Hostal Chimenea

I liked this hostal until check out where they overcharged me and refused to give back the extra money. I had paid a deposit online but they refused to take that into consideration even when I showed them the ‘amount left to pay’ they kept changing their excuse as to why they didn’t need to take that into account. The hotel is clean, but several aspects were disappointing. It’s far from the center and restaurants. Staff were not professional or welcoming. Bathrooms need maintenance due to bad odors and outdated fixtures. Towels were torn, overused, and limited. Not all rooms match the photos—some lacked a TV, and pool access costs extra.

beautiful place, good location and clean but when I tried to take a shower after hiking in the night the water was cold, also the pool was unavailable throughout the whole morning.

Sehr nah am Wasserfall und den heißen Quellen. Die Dachterrasse ist sehr schön und von dort hat man einen schönen Ausblick Unser Zimmer war sehr groß. Allergings hatte ich bei der Reservierung eine Anzahlung machen müssen die mit dem Endpreis nicht verrechnet wurde, was ziemliziemlich ärgerlich war.

Overall meh feeling. In a town with so many hostels, this one kind of fell short. Not really a backpackers vibe. All of the social areas feel awkward. You can’t hang out anywhere after 10pm. Had to leave to rooftop one night while just quietly talking with others. Can’t use the kitchen during breakfast and there’s giant chains and locks on all the cabinets during the rest of the day which has an off putting feel. Was much happier switching to a Great nearby hostel for actual travelers.

I will 100% stay here again when I return to Baños. The staff were very helpful. Breakfast was prefect. We had an amazing view.

Is well located near the Thermal Bads but I dont understand why we cannot use the Swimmingpool at this fee. Also the rooms near the stairs and at the top floor are EXTREMELY loud since they make Smoothies for breakfast.

Be warned: if you have a shared room, they let anyone into that room at any hour of the day, no matter if they’re sleeping there or not! It’s a shared room for four people, but they’ll let ten random people in at whatever hour of the night…

It's a dream to hear a waterfall from ones bedroom window. Great rooftop terrace, where the waterfall looks almost close enough to touch. It does have more of a hotel feel and there are a lot of rules posted. The owners are quite personable and helpful.

The staff was nice and the food was good/affordable. We got two 3-bed rooms, for 5 of us. The only major complaint that we had was that the water was either very hot or very cold when taking a shower. It was hard to find a perfect setting. This place caters to mostly families from what we saw. We were the only group at the hostel that seemed to be traveling as a group of friends. The spa was a nice a touch and we enjoyed our massages. I would recommend this place.

We had a wonderful stay, the owners were friendly, and the breakfast was delicious. Location is perfect! Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Das Hostel ist sauber und die Mitarbeiter sind sehr freundlich. Morgens gibt es ein Frühstücksangebot. Das ist auch gut und vom Preis ok. Ab mittags steht die Küche zum eigenständigen Gebrauch bereit. Es ist mitten im Zentrum gelegen und ein guter Ausgangspunkt für Touren. Was ich bei dem Hostel vermisst habe, ist die Gemeinschaft. Hier ist jeder für sich und es gibt keine angebotenen Aktivitäten. Das finde ich ein wenig schade. Doch wer seine Ruhe haben will, ist hier genau richtig.

Good hostel for a night or two. Nice rooftop area which serves many options for breakfast. Was not overly impressed with the comfort of bed however the floors and bathrooms were clean and the staff are kind and helpful

Sehr freundliche Mitarbeiter. Sie halfen uns mit Englisch und konnten verschiedene Wandertouren vorschlagen. Die Lage ist sehr günstig. Man ist in 5 Minuten an der Therma de la virgen. Sehr zu empfehlen. Auch verschiedene Restaurants sind in der Nähe.

Quiet and cute little Hostel. Great for a few days if you want to rent a private room to recharge your social battery. Not a super social Hostel for backpackers. Good location to center town/thermal baths and fast laundry services!

Amazing hostel! Private bedroom was clean, spacious and had a cute balcony where you could see the waterfall. The rooftop kitchen/cafe was great, breakfast (especially the double stack pancakes) was worth the money. Good kitchen facilities to cook your own meals. Pool was clean and nice to relax by. Staff were kind and helpful. Great location.

Wonderful place, good location next to the hot spring. The staff are attentive to their guests. Daniella is awesome. The view is is amazing and breakfast is tasty.

lovely facilities, but got no sleep. The ringbell was heard at all times and there was a constant beeping sound and mosquitos.

This was a nice clean stay with a friendly staff for a reasonable cost. My only complaint would be that the hot tub isn’t ready to go. It costs $12 to turn on and takes about 30-45 minutes to warm up. I totally understand that the hot tub is a cost that needs to be passed on to clients, but it should just be in the property description.
