Go Slow Hostel

+ Avoid this place at all costs. If I could give it -10,000 stars, I would. I found bed bugs bite after sleeping in my bed, and when I reported it, the staff denied it and refused to help. All I asked was for a bed change and assistance with laundry, but instead, they told me to check out. After an hour of being gaslit by the manager, they reluctantly let me stay—but still refused to help with my laundry. The staff is rude, unhelpful, and completely indifferent to guests. They wouldn't even swap my rented towel after the bed bug incident. Cleaners move your belongings daily, making it easy to lose things. Once, I returned to find my shirt soaking wet after they cleaned. The Wi-Fi barely works, and there aren't enough toilets. The only positives are the hot showers and the location, but it's not worth it. There may not be many hostels on the island, but do yourself a favor and avoid Go Slow Guesthouse.

- Everything. Super rude and least helpfull staff ive ever seen. Lost my friends booking and just sent him away, refused to help in any way. When talking to you theyre talking down at you and just laugh in your face. Avoid at all cost

- Don’t book. The hostel staff is so disrespectful.

+ Good location in Belize with nice backpackers.

- The manager is skimming off the top. I extended by a night & he charged me more than the booking.com rate to extend, when i questioned this he refused to reduce the price, saying they "have a policy that stays must be at least two nights" which isn't true. In any case i'd already been there for 3... (i could have extended online on booking.com but felt it would be too awkward after trying to do it in person first). For their laundry service, it is charged per bag. He refused to give me the price for one bag, even though my laundry fit into one bag, then they returned the laundry to me in one bag... Once could be a mistake but twice is a pattern. Honestly, it's a really shame because this is a great hostel with otherwise hardworking staff but his behaviour was really poor.

- there were heaps of bed bugs found in one of the dorms. once informed, the staff changed the mattress and sprayed the area but I would not recommend staying here until the rooms are properly fumigated. they said this was the first time they’ve had a bed bug complaint but this is clearly a lie having regard to other reviews.

- -No curtains -16 people have to share one shower and toilet - no lockers - no shelves and big gabs between the bed and wall, things are falling off from the upper beds - not very clean, rooms are smelly - got kicked out of my room at 9.50 even though checkout is at 10.09

+ Housekeeping do a good job of keeping the place clean

- Our shower did not work in our private room and the owner refused to give us any money back. This meant we had to sleep with dirty sandy sheets on our first two nights until housekeeping changed our sheets. The pressure from the tap at the sink is also really poor so it takes ages to wash any soap off your hands. This shower is the worst shower I’ve ever experienced in my 6 years of travelling. If you’re a digital nomad, DO NOT stay here as you won’t have wifi that works. There was several occasions were we couldn’t even connect to the Wi-Fi never mind a “poor connection”. We had to use local cafes for wifi which is an additional cost to us as the Wi-Fi wouldn’t work. There’s no drinking water available so a lot of plastic wastage and buying water every day becomes costly whereas all the other hostels provide free drinking water. Staff communication is a huge issue. We raised several issues and kept getting different answers from different staff or we would hear nothing back at all. We were told our shower would be fixed and it was not fixed. The owner only cares about making as much money as possible and does not care about his guests. You don’t get anywhere near what you pay for and I wouldn’t recommend this hostel to anyone. The hostel next door is half the price and much better.

+ Sehr netter Einheimischer Rezeptionist, grundsätzlich alles sauber

- Die Klimaanlage war extrem eisig eingestellt, alles sehr basic, sehr schlechtes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis, würde hier nicht mehr übernachten

- Dirty sheets on bed. There was gum smeared on the pillow case, when staff were informed the first time we were told there was nothing they could do about it. They tried to convince us that the sheets were clean and it was just a bit of gunk and to just sleep with it. Only after I had sent a message to the property did staff come back 2.5hrs later with new sheets. The staff were still insisting that the original sheets were clean Facilities were lacking, we ended up using facilities at other properties during our stay

+ Absolut empfehlenswert. Die Lage mitten in der Stadt und direkt bei den Tauchschulen machte es perfekt.

+ Very friendly staff. Comfortable beds and own bathroom for four people..very close to everything.

- The place is a bit run down, very basic and no curtains in the dorms

+ Nothing really. It was very run down.

- 1. The property was run down. It needs some major renovations- but it’s Belize a third world country so I didn’t have high standards. 2. Internet was very slow and I have to buy credit most of my stay. 3. The guy at the registration desk was very misinformed. I had booked online through booking.com and he put me the wrong room, but said it was my fault. After two nights there I was done. He tired to put me in a room with all males. No Mein!!

+ Endroit très sympa , fonctionnel , cuisine bien équipé, lit super ! Tout était super , vous pouvez y allez tranquille .

+ Das Zimmer (pinker Schlafsaal) für vier Personen war geräumig, abends wird die Klimaanlage eingeschalten und die Betten sind auch mit Steckdosenzugang und Ablagemöglichkeiten ausgestattet (auch oben). Die Dusche ist super. Auch der Gemeinschaftsbereich ist in Ordnung (Dusche und Toilette).

- Manchmal war die Kommunikation mit dem Personal schwierig (englisch und/oder spanisch), weil für viele Fragen der "Manager" zuständig ist/war beziehungsweise gesagt wird, man solle am nächsten Tag oder später nochmal fragen. Nichts dramatisches, aber bei wichtigeren Angelegenheiten bezüglich der Zimmer durchaus ein bisschen anstrengend.

+ Gut ausgestattete Küche, schöner Aussenbereich, nettes Personal

- Die Zimmer sind leider etwas muffig und Lüften ist kaum möglich. Achtung die Katze beißt.

+ Big communal area AC in dorms Kitchen was well equipped

- My dorm was not very well looked after and there was multiple tiles missing on the floor. Definitely not enough bathrooms but it looked like they were building more!
