Tolarno Hotel

+ Didn't get it

- The bed bugs nd god knows i didn't like a thing about motel room or amenities

+ close to the tram stop, staff were helpful when I couldn't find the property, flexible when I asked to move

- Overpriced, dirty, tiny rooms, noisy (street noise & also from the creaky floorboards), old/rundown, reception closed at 7pm,

- No hot water literally the worst

+ The art on the walls

- Rooms were not c l ean, full ashtray on the balcony, coffee stain

+ Room is spacious and good location.

- Really bad experience. It was poorly maintained. Starting off with the unpleasant smell coming from the bathroom and turned out it was mold. The exhaust fan was not working. Fleece blankets were available but it didn’t smell nice either. And to be honest, I don’t know when was the last time they washed them. Loud noises from the streets and from other rooms. The guy on the front desk was helpful though.

+ The staff were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the rooms allow smoking on the balcony's and the smell throughout the hallways and the rooms was awful. My friend and I requested a refund and stayed elsewhere. The hotel staff were understanding and apologetic.

+ Not a damn thing as I didn't actually get to stay. There was nobody there at reception around 6PM which is ridiculous. Just a message from day before on booking.com that my cc was declined. I had to find another hotel after a 12 hour workday.

I was working too hard to obsess about random messages on Booking.com. I didn't even see it. Would have been nice if someone was there instead of arriving after a 12 hour workday to a locked door & no way of contacting anyone. I stayed with Tolarno many times over 17 years but its little more than a run down poorly managed shadow of "the original art hotel" it claims to be, Used to be a friendly check in from Orlando & staff there into the evening. Not any more just a cost cutting frenzy, restaurant not operating. Was once a brilliant restaurant run by Guy Grossi.

+ Non è possibile stimare nulla di positivo, eccetto la reception per la cordialità e la disponibilità.

- La stanza era minuscola, una piccola finestra dove a mala pena poteva circolare l' aria. Il materasso era vecchio e in alcune parti presentava degli avvallamenti. Mio marito si è lamentato di vari morsi, supponiamo che ci siano state le cimici. Il bagno era piccolo e non soddisfacente, non riesco a capire come possa avere un 4 stelle, credo che nemmeno con una stella possa essere valutato. Abbiamo prenotato per soli due giorni, ma era talmente terribile che abbiamo trascorso solo una notte e abbiamo immediatamente cercato un altro alloggio. Consiglio solo per chi voglia provare una notte Horror e insonne.

+ It was so funky and groovy when we arrived the man was so kind and lovely even letting us check in early. Nothing was any trouble. So close to everything. Overall an absolute no fuss and easy process.

- Loved it all - if your wanting perfection and upto date modern room , this place will dissapoint as it is oldish and rundown ( as in outdated) however very clean, if you love older style ,groovy not fussed on modern, immculate vibes this is perfect.

- old mattress cracked sink just old and tired. Stayed here 25 years ago i don’t think anything has been updated since then. Wasn’t cheap. I think they have long stay guests…..more like a boarding house

- The bed was small and hard. The suite smelled a bit musty.

+ Conveniently placed for time out in St Kilda. Cheaper than other places nearby.

- Shower has a lot of mould. Not enough wine glasses, mugs & other kitchen items for 4 people

- Facility, street people at the entrance to the building and coming inside the building entrance made me uncomfortable and a bit nervous

+ Location and decor, loved the art on display. Rooms were large enough and decent bathroom and in room facilities. Decent stay for the price.

- Dust noticable on fan and higher skirtings and hot water system was a bit tempremental.

+ Just a phenomenal experience. The staff, the room, the experience - everything was 10/10. Loved everything

- We thought the hotel seems a bit different to the image presented online, when heading to our room the first time there were several art installations that provoked some discomfort and unease for myself and my partner.
