I stayed here that night. ‒ It was over seven o'clock when I arrived. ‒ When I finished the paperwork and needed to pay, I found that the quick-dry pocket with the cash in it was stuck, and could not be opened. ‒ What a tricky little problem. ‒ The landlady helped me try and failed. ‒ I pointed at the scissors and she didn't approve. ‒ Then she took a needle and taught me to pick the line because she didn't wear a flower opener. ‒ A big compliment, I put the bracelet back on. ‒ W...
Very friendly Host:) They help you with everything! Everything is clean and tidy. We really enjoyed our stay.

Carlos was very nice and helpful.
This hostel is great! The owner is really lovely and helpful, the property is clean and well looked after and it’s in a great location - just a 15 min walk to the Plaza or a short walk to the mall if needed. There are also two beautiful dogs as well! Would definitely recommend and stay again :)
Ruta Alterna is new on Hostelworld, but has been operating for 8 years. Carlos made me feel very welcome. He was very helpful in getting information on how to visit all the different sites around Cajamarca and even had some tips for places that are not well known by international travelers. The city centre is within walking distance but the local market around the corner was very nice and full of fresh fruit. The owner has two dogs and a nice cat. Free breakfast was a little different every day
