Hostel Balkaneros

It’s ok. It’s cheap. The beds are very uncomfortable though. There’s not much of a social vibe but it was raining when we were there and the staff do try to arrange social activities - which is nice. The owner is great! It’s a bit out of the way though…

Everything was fine except for the mattress (we had the private room for 2). You could feel the innerspring on your bones. The volunteers were super friendly though. As soon as we told them they changed our room.

Place is alright, for a night in Mostar is enough, didn’t like two things, the shower drain couldn’t be any worse, you end up with water up to your ankles so they need to fix that, and second the light outside the rooms will bother at your room because only a cristal window is in between so if you don’t have an eye mask and you need darkness for a good sleep you won’t have it

very small kitchen area which is in front of the reception which makes it awkward and hard to navigate if other people are in there. the owner sleeps on the couch which is also odd, he consistently was telling us to be quiet when we weren’t even loud sitting outside before the quiet hours had even begun and telling us to go downstairs which we didn’t want to cause we smoked. the location is good as it’s close to the bridge

very well located hostel. we had AC but someone of the staff turned it off during the night and opened the window, so it was hard to sleep… apart from that there’s big lockers and storage space, very nice.

The vibe of the hostel is nice.The hostel staff is very nice and the ac is the strongest I've experienced in a hostel. I enjoyed my stay here but there are things that could be better. The mattresses are not comfortable. you can feel the springs and other guests agreed with me. Anyone can enter the building since the key is only for the room which you're not supposed to lock if someone is in there(so it just doesn't get locked)

The owner was so kind and helpful. The volunteers were awesome. We did the day tour and had a great time. Overall really positive experience!

Very nice place, was very quiet when I was visiting hence wasn’t able to do the tour which was promoted.

This was a great hostel great staff especially Tyler he was such a great person and a kind heart made me feel welcome would recommend any traveler’s to stay here if in Mostar

It felt like home right away.The beds have curtains, and everything — from the bathroom to the common areas — was super clean.Staff were kind and helpful, and the atmosphere made it easy to meet people.Check-in was smooth, with a welcome iced tea and great info from Fedja.Don’t miss the waterfalls tour — it’s a cultural experience, not just a trip. Hostel Balkaneros is a great experience!! The hostel itself is lovely and relaxed with a really social atmosphere. Free homemade iced tea and an amazing tour to some local spots including gorgeous waterfalls to swim at - all ran by the owner who’s hilarious and great to spend a day with. Rooms are spacious with AC, free use of huge lockers and free baggage storage. Super friendly staff is always there to assist with any questions and recommendations. Thanks everyone :)

Had an amazing time in the hostel. The owner, Fedja, is probably one of the best Balkan people you’d meet. The tour with him was filled with his jokes and insights into Balkan culture

We loved staying here! Short walk from town and had a great day tour with the owner. Would definitely suggest it and seems like a great place to volunteer as well

Great hostel with great facilities. Very clean and good value. Unfortunately the owner has a very short temper and doesn’t believe in human rights. But yes I would stay here again.

Such a warm welcome - a really cool hostel, & felt very at home... Thank you! Big information board with lots of helpful things, & the ice-tea upon arrival was very kind & welcome. Beds with privacy curtains, although top bunk I had had no plug socket. Would definitely recommend if you're in Mostar.

Overall a good hostel. I slept so good because of the cold AC and thick blankets. Owner is a funny guy, I liked the daytrip to Hercegovina. Volunteers were really nice too, although there was not much of a social vibe in the hostel. I didn’t mind personally but maybe something to consider. Also the wifi in the dorm was basically non-existent and I usually had to wait for the bathroom (there were 2 for all the dorms).

One of the best hostels I’ve ever stayed in!! Such a lovely calm experience in the middle of nature, and right beside the beach. Each morning I went to the beach to sunrise which was amazing. There was lots of wildlife too. Right beside the bus stop. Couldn’t have been a better stay! Thank you

Had an amazing experience at this hostel. If you are visiting Mostar, this is the place to stay! After travelling for so long it was so nice to find a hostel with such a welcoming, social and relaxed atmosphere. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the location is ideal for exploring the old town. The true highlight of my trip was the tour led by the owner himself to the Kravice waterfalls and surrounding areas. It exceeded all expectations and is definitely a must-do!
