcelona and plan to return next year, but we definitely won't be booking a hostel. I'd opt for a hotel.
It was literally terrible experience. The rooms are incredibly tiny, our baggage’s can’t fit in. The walls are so thin and there was no soundproofing. Baths and toilets were nearly dirty all the time. Cleaning staffs just swiped the half of the floor and left. Location is not that bad you can walk anywhere in 30-40 minutes but the area was just terrifying. Beds are thin and sponge and there are no curtains. Last but not least don’t trust the elevator because it’s damaged…
The location is good - gothic quarter is nice and close to the beach. Place is clean but very basic. Negatives: 2 of the lockers in our room were broken, so we couldn't lock our belongings away, despite bringing padlocks with us. They require you to make and strip your own bed which feels very basic, even for a hostel.
Expensive hostel for what it is, location is okay, right next to the beach…everything is tired and worn out, kitchen is dirty and leaky, rooms are stuffy and unbearably hot. Staff are not so friendly either. It is fine for basic stay for one or two nights max
Super hot, fan in room was extremely dusty and did not work, window opened on to the balcony of another hostel, so basically there was no way to cool down the room. Beds were very dirty. Sheets we received from front desk had blood stains on them. Bathroom looked like it has not been cleaned in years. Whole entire hostel had a smell of just must.
Stayed here for 3 nights and what a horrible experience - The bed covers were all dirty with yellow marks everywhere, bunk bed had hair & chewing gum stuck to the sides, floor was absolutely dirty and even after asking to re-clean, nothing was done. The room felt like a Jail for 2 people + smell of humidity inside the room at all times was unbearable. The lift lights stopped working and lift got stuck at our floor and the door didn't open. Horrible experience with 0 respect for hygine.
Do not stay here!! I had the worst experience here. From the hostel just being overall unclean and smelling like sewage, to the staff not allowing me to change into other available rooms when I felt unsafe in my dorm. There was absolutely no atmosphere so it was difficult so meet people and it was really weird how I had to hang my room key into reception every single time I left the hostel. If you are a female solo traveler, definitely skip this place.

Mi inconformidad es con el dormitorio que me asignaron ya que fue un dormitorio nada que ver a como se ve en las fotos del Hostal. Mi dormitorio era aparte de super pequeño, solo había 1 litera. Osea me sentí engañada por su propaganda en la app.
My dissatisfaction is with the dormitory that was assigned to me as it was a dormitory nothing like what you see in the photos of the Hostel. my dormitory was apart from super small, there was only 1 liter. so I felt cheated by their propaganda on the app.
the facility is quite aged. it could be painted with some bright colour and with better lightening nas suggestion!
I had a problem with my ATM card reservation. I called the hostel and they said I could pay when I arrived. But days before the trip I received a message on WhatsApp to pay online via MB WAY (a Portuguese payment app). I contacted the hostel and it was all fake. But besides the hostel, nobody else knew I was going to pay at the hostel. Strange?
Casi me roban por whatsapp con un link falso que tenía los datos de mi reserva y fui a quejarme con la recepción y no me ayudaron con nada, ni a poner la denuncia ni nada. Me dijeron que ellos no tenían nada que ver, por más que los estafadores tuvieran todos mis datos
I was almost robbed on whatsapp with a fake link that had my reservation details and I went to complain to the reception and they didn't help me with anything, not to put the complaint or anything. they told me that they had nothing to do, even though the scammers had all my data
Perfetto se si vuole spendere poco, non si hanno alte aspettative e si cerca un alloggio con posizione comoda e con tutto ció che è necessario.
Perfect if you want to spend little, don't have high expectations and are looking for accommodation with a comfortable location and everything you need.
Miejsce tanie jak na Barcelonę. Jakosc adekwatna do ceny. Plus za kuchnie na dole gdzie mkzna przygotować posiłek i zjeść. Minus na cienkie sciany przez ktore wszystko słychać.
This is the cheapest place in Barcelona. it's reasonably priced. plus the kitchen downstairs where you can prepare your meals. minus a little science by which everything is heard.
Super chill spot to post up for a night or two.
Basic accommodation, good for budget travellers who won’t spend much time in the room. Staff was nice and helpful. Room was mostly clean but very small and no extra amenities. Felt safe but definitely didn’t have great security on the doors of each room.
Partivamo già scettici per quanto riguarda la struttura e non siamo rimasti delusi: le stanze assomigliano al carcere di Rebibbia con quell'odore pungente di igienizzante. Appena siamo entrati in camera abbiamo notato gli armadietti stile militare sovietico e la stufa sbilenca, a malapena funzionante. Il personale è granitico per la sua compostezza e per questo vorremmo chiedere un aumento a coloro che lavorano alla reception. Ciò nonostante il prezzo è ottimo, idem la posizione. Solo amore...
We were already skeptical about the structure and we were not disappointed: the rooms resembled the prison of Rebibbia with that pungent smell of sanitiser. as soon as we entered the room we noticed the Soviet military style cabinets and the sbilenca stove, which hardly works. the staff is granitic for its compostazza and for this we would like to ask a raise to those who work at the reception. nevertheless the price is excellent, idem la posizione. solo amore

Really good location, friendly stuff and okay clean. The rooms are really small and it was really loud during the night as you could here everything. Would recommend for a night or two but not longer!
Me encanta este hostel por que me senti como en casa. Personal muy amable, hice nuevas amistades y su cocina está equipada, se puede cocinar.
I love this hostel because I felt at home. very friendly staff, I made new friends and their kitchen is equipped, you can cook.

Me and a friend (23 and 24 year old males), stayed in Hostel New York a couple of days ago (28-29 of september 2025). All was really good. It was quiet and convenient. We booked 2 beds in a 4 bed room and it was very comfortable. It is true that you have to do your own bed, but not a problem. A very big pro is that the towel for having a bath is included in the price. The price was really good (30e) considering you are literally in the heart of Barcelona. Also pretty clean. Recommend for sure.

L’hostel est bien situé avec le nécessaire. Les matelas et la literie mériteraient d’être renouvelés, le confort était pas idéal.
The hostel is well located with the necessary. the mattresses and bedding would deserve to be renewed, the comfort was not ideal.
The Hostel is situated in a very good position, I really loved el Barrio Gotico, the only thing I didn’t liked too much is the about to leave the room key at reception every time we would be out of the hostel, yes is 24h reception, but still I didn’t get it. Of course is an old building so is not in a good condition, you can hear for real all the soft conversations from the others rooms and from outside aswell, I would have preferred to get a full bed instead,but anyway I stayed for two nigh...

The rooms itself felt a bit cramped. The bottom bunk didn’t have space to sit up in and there was no AC in the room. The staff was really nice though and the location was prime
The walls next to the bed are have gum on them & stained, and the dorm floors & facilities are dirty. There's only one female toilet for the entire floor (7 dorms). The showers can be entered by anyone dont have anywhere to hang things up & only have a curtain to cover you. No aircon anywhere & the dorm only had two small fans that were dusty. Sweating is constant. I booked ~3 months in advance & only had men in my dorm, no bed curtains and badly placed outlets made me feel unsafe. Dont stay!!!
