Backpackers Inn Mcleodganj

This hostel was unwelcoming and dirty. It had not been cleaned properly, the bedsheets had crumbs in them, and we found centipedes in the bed. The toilet leaked onto the bathroom floor. We left early and they did offer us a different room and eventually gave us a refund. They didn't like that we had booked on hostelworld and suggested they gave us a worse room because we didn't pay enough (which was not in our control). No social atmosphere or service.

We arrived in our private room to find mould on the walls and the pillows, the blankets and towels were dirty & had blood stains, and the room felt as though it hadn’t been cleaned. When we tried to go to sleep, I had an allergic reaction to the dust on the blanket. We could’ve asked to switch rooms but the state of this room was so bad we decided it was best to just pack up and go elsewhere. my worst hostel experience ever. no management and not a hygienic place.

The staff laughed in our faces when we shared concerns about a random man (who was not staying at the hostel) walking into our dorm and harassing us after we repeatedly asked him to leave. Zero security and zero shits given.

This is one of the worst hostel experiences I have ever had. The staff didn’t seem to even care that guests were there. When I arrived (in the middle of the day), I had to wake up the only person seemingly working there, who acted extremely annoyed that I was there. Someone spilled a soda in our room, and I asked to have it cleaned up, which I was told “later.” So I asked for a towel and cleaned it myself. Good thing, because no one cleaned the room during my entire stay. The general vibe ...

There was no water at all !!! not even for flush a toilet... forget about shower... How is even this hostel on the website???

The manager/care taker moved us to a different place saying it is the only standalone room they have and there were no other backpackers there. wasted my money, please look out for other hostel

Nightmarish. I did not end up sleeping there, althought I never asked to be refunded because it was really cheap. The room door would not close and had all types of dirtiness: hair, cigarrete buts, cobbwebs, dust, grease, humidity....

Cons No vibe. Staff appeared sleepy, unmotivated and always on their phones. They didn't always present as helpful. When I pulled back the pillows covers, the pillows were covered in a lot of mold! Pros Good location - close to the square. Cheap (and for good reason).

Beautiful view, good location, kind staff. I went to visit again

Lack of cleannesses

The property has two buildings. The first housed the dormitories and the reception. The second houses the private rooms. I had a private room. The reception area and building was the dirtiest place I'd ever been. I was so shocked I wanted to leave. Fortunately the private room was ok. I never saw any staff after I checked in

Great place! Nice view and friendly staff here, there's also a beautiful rooftop terrace, ideal for stargazing evenings.

The views from our balcony were just superb , seeing over the valley to the mountain range , snow peaks catching the sun , eagles kind of birds soaring , magnificent ! The owner has good English and a ready smile offering whatever assistance we needed, carrying our suitcases Ali g the many steps when we arrived and left and finding us a taxi for our journey out. We arrived quite late in the evening so we were offered room service daal and toti . Upstairs is a terrace for simple breakfasts etc

Really have very good experience at the hostel.

the mixed dorm was just four single beds in a small room - no privacy and was quite cramped. the toilet leaked when flushed and the bathroom was a bit muddy. the terrace is stunning and a great place to hang out, but there isn't much of an atmosphere or vibe in the place to meet other travellers. the staff are wonderful and helpful though!

The Hostel is situated in a good place but you have to walk down some stairs to reach it. Staff is very friendly and helpful but at the time I’ve stayed there it was empty almost no people unfortunately. Value for money 👍

Backpackers Inn is a wonderful hostel right in the heart of Mcleodganj. The staff is friendly, helpful and flexible, and there are wonderful views from both of the terraces and each room's balcony. I really appreciated that both rooms I stayed in had their own private balcony. It is a perfect budget-friendly option for backpackers where you will get "bang for your buck"!

We had an incredible time here with Ganesh and his friends . They are lovely and creat a great atmosphere . It feels like being at home Thank you so much for your great hospitality

Good location in the city but be prapared for a lot of stairs and tiny path to get there. If you have a backpack it will be fine. In general Dharamshala is full of garbage and unfortunately in this hostel it's not possible to take rest from that. We got a good room with the private bathroom and balcony. The view was super nice. But room wasn't clean. The blankets weren't fresh. I did laundry there and white clothes came dirty and I lost 3 socks. Good enough if you need really cheap stay.

Beautiful location, Very helpful person always look for Ganesh bhai, helped me more than what was required, also helped me use service even when I checked out

It was a nice Hostel in total but it was super dead. Met only two or three people during my three night stay. During the day we didn’t have water most days. The Terrace is amazing tho

Nice Hostel for bag packer and staff is very friendly and supporting. Just need to work on renovation of hostel wall a little bit as it starting showing it long age,
