Die bisherigen guten Bewertungen kann ich durchaus nachvollziehen, das Hostel an sich und die Zimmer sind sehr schön, das Team echt nett. Für mich war es aber ein eher enttäuschender Aufenthalt. Ich hatte mich darauf gefreut hier über Weihnachten 3 ruhige Tage in der Natur zu verbringen, dies wurde jedoch durch anhaltende Bauarbeiten von 7:30 bis 21 Uhr am Haus zunichte gemacht. Meiner Meinung nach sollte man das seinen Gästen vor der Anreise mitteilen!
I can quite understand the good reviews so far, the hostel itself and the rooms are very nice, the team really nice. for me it was a rather disappointing stay, however. i had been looking forward to spending 3 quiet days in nature here over christmas, but this was ruined by the continuous construction work from 7:30 to 21:00 am am Haus. in my opinion one should inform one's guests before arrival!
i can see the potential for Habibi, however it doesn’t currently look like the pictures. there are building works on the outside which make it look like an abandoned building and the roof was out of action so there is little to no common area. the front of house staff are friendly but there were three cleaners in our room who did not smile or say one word, which we thought was odd given that everybody we met in Sri Lanka is so friendly. we didn’t end up staying here as we just had a bad vi...
Almost £40 for a room without A/C for ONE night (my fault for not double checking info but I assumed ‘deluxe’ included A/C!) and the heat was truly unbearable. $8 for a load of laundry, nowhere to refill water bottles except as a ‘favour’ from the bar on the roof. Powercut meant no shower or charging available. Also when I was paying the manager/owner tried to charge me 18% extra as tax saying it was normal for Sri Lanka and other hostels were doing it wrong. Terrible value for money.
This property is nice but please remember to let them know upon check in if anything’s missing cuz then they subtly blame it on you and will come check your room multiple times
The bedsheets smelled really weird and the blanket on the bed definitely hadn't been washed. Nice rooftop area.
Not very social
Really overpriced for not having AC. The rooms were really hot. It’s a bit far out of town up a hill so not great location. Barely saw anyone while I was here, the staff didn’t give us a key for the gate so we got locked out. Just weird vibes in general. Definitely do not understand the hype from all the reviews!
Gorgeous property and surroundings, good value and friendly and accommodating owners. The rooftop was lush for chilling in the morning with a coffee and a book. A little bit out of the main strip but only a 10 minute walk. It’s a shame the restaurant wasn’t open due to ‘off season’ even though it was close to full every nights!
The room was very clean and the staff were nice, however the location was very hard to get to and was hard to get transport for a reasonable price to and from Unawatuna. Pick me tuktuks would not go up there.

Such an amazing hostel, one of the best i’ve ever stayed in, such a beautiful building and the rooms were so clean and modern, the balcony bar area is lovely and a great place to watch the sunset and the owners couldn’t have been nicer! :)
Wow what an amazing hostel, it's a lovely walk to the beach, this hostel is a hidden gem, very clean, very safe, they make the best ice teas, I met some amazing backpackers here, and the owners are lovely, friendly and they help with any questions you have. I really enjoyed getting to know them, and I would love to return one day. It's the perfect hostel to relax

Sehr schönes, ruhiges Hostel mit privatsphäre. Gemütliche Zimmer mit Balkon, schöner Gemeinschaftsbereich und sehr modern und sicher. Die Lage ist Bergauf über Unawatuna (ca. 15min zu Fuß in die Stadt) und dadurch sehr ruhig und angenehm. Für Personen die nicht gut bergauf oder ab laufen können daher nicht geeignet. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit.
Very nice, quiet hostel with privacy. cozy rooms with balcony, beautiful communal area and very modern and safe. the location is Bergauf über Unawatuna (about 15min walking into the city) and therefore very quiet and pleasant. therefore not suitable for persons who cannot run. the staff is very friendly and helpful.

I had a great stay, the owners are adorable.
Very chilled hostel in Unawatuna, friendly staff and great food. We stayed in the 4 bed dorm which was comfortable with a good shower. Location wise the hostel is around 10 minute walk from the Main Street, it is up a hill though and some of the tuk tuk drivers were reluctant to drive up the hill - or wanted to charge extra. Good access to Unawatuna beach or jungle beach the other side. Nice rooftop bar, food was excellent - definitely worth trying!

Didn‘t even plan to go here and booked it last minute, but this turned out to be one of my favorite hostels! The owners are super welcoming and helpful, always smiling and up for a chat! Rooms are super nice and clean and the food is sooo good! I would have stayed longer if I could :)
Der Eigentümer ist super nett und jederzeit zur Stelle, wenn man etwas benötigt. Auch das Hostel als solches ist bestimmt genial (siehe andere Bewertungen). Nur leider finden aktuell Bauarbeiten statt (wovon man nicht vor oder nach der Buchung informiert wurde) Diese können etwas Lärm verursachen und schränken das Betreten, der Terrasse unten und der beiden Fachterrassen extrem stark ein. Erkundigt euch vorher, ob alles wieder beim alten ist! Es soll noch ca. 2 Wochen dauern.
The owner is super nice and always on hand if you need anything. the hostel als solches is also definitely great (see other reviews). only unfortunately there are current construction works taking place (of which you were not informed before or after the booking) These can cause some noise and limit the entrance, the terrace below and the two Fachterrassen extremely strongly. inform you in advance if everything is back to the old way! it should still take about 2 weeks.

The hostel is very new and the rooms are beautiful! Everyone was so nice. It’s a very quiet hostel for now but has a lot of potential to have a very social and chill vibe!

Wir hatten eine wunderbare Zeit!! Der Gastgeber war super freundlich und hat mit uns gemeinsam den Abend ausklingen lassen, wobei er uns ganz viele Tipps für Sri Lanka weitergeben konnte. Im Hostel gab es eine liebe und familiäre Stimmung und wir freuen uns irgendwann nochmal wieder zu kommen!
We had a wonderful time!! the host was super friendly and let us spend the evening together, whereby he was able to pass on to us a lot of tips for Sri Lanka. the hostel had a loving and family atmosphere and we look forward to coming back again some day!
