I had a paid and confirmed booking, but was told to leave when I tried to check in, because I don't own a credit card.

Do not stay at this hostel. Initially, it may appear cheaper than those in Amsterdam, but once you account for transport to and from the hostel (nearly 25 euros per person on public transport), it makes much more sense to stay in Amsterdam. Some of the guests appear not to be travelers, but rather locals who do not have their own homes. The place is overrun with smoking and drinking, and noisy into the night. Worst of all, the staff are horrendous, unhelpful, and preoccupied.

Ich war kein Gast vom Flying Pig Hostel, sondern vom Nachbarhotel the Bloom und hatte das Zimmer direkt neben dem Eingang des Hostels. Vor dem Hotel wurde an allen Nächten von 22 Uhr bis mindestens 3 Uhr in der Nacht laut gefeiert. Jedes Hotel trägt eine Verantwortung dass die Nachtruhe eingehalten wird, schließlich bezahlt man egal ob Hostel oder Hotel, viel Geld um einen Schlafplatz nutzen zu können, das setzt voraus, dass man schlafen kann. I got a bed right next to window and the car passing made endless noise and it made no way to sleep, the shower room downstair condition is pretty bad. Lastly, the door slaps by people coming in and out unconsciously made sleep even worse. You can tell the owner doesn’t really putting effort into details of traveller experience

We had an absolutely amazing time as this hostel. The rooms were cheap and very nice. They were cleaned almost daily and so our living space was always comfortable. The bar and common area was always welcoming and social. All the staff and clients were very chill and kind. It is possible to have both a chill time here as well as a good party when you want it 😁 The location is in my opinion one of the nicest areas of the Netherlands. Echt eine großartige Erfahrung! Als junger Reisender aus Deutschland habe ich mich sofort wie zu Hause gefühlt.
