The facilities are terrible, the common space is really small, they choose the beauty instead of something usefull.
Slechtste ervaring in een hostel in NZ van de afgelopen 2 maanden reizen. Geen koelkast ruimte, onvriendelijk en luid personeel. Housekeeping begint om 5.30 met de badkamers poetsen terwijl ze met de deur open heel luid van de ene naar de andere badkamer naar elkaar schreeuwen. Geen prullenbak in de kamer waardoor er in de hoek allemaal afval ligt, de lockers hebben geen nut omdat je bunkbed mate in jouw locker kan. Badkamer deuren vallen enorm luid dicht ongeveer 100 x per nacht, naast je bed.
No refrigerated room, friendly and loud staff. Housekeeping starts at 5.30 with the bathrooms being cleaned while they keep the door open very loud from one bathroom to the other shouting at each other. No trash bin in the room so there's all the trash lying in the corner, the lockers have no nut because you can bunkbed mate in your locker. Bathroom doors close enormously loud about 100 times a night, next to your bed.
Positives: Comfy beds, nice showers, pleasant staff, great location Negatives: my bedside lamp did not work, the showers have nowhere to leave clothes so you have to put them on the floor, fridges far too full constantly and very frustrating, tap water tastes poor, the doors slam shut very loud in the rooms which I hated. Guaranteed to wake up when people come in late because of the door, common area sub par and not relaxing Shame as this place has just been renovated and has great potential
No hostel vibes, more a hotel with bunkbeds. Little to no facilities or social areas to meet people. Kitchen is way to small and fridges are full, no space to store food.
Stayed in private room, was nice but next door bar was really loud and open till late in the night so headphones needed
The staff were nice and helpful although it did feel strange to check in via a machine. The bathrooms were OK but could have been cleaner. Unfortunately I did not get any sleep whatsoever whilst staying at this hostel. I know that some amount of noise is expected being in the city centre and on a Saturday night but there was music and conversation going from 11pm until gone 5am and the hostel is near a car park which gives announcements every time someone blocks the entrance.
Schönes Hostel! Ich würde dort wieder schlafen. Es fehlen Kühlschränke. Drei Stück mit Gefrierfach ist zu wenig bei so vielen Betten. Die Aufteilung der Zimmer ist wirklich gut. Schade ist, dass man unter der Woche nicht auf die Dachterrasse kann. Ein Luxus ist der Föhn und das Glätteisen, was jeder benutzen kann.
Nice hostel! i would sleep there again. there are no fridges. three pieces with freezer box is too few for so many beds. the room layout is really good. the only shame is that during the week you can't go to the rooftop. a luxury is the föhn and the smoothie, which everyone can use.
NO ROOM IN THE FRIDGE -fruit flies and one became out of order - the workers here are lovely and not their fault. When I complained they were very well trained in customer service however, if you want to cook or even have yogurt in the fridge maybe book elsewhere - staying for one night and eating out will be better for this hostel.
Average hostel, for the price it was poor. Kitchen was small and cramped, only two small fridges for an entire hostel which were packed, and toilets and showers were dirty. Very central location however, with friendly staff and very secure, every door had a key card entry.
Nous avons pris une chambre privée, et nous nous sommes retrouvés dans une chambre sans fenêtre de 10m2. Une literie pas très confortable, oreillers qui sont de vrais ballons gonflables. Cuisine du 1er étage minuscule, pas du tout adaptée pour le nombre de personnes logées. Manque de couverts, de place dans les frigos. Le seul point positif c'est l emplacement et la propreté.
We took a private room, and we ended up in a room without a window of 10m2. a not very comfortable bed, pillows that are real inflatable balloons. kitchen on the 1st floor tiny, not at all adapted to the number of people housed. lack of cutlery, space in the refrigerators. the only positive point is the location and cleanliness.

the property was super clean with loads of facilities inlcuding a laundry room and games room, the bunks were super comfy and has loads of privacy. the only complaint was there is a club right below you that is a little noisy but nothing some headphones cant solve. I also whish there were more hostel activities for backpackers but thats a bonus rather than a requirement from the hostel

Loved this hostel! Fun vibe - especially the rooftop bar with homemade pizzas! Room and en-suite were very clean; linen + towels provided. Would recommend an internal room as opposed to one with a window if it’s a Saturday night as the street noise was very loud - staff were kind and accommodating when we asked to move at 3:30am… Thank you, will happily stay again :)
Zimmer und gemeinschaftsräume sind extrem sauber und gut ausgestattet. Nebenan ist eine Bar, die am Wochenende ziemlich lange laut ist.
The rooms and common areas are extremely clean and well equipped. next door is a bar, which is quite loud on weekends.
Jorja was amazing and so helpful. All the staff were great and I thought the hostel was super nice and welcoming. Would come back in a heartbeat.

Facilities were so clean and excellent! Comfy private beds with good ladders to the top bunks. The kitchen area was a bit small for how many beds there are but everything else was lovely

Every time I return to Auckland, I stay at Jo&Joe, and my most recent visit lasted two weeks. This hostel is truly immaculate. The staff are incredibly kind and welcoming, they go beyond standard hospitality and genuinely make you feel at home. Both the housekeeping team and reception are outstanding. The facilities are excellent and kept very clean. The only minor drawback is that the fridges can feel a bit small when the hostel is busy, but aside from that, everything is absolutely perfect.
This was a GREAT stay! Location is super central and walkable to the major streets and popular tourist spots. The hostel was clean and felt safe, all valuable amenities for solo- and budget-conscious travelers. Each floor, room, and restroom is keycard-access only, which felt reassuring. Each bunk (I was in a dorm) had an outlet, as well as USB and USB-C connections - although the WiFi was quite weak in my dorm. One of the cleanest hostels I’ve ever been in! Great overall, not the most social hostel if you are solo travelling but I think that’s just Auckland in general.
One male Staff at reception was very unfriendly and always on the phone. Couldn´t be bothered to end his call to help me with my checkin. Very unfriendly attitude. He was a the front desk on 29.03 at 5pm. Other guests shared my opinion. Would let him go. Rest of the Staff was great! No trash bins in the rooms.

This is a super hostel!
It’s a great place to stay in Auckland that’s for sure. It was the best hostel on our whole 3 month trip. It was the last hostel in nz which was perfect. Starting here might honestly bring your standards up so high in terms of hostels that other hostels will not be able to live up to. The only negative side was that the kitchen was a bit to small but apart from it it was great and clean. If you are a girl or girlsgroup we recommend to take a girl dorm cause your dorm is on a only women floor...
Super Lage und sehr modern. Die Mitarbeiter sind extrem freundlich. Küche und Gemeinschatfsraum sind ein bisschen klein und in den Zimmern gibt’s keine Mülleimer, der Rest war aber wirklich toll. Große schöne Betten und der Kaffee unten ist auch top.
The staff is extremely friendly. the kitchen and common area are a bit small and there are no garbage cans in the rooms, but the rest was really great. big nice beds and the coffee downstairs is also top notch.
One of the best hostels I’ve ever stayed in.
I had a great stay, convenient location and felt very safe. I notified the property of my late arrival, 11pm, prior to my arrival, when I got there I could not get into the building and there was no staff present to let me in or that answered the phone. I waited outside for 30 mins until someone left the building so I could get in and check in.
Perfect hostel in Auckland. Confortable, cleand with everything you need. I've really enjoyed my stay :)
Kitchen was small and didn’t have enough room in the fridges to even fit a tub of yogurt. They did clean the spaces frequently. Dorm was a great night sleep. Common spaces difficult to socialize or relax in unless if you go up to the bar. Didn’t feel the authentic hostel environment but a great option for location and a place to sleep. I felt very safe as a solo female traveler.
