This hostel was gross and so close to the road it was so loud. The room I stayed in was terrible. There’s holes in the roof and the bathroom genuinely looked like a crackhouse. The staff was nice and breakfast was good. I just would not recommend this place. The photos make it look way better but it’s very deceiving.
The 8 bed dorm is a complete dump. There’s a gap between the wall and the ceiling, and it’s right next to the road so it was very noisy all night long. The mattresses are lumpy and uncomfortable, and the bathrooms genuinely look like something out of a crackhouse. There is also no staff or night guard present at night making it feel very unsafe. The place is also big and very quiet and the vibe just felt off. And the worst part they charge you to fill up your water bottle, like wtf?
The vibe was weird and the employees looked like they didn't wanted to be there. There was also a lot of ants and spiders in my room. the food from the restaurant tasted bad. At least the view from the hostel deck was great.
Het voelde alsof ik midden in een bouwput verbleef. Om 7 uur ‘s ochtends begint de drilboor, ik heb het nog nooit zo slecht gehad in een privé kamer. Ik vind het vooral heel erg slecht dat niemand mij bij het inchecken vertelde dat er momenteel aan alle kanten constructies bezig zijn, dit kan echt niet met alsnog de volle pond rekenen voor de kamer. Ook zag ik de werkmannen letterlijk vanuit mijn bed en zij mij dus ook, ik heb zelf om extra lakens gevraagd voor het gevoel van privacy.
I felt like I was in the middle of a construction site. at 7am every morning the drill begins, I have never had it so bad in a private room. I find it especially very bad that no one told me at check-in that there are currently construction works on all sides, this really can't be done with as much as full pound of accounting for the room. I also saw the workers literally from my bed and so did they, so I asked for extra sheets myself for the sense of privacy.
Staff came off as rude and extremely inefficient. Most of them didn’t even speak Spanish which made it very hard for my two friends to communicate. Overheard multiple arguments between staff, mostly blaming each other poor service. For a place trying to cultivate a “free spirit” vibe, the staff were kind of a-holes. The other patrons were incredibly nice I must say, and the location was beautiful. Overall I wouldn’t have stayed here if I knew it was ran by White Americans. Poorly ran kit...
Worst hostel experience so far. Dirty toilets. Only one toilet for all of the dorms, also the seat was missing. Also the stuff didn’t bother to clean the toilet or empty the bin more that once a day. It looked horrible!! Also the rooms were bad. I had ants in my bed for two nights straight.. and got food poisoning from the dinner/breakfast there. Haven’t had any other food than there. Also one of my room mates had food poisoning and was claiming the hostel. lol I could go on with this..
I am not a picky person but i didnt like this hostel. The dorms were very run down and smelled mouldy. beds didnt look like at the pictures so it was kind of a scam. the staff itself is very in their own hippie bubble, they werent very friendly and never really spoke to the guests. whe checked out at christmas and a nice good bye and thank you doesnt need much effort, but they were all in their own christmasparty already behind the desk. maybe if u like hippie run down vibes you might like it…
Honestly one of the worst hostel experience I ever had. They put us in a room straight next to the street it was super loud, tuktuks passing by the whole time. This room is called nariz, there a no pics of this form online. Sheets and toilets smelly and moldy. Beds super uncomfortable. Staff seemed to live in its own bubble, not interested in guests at all. No hello or bye. Vibe just weird. Beer cans, trash and cigarette buds everywhere. Only good thing is the view and the breakfast.
Beware that taxes are not included. 22% tax added on when you book. After that it felt like they were trying to more money. Multiple times had to insist on getting change back. Half the staff was great the other half was rude. Beds are not comfortable or stable and rooms felt dirty. Very pretty location on the lake to hang out.

Great hostel for a chill stay in San Marcos. Friendly staff, delicious free breakfast and super convenient to town, the nature reserve and the dock. Only down side is you have to pay for drinking water, and there wasn’t much information available on things to do around the area 😊
It was great overall but the cleanliness could have been better. Also they don’t have a fridge for you to put things in and they refuse to put anything of yours in their fridge. Just seems like a little upgrade they could do. Also only place I’ve had to pay for water. Yoga was awesome though and location is great:)
very nice hostel that almost felt like a resort! huge property with lots of chilling areas. yoga classes were awesome and convenient. great views of the lake :)
Best value for money hostel I have stayed in in Guatemala. Breakfast + tea/coffee included, the breakfast was good too. Amazing lake views with private lakeside area was the best thing about this hostel. Very short walk to the nature reserve where you can swim in the water. Dorm was very basic but the sheets were clean. Bathroom in dorm could have been cleaner but was still fine. Showers were hot. They provided a towel, you just needed 100 quetzales deposit which you got back at checkout.
Super cozy Hostel mit einer tollen Lage direkt am See, Sonnendeck, Yoga-Angeboten, gutem Frühstück (inkl.) und einer schönen Dachterasse mit tollem Ausblick über den See! Die Zimmerausstattung ist in Ordnung, Badezimmer sehr rudimentär, kleine Locker, nur Wolldecken und sporadische Vorhänge an den Betten. Aber der Female Dorm ist ziemlich gut und ruhig gelegen :-) ich hab die entspannte Atmosphäre sehr genossen und problemlos um eine Nacht verlängern können
Super cozy Hostel with a tollen Location directly on the lake, Sonnendeck, Yoga-Offers, gutem Frühstück (incl.) and a beautiful Dachterasse with a great view over the lake! The room furnishings is in Ordnung, Bathroom very rudimentary, small Locker, only Wolldecken and sporadic Curtains an den Betten. But the Female Dorm is pretty gut und ruhig gelegen :-) ich hab die entspannte Atmosphäre sehr genossen und problemlos um eine Nacht verlängern können
Two staff members made the experience wonderful, guided me ask over town, good food and vibes. Arlene is her name I think, I honestly forget but she recorded a spot for pad Thai, it was delicious!
Staff war super nett und hilfsbereit. Essen war lecker, Lage direkt am See. Preis Leistung war allerdings fragwürdig. Trotz fast 50 Euro die Nacht war das Einzelzimmer sehr muffig, das Bad schimmelig und überall Ameisen.
The staff was super nice and helpful. the food was delicious, the location was direct am See. the price was however questionable. despite fast 50 Euro a night the single room was very muffig, the Bad schimmelig and everywhere ants.

The Mixed Dorm (9beds) is directly next to the street and very loud. Everything else, also the food and the location are nice :)
Nice hostel on the water, easy to get to from the main pier in San Marcos (less than 10 min walk). Breakfast was so good and there are a lot of yoga classes and other things that you can be apart of for a little extra. Room was very basic but fine.
Lovely hostel with amazing view of the lake. Lovely staff and delicious free breakfast. It was a bit of a walk to the main strip and my bed was a bit rickety
My private room was pretty grim for the amount it cost. It was dusty and the bed was uncomfy and there was one light that was the ugliest fluorescent white light and it was barely bright enough. The staff was super unfriendly, specifically the British blondish woman. She was incredibly rude, practically rolling her eyes at me when I asked how does early check out work. Overall I would never stay here again, it didnt feel welcoming at all
Unfortunately I didn’t get to experience this hostel or San Marcos in the way I wanted to. I ended up getting very ill while I was there. However I will say that the staff and everyone. there was so helpful offering to go out and get me electrolytes, making sure that I had clean bedding and giving me directions to a free clinic! I personally wouldn’t have chosen to stay in San Marcos if I knew the vibe of the town it was just different… but the staff was so kind to me while I was there and...

Me quedé en ma habitación compartida femenina y fue una buena experiencia, el ambiente es muy tranquilo, hay clases de yoga y las vistas al lago hermosas. El desayuno está incluido y es delicioso
I stayed in my women's room and it was a good experience, the atmosphere is very quiet, there are yoga classes and the view of the beautiful lake.

Pros: The vibe in this hostel is quite amicable, chill and relax, the breakfast is delicious and it is a good value for money. 💖 The biggest con: They charge for water refills, I didn’t experience this in any of my other hostels so I would like to warn others about this, the lockers in the rooms were quite small.
Great place, but dorms are really loud, streeet is next to the dorm “Nariz” and could not sleep well The staff was really nice 🫶🏼
This hostel has a lovely lakefront area, yoga space, sauna, decking as well as a rooftop restaurant that is often busy. Showers are separate to bedrooms but hot water and just a short walk. My stay was tainted by my clothes being stolen from the washing line, but some of the staff were extremely helpful. You have to pay for water but not too expensive.
Absolutely stunning! The staff are so kind and the location is right on the lake. The 8-bed mixed dorm is near the street, but if you bring a pair of ear plugs it will be fine. The other dorms/rooms are tucked further back in much quieter locations. Also, both free breakfast options are amazing!! Absolutely recommend this place :)
