Far from great. Rooms were hot/made you dizzy sometimes. The breakfast was very lackluster. Also the location was far from everything, so you had to take busses that often arrived late. In short, go somewhere else if possible
!! You will share bathrooms with men AND CHILDREN, they aren’t separated by gender. They clean them only once a day so lots of times I found pee or poop in the lavatory, disgusting. Staff is nice, but if you want to meet people this is not the place for you. Also as the bed’s walls don’t touch the ceiling you will hear everything, even from the room next door. The kitchen was awesome and well equipped I must say. Definitely won’t come again.
Expensive I think, no ledge in the bunks and the sides of the beds don’t touch the ceiling so you can hear everyone. Narrow area in the room for bags etc.. bathroom was good and good location too. No real common area just a kitchen
Overall the hostel is good (except for the cold water) but what I didn’t like is the staff, they were too cold and so was the athmosphere in the hostel. Also too many rules like, if the check in is at 3pm they let you wait until 3pm even if the rooms are available. If you check out and your train is in the afternoon you can’t wait in the reception they literally kick you out after 12am ( I was injured in both knees and it’s winter outside but they don’t care). Anyways, not a social pla...
Unfortunately, no longer the best hostel. Bad experience and no atmosphere. Lots of locals, some acting weird, either talking to themselves or making weird noises. Room smelled like a shelter for homeless, it wasn’t pleasant at all. Probably the lady who stayed their during my whole stay and I haven’t seem her leave the place. Not even sure she showered, anyways the room smelled bad.
The hostel does its job as a hostel however there are a few annoying things. They wake you up at 11 aggressively to change your towel - which doesn’t sound too bad but it feels rude. They also kick you out at 12 to do cleaning - which I feel is very un-hostel like. You’d expect at a hostel to stay there if you needed to do any work - there was a guy who had an online call at 12 but they didn’t let him take it at the hostel as they were cleaning the common area. I wasn’t able to pack my...
Very clean and good location within Tokyo.
Perfectly fine place to stay for a day or two. Definitely feels like the sort of place people just come to sleep and then go about their day.
I like this hostel it’s very clean and modern. However I felt that 10am checkout was too early. I missed breakfast because it ended at 9 (again why so early?) but there was free tea and coffee all day. The staff washes the dishes in the kitchen which was very nice. The WiFi was spotty in my room on the third floor but I managed. Towels are included with the bed so that’s a plus. The laundry was very expensive, 400 yen to wash and 200 to dry (I needed two dry cycles so another 200)

Great stay over all and really nice place to stay for your trip, I will add though it doesn’t scream ‘sit down, relax and enjoy your breakfast til 9’ when you’ve got 3 workers rushing about banging pots and pans, sweeping the floor around your legs as you make toast.. it’s 8:30am tell them to relax and crack on at 9, let people enjoy there breakfast in peace! Also don’t slap quite after 11pm stickers everywhere if your not going to enforce the rule…
Très bonne auberge. Tout était propre et conforme aux photos. Plus un hôtel qu’un hostel, je recommanderai pas forcément si votre objectif c’est de rencontrer du monde.
Overall nice new and clean place. It is VERY echo-y. Kitchen/common area reverberatd sound quite loudly as well as the bathrooms. My dorm was across from the showers/toilets and could hear things going on in there. Otherwise breakfast was good, location great, awesome space.
very good
This seemed like more of a hotel than a hostel: the capsule beds were very comfortable and private, the bathrooms were very clean and nice. The common area was good and very open. The free breakfast is just toast and instant coffee which is okay. A bit expensive on the weekends but it was a nice stay.
it got what u need!
Great stay! Entire hostel is kept very clean and staff is helpful and friendly.

Very clean and everything was nice
Good place to stay. Description and photos on Hostelworld give an accurate view of the place
It was great to stay at R.Star Hostel. The staff was nice and helpful, and the common areas are pleasant for both socializing and working. The location is good, as I was able to walk to some of the main areas, such as the Philosopher's Path. The hostel is also conveniently located near the station, which was ideal for me since I took a day trip to Osaka from Kyoto and then headed to Tokyo after only a few days there. The neighborhood is quiet, and there are nice coffee shops and restaurants.
Really clean and nice facilities. It felt more like a hotel. Only negative thing is that the hostel is not that social.
Very clean friendly staff close to Gojo station. Friendly dorm mates. Simple breakfast included free to start your day.
A solid stay with a good location, kind staff, and a bed that was surprisingly bigger than average, which made for a comfortable rest.
I am visiting from the US and this is by far, the best hostel I have stayed at! The rooms and facilities are clean and beautiful! I will definitely stay here again when I return next year!!
Muy recomendable si te quedas en Kioto
Super Unterkunft, auch ruhig
I’ve never seen such a clean hostel in my entire life. The staff was nice and the location really good. The room war pretty small so there was not enough space for the luggage but it was not too bad. Recommend for people who want privacy and silence. The hostel is not social at all so not really for solo travelers :)
Would be nice if the property could do something more to create group activities. Most people here were not friendly including the workers.. The rooms are all super isolated so makes it difficult to meet anyone else. The stay itself was so clean and nice felt like a hotel experience!
