left after one night, no security, anyone can walk into anywhere including the restaurant downstairs. the Aircon stopped working, asked to check out and refund, was done no fuss, only to be charged twice more by the hostel. have had to open dispute with Monzo, and then close the account due to Roots Hostel respectively charging my card. avoid
La recepción es en el mismo restaurante, con lo cual si esperas mucho luego te queda todo con olor a comida, los baños súper sucios, el living igual. La puerta de la habitación de chicas no tenía seguro, la zona de duchas tampoco. Lo único a favor la localización y el personal que es bastante agradable
The reception is in the same restaurant, so if you wait too long then you'll be left with everything smelling like food, the super dirty bathrooms, the same living room. the door to the girls room had no insurance, neither did the shower area. the only thing in favor of the location and the staff that is quite nice

Leider muss ich das Roots schlecht bewerten. Alle Angestellten waren zwar nett aber nur drei wirkten auch kompetent (vor allem Momo). Es war leider nicht sehr sauber und die Ausstattung war auch nicht pralle. Eigentlich soll ab 22 Uhr in den Schlafzimmern Nachtruhe herrschen, aber selbst die Angestellten halten sich nicht wirklich daran. Man kann zu jeder Zeit in jedes Zimmer und die Schlüsselkarte gilt nur für den Haupteingang. Man kann zu jeder Zeit jeden mitbringen, was manche auch nutzten
Unfortunately I have to rate Roots poorly. All the employees were nice but only three seemed competent (especially Momo). It was unfortunately not very clean and the equipment was not up to par. Actually, the bedrooms should be in a sleep-over from 10pm, but even the employees don't really stick to it. You can be in any room at any time and the key card is only valid for the main entrance. You can bring anyone with you at any time, which some also used
Overall okay, but only female toilets on two floors, with only 1 or 2 toilets on each. Not the best showers or bathrooms.

I left a day early as the hostel was quite unclean, shower walls were peeling and mouldy. The dorm had a pungent smell my entire 3 night stay, I was lucky my bunk had a window which we kept open even though it was middle of winter. Light coloured curtains were see through and no lockers or security of any type. They only have male toilets on 2nd floor, female on 3rd, and the showers were on 3rd floor, so sometimes you wouldn’t even have the right toilets on ur floor. 30min walk from dontonbori...

Im allgemeinen ist es eine gute Unterkunft. Sehr sauber. Ich fand die Kissen etwas unbequem und es gibt nur einen Aufenthaltsraum in den oberen Räumen. Ansonsten war ich sehr zufrieden. Alleine vom Preis-Leistungsverhältnis würde ich nochmal wiederkommen
Overall it is a good accommodation. very clean. i find the pillows a little uncomfortable and there is only one living room in the upper rooms. otherwise i was very satisfied. just from the price-performance ratio alone i would come back again
Für den Preis völlig in Ordnung. Dennoch sehr minimalistisch (die Föhne im Bad hätte man sich zum Beispiel sparen können, funktionieren eh nicht wirklich) Wenig Raum zum Gepäckverstauen aber machbar. Das personal war immer freundlich. Die Gemeinschaftsarea finde ich sehr uneinladend :( und 2 Toiletten sind auch einfach nicht genug
For the price completely in Ordnung. Dennoch very minimalist (the Föhne im Bad you could have saved yourself, for example, they don't really work eh eh) Little space for luggage storage but affordable. The staff was always friendly. The common area I find very uninhabitable :(and 2 toilets are also simply not enough
12 nights in a dorm room. Don't expect luxury, or ultra cleanliness, it's just a cozy place to stay. Common area is quite a narrow room with just a table and amenities. There are no lockers, just a small lockable cabinet at the second floor, probably away from your dorm, which barely can fit a small backpack, so be prepared fo that. Clean bathrooms and showers, don't worry. They have slippers but, get your own slippers. Staff was quite nice and kind, they prepare awesome takoyaki. Overall good.
All good, apart from no USB charging sockets in the hostel at all. But one of the guys found me one I could plug into the wall socket

Amazing for the prise! Great confortable beds! However, it is weird that the women's toilet is not on the same floor as the women's only room... But otherwise, it is a great hostel!!

Solo estuve una noche y todo fue bien. El precio fue bueno.
I only stayed one night and everything was fine.
The place was Okey. The commonroom was not that good, a little space with few chairs. The location was greate, with walking distance to the city sentrum. Wasnt the cleanest, the beds were just ok, but there was a lot of space in the cubes. Some of the beds were verry Clumpy by the wiering. And it smelled like fries food in the whole building except the bedrooms. But overall it wasn’t that bad, and you get good value for the money, for two to three nights. We would come back.
Pretty good location and staff were friendly! Otherwise not much else great about this hostel, felt generally dirty and run down, no security at all- anyone could walk off the street into the rooms and only tiny lockers available on a separate floor, only two toilets available (also only on a separate floor), one tiny communal room with one table, surprised at the good reviews this place has to be honest!
Overall was perfect! Clean and tidy dorms and bathroom. the showers are just in one floor and there's no door just a sheet to cover the shower space (divided for man and woman) this was a little bothering. There's not really a common space and no kitchen, just the bar at the first floor. Beside this everything else pretty good
Ubicacion dificil. La estacion hommachi es complicada con un recortido de 20 minutos o mas para salir de esa estacion. Hostal muy barato y es lo mejor que tiene.. cama comoda. Pero la limpieza brilla por su ausencia tanto en las habitaciones y baños. Pero asi y todo se recomienda por su precio. Osaka es una ciudad complicada por su caotico transporte
The location is difficult. hommachi station is complicated with a 20-minute or more cut-off to get out of that station. hostel very cheap and it is the best thing it has.. comfortable bed. but the cleanliness shines through by its absence both in the bedrooms and bathrooms. but everything is recommended for its price. osaka is a complicated city by its chaotic transportation

Being my first time in Japan, I didn't know what to expect from the hostels. The staff did their job well but nothing above and beyond. The hostel was very clean and for the period when I travelled, it had excellent value for money. The location was great as it was right near a subway station which is so ideal for getting around. I recommend this for anybody looking to save on their accommodation.
We loved the place! Close to convenient stations and shops/places to eat. The beds were SUPER comfortable and very private the rooms didnt feel over crowded like other places. Loved having the restaurant at the first floor and the staff were friendly. Only cons were that there were only small security lockers not in the rooms. Women’s bathroom not being on the floor i slept on, showers having just a curtain and the constant hair in the sinks (plus water everywhere bc of water pressure of taps)
It was great.
Very clean and organised, havev to take shoes off and wear their shoes way of keeping place clean. The guy who helped cook Tako was very friendly and helpful. Not sure of his name. But he was amazing.
