Memories Weligama

Unfortunately me and my friends had an upsetting and scary stay here at memories. When we first arrived we were pleased - apart from the yellow deteriorating floor in our dorm. However, the owner of the hostel ‘happy’, really ruined our stay. He was incredibly pushy and creepy to my 19yo friend, texting her strange things and begging her to sleep in his bed. Not only that, he made all of us , feel watched and intimidated. We ended up leaving as a result of this. I would not recommend stayin...

Owner wasn't there on arrival so some other person just showed me the dorm. Owner came the next day and kept walking in and out of dorm waking people up. She doesn't take any passport details so is not doing things officially. The bathroom was full of ants on arrival, also some in the room and she blamed us and said its because women are dirty! It says breakfast is included on booking but wanted to charge us extra for it. She had already made 1 breakfast even though no one had asked for anything...

This hostel was okay but I don’t think it deserves the high rating it currently has. The bathroom facility was not great. However, the host is very kind and welcoming.

Our drain in the bathroom haven’t been cleaned, because the water kept rising while taking a shower. You could only have a hot shower with the shower head or a cold one with the stationary shower head :( The activities they said they provided at the hostel (as the yoga) doesn’t exist, unless you or some of the other residents at the hostel wants to host a session at the rooftop…. We didn’t really enjoy this hostel unfortunately. The property itself, while clean, had the feel of a former office block and was really quiet during our stay. Also, in my opinion the owners overcharge for everything considering the actual quality provided, whether it‘s the room, the laundry, scooter, meals etc - we always spent less on our following trip. There‘s also a school right next door, which blasts music from 7am so no lay-ins possible apart from the weekend.

Das Hostel an sich ist wirklich super! Das Personal ist sehr zuvorkommend und unglaublich nett!! Ich hatte das 10Bettzimmer gebucht, ich war erst einmal erschrocken, obwohl es genauso aussah wie auf den Bildern. Es riecht sehr nach Schimmel und dieser ist auch an relativ vielen Stellen sichtbar! Dennoch war es sauber genauso das Badezimmer. Wenn man super viel Geld sparen möchte empfiehlt sich dieses mehr Bett Zimmer!

Die Common area ist super schön und es ist sehr angenehm, sich dort aufzuhalten. Der Dorm ist ok, die Betten sind etwas kurz. Das Bad könnte bei 12 Personen regelmäßiger gereinigt werden. Es gibt abgesehen von den kleinen Lockern keine Schlüssel und jeder kann jederzeit in den Dorm kommen. Trotz allem hatte ich eine super Zeit in dem Hostel!

AMAZING! One of my favorite hostels ever, the owners are incredible kind and always wants to help with anything you need! They can give you a ride, make amazing juices or take you to the best party spots. Would definitely recommend

Amazing experience at Memories Weligama. We had a great time in the city, the hostel is close to the main beach, we managed to go surfing every morning during our stay thanks to the hosts’ recommendations. The breakfast was really good. The staff was lovely and very helpful. Thank you for everything, we will definitely come back!

Memories Weligama has so nice people working there, always in a good mood. the facilities are clean and modern. the breakfast is great and the value for money is super good. strongly recomend! :)

one of our favourite hostels. Run by a Son and Mother, they are both wonderful people. always so kind and accomodating, super chill vibes. delicious fresh food and juices. also a great location. definitely stay here if in weligama, the value is insane, such a nice experience.

Really friendly staff, felt welcome from the moment I walked in. Beds were good quality, clean and comfortable. Multiple showers and toilets both indoor and outdoor. So never have to wait for a shower. The sitting area is so big and such a great social vibe. Thank you Dimuth and looking forward to visiting again.

Staff is taking care of you like you mean the world to them

Schönes, offenes Gemeinschaftsareal, extrem freundliche Inhaber und gutes, reichliches Frühstück. Unser Doppelzimmer war super sauber. Das einzige, was ich vielleicht verbessern würde, wäre ein Duschvorhang, um das Bad nicht immer unter Wasser zu setzen.

Very good value for money. Hostel was nearly empty when I went, but the host is very friendly and wants to help with anything. Overall, nice stay in Weligama and would go back when I’m there again.

Had a lovely stay here, The owner is the sweetest sweetest host and treated us amazingly, fresh smoothies every day. She helped booking the scooters and was kind and very easy. Very nice interior as well. Thank you Memories!

I’ve really enjoyed my 8 day stay at Memories, everything was clean, you have a lot of space and a nice common area and the possibility to rent a scooter right at the hostel. The air con works really well, there’s multiple bathrooms and the breakfast was delicious. I would 100% recommend the hostel to my friends and would love to come back some day. Thank you

Lovely place to stay and relax, the lady who owns the hostel (Sham) is wonderful and will often give you help snd clean the rooms. Chilled hostel.
