+ View, that's all, but most of the hotels have one.
- Paid the higher price for 2 nights due to the balcony. The balcony attached to the room, however, is also their designated smoking area. Constant smoke which would get inside our room and smell, wife is pregnant and can't be around smoke. The people staying in the next room were also up to 2am smoking, talking loudly and a small dog yapping. We had a tour at 6am, the person working could not care less about any of this. We left after one night and asked for a refund for the second night since we would not be staying there and the hotel agreed to a refund for the second night. It's now going on 2 months and so far the hotel has sent a screenshot showing money sent to the wrong paypal email (even though I sent it correctly) and has stopped replying to messages.
The staff at the hostel are lovely, but the dorm was the most disgusting room I’ve stayed in across the last 4 months. The kitchen has mouldy chopping boards/ wooden spoons, ant nests on the table top. The room smelt awful as there is no where to dry clothes (as it was too humid outside to hang them and they dry- I tried for 2 days). The toilets were black with mould on the inside and smelt like old pee and the dead cockroaches that were there when I arrived were still there when I left.
We moved out earlier then we should and missed our last night since it was next to a disco and made sleep impossible. Only on checking out we were offered ear plugs.

- Das Hotel kann zwar nichts dafür, aber man kann es nicht einmal als Notlösung zum Schlafen buchen. Direkt nebenan wird ein SEHR lauter Club betrieben. Die sehr laute Musik geht bis 3 Uhr nachts. Auch mit Ohrstöpseln kommt man dagegen nicht an. Die Touren starten um 6, so dass man nicht ausgeruht hinkommt. Für den Gast wird eigentlich nur das Nötigste getan, d.h. das Zimmer reinigen und zur Verfügung stellen. Es gibt gerade mal Seife. Aus unserer Sicht definitiv keine Empfehlung. Sehr schade, da die Zimmer eigentlich komfortabel wären und sowohl Ausblick als auch Lage perfekt sind.

- La fête jusqu'à 2h du matin qui raisonne dans la chambre, pas d’eau chaude et un aquarium qui est juste à côté de la chambre qui fait un bruit horrible.
Die Mitarbeiterinnen waren sehr nett und hilfsbereit. Das Dorm hat nicht den Bildern auf Hostelworld entsprochen und war sehr heruntergekommen bzw. nicht gepflegt. Die Küche im Dorm war für 12 Personen viel zu klein und es war nicht wirklich möglich dort zu kochen. Jedoch waren die Touren super und auch das Frühstück dort sehr lecker. Man muss bedenken, dass dort vor dem Dorm zwei Hähne und mehrere Hennen leben die ab 4 Uhr in der Früh Lärm machen. Wir würden nicht nochmal kommen.
The staff was very nice and helpful. the dorm did not match the pictures on Hostelworld and was very run down or not maintained. the kitchen in the dorm was much too small for 12 people and it was not really possible to cook there. however the tours were great and the breakfast there was also very delicious. one must remember that there live two hens and several hens in front of the dorm that make noise from 4 am in the morning. we would not come again.

+ Les chambres sont vieilles mais grandes et confortables avec une très belle vue sur le canal.
- L'établissement est un peu défraîchi. L'eau de la douche était froide. Personnel pas très accueillant. En résumé ça va très bien si on voit cela comme une chambre à disposition mais sans plus. A voir si on est mieux accueilli quand on prend les tours guidés proposés par l'établissement. Voici comment s'est déroulé notre séjour: Avant notre arrivée, on reçoit un message comme quoi beaucoup de guides nous proposeront des tours et que la plupart d'entre eux ne sont pas certifiés. Résultat: On a été approché très gentiment par une seule association de guide à La Pavona... si les guides étaient certifiés ou non j'en sais rien mais on n'a pas du tout été harcelés comme le sous-entendait le message. A notre arrivée à l'établissement, quelqu'un est là à la réception mais n'ouvre pas les portes. Au bout de plus de 10 minutes je fais signe et m'annonce. On m'explique qu'une personne parlant anglais viendra. Une fois arrivé, le tenancier de l'établissement, qui parle anglais, m'explique les tours guidés et les activités qu'il propose. Je lui répond que, de base, j'avais pensé prendre les tours avec eux, mais qu'on nous a entre temps recommandé un guide en français. Je m'excuse pour cela et lui dit que je peux voir pour louer un kayak ou faire une autre activité avec eux. Là je sens que ma réponse n'est pas du tout appréciée. Ensuite il nous montre notre chambre. Un peu plus tard, je reviens vers lui pour poser deux questions: 1) s'il a le Wi-Fi (oui il avait le Wi-Fi donc OK:-)) et 2) où se trouve le débarcadère principal. Il répond à nos questions mais on a l'impression de le déranger. Plus tard pendant notre séjour, on a essayé de trouver un moment où il y avait qqn à la réception pour convenir d'une heure pour le check-out. On arrive finalement à trouver un moment où le monsieur ne parlant pas l'anglais est là.
+ Lo que más me gustó fue la ubicación sin duda, Se encuentra en el centro de Tortuguero, con acceso directo desde el río, lo que facilita tanto la llegada, como la salida del mismo. También resaltar la amabilidad del personal, siempre atentos y dando respuesta a cualquiera de nuestras dudas durante nuestra estancia. Contratamos el tour de las tortugas con ellos y fue maravilloso, sin duda puntuaría la actividad y sobre todo el trato del guía de 10. Celimo, que así se llamaba nuestro guía, fue expectacular tanto en el trato como en las explicaciones. Una persona que se nota que ama su trabajo y que siente pasión por lo que hace.
- El precio de la estancia es demasiado elevado para el tipo de alojamiento y las instalaciones del mismo. Pero es cierto que al no haber demasiadas opciones hoteleras, hace que los establecimientos se aprovechen de ello. Además, hay una discoteca cerca del hotel, y la música por la noche se oye muchísimo. Si vas con niños se puede hacer ruidoso y molesto, cuando sobre todo lo que buscas es tranquilidad

I would recommend this hostel, it was great!
Très bon rapport qualité-prix, à deux pas du parc et de l'embarcadère principal. Tatiana et Nehle nous ont très bien renseignés et aidés pour les excursions et le shuttle pour repartir.
Very good value for money, a stone's throw from the park and the main pier.Tatiana and Nehle informed us very well and helped us with the excursions and the shuttle to depart.

+ Die Lage der Unterkunft und vor allem die grosse Terrasse mit Blick auf die Lagune waren toll. Wir wurden vom Gastgeber sehr herzlich empfangen. Sehr interessant und eindrucksvoll war die morgendliche Tour mit dem Elektroboot in den Tortuguero Nationalpark. Wir haben viele Tiere gesehen vom Faultier über Affen zu Kaimanen und Vögeln und unser Gastgeber hat uns dabei viele interessante Informationen über die reiche Flora and Fauna der Gegend geben können. Wirklich sehr empfehlenswert!

+ Proprietario gentilissimo e premuroso per ogni necessità ,parlava anche lingua italiana, il posto in un’ottima posizione sia per andare verso il Parco nazionale, sia per vicinanza supermercato, locali e ristoranti, e in una bella posizione direttamente sul canale
- Forse la doccia, posizionata sopra una vasca idromassaggio e senza una base comoda per stare in piedi, ma comunque tutto nella norma. Consiglierei il posto.

+ Great welcome from the moment we arrived at La Pavona to get the boat to Tortuguero. Andrés is an excellent host. We had an amazing view and balcony over the lagoon. The room is just like the picture. He helped sort out the tours we chose to do, and we could also borrow rubber boots and waterproof ponchos. Easy access to restaurants and supermarket and also next to national park and the beach.

+ L’emplacement est super, nous pouvons tout faire à pied Les hôtes proposent des sorties : nous avons fait celle en canoë qui est super, avec de très bonnes explications, nous avons pu voir pleins d’animaux La vue est magnifique

+ Perfecto para lo que se necesita en tortuguero, aire acondicionado, TV con cable, ducha grande, espacio para dejar maletas, bolsos, refrigerador pequeño….. incluso puedes ocupar la cocina compartida si así lo deseas. La amabilidad de Andrés y Héctor fu perfecta, siempre coordiales y enseñando todo lo que hay que hacer y cómo pasarlo mejor. Se preocuparon incluso que la lancha de regreso nos pasara a buscar a tiempo La ubicación perfecta, con muelle propio y una terraza increíble con vista a la entrada de los canales Totalmente recomendable

De mevrouw van het hostel was ontzettend aardig en behulpzaam. Het hostel heeft wat beperkte faciliteiten en is minder sociaal, maar het was wel een netjes verblijf!
The hostel has some limited facilities and is less social, but it was a nice stay!
+ Fantastic location on the river front. Very helpful, friendly staff and the guide was very knowledgeable and keen to share his knowledge. The accommodation was simple, but met all our needs. We would recommend a stay here.
- Bed side lamps for reading.
+ Ubicacion perfecta. Las vistas al río geniales. Los tours que organizan, con Héctor, muy bien, sobre todo el de canales.
- Deberían renovar las cañerías del baño, huelen un poco a cañerías....
