Dayin Garden Hostel - Oriental Pearl & Lujiazui

Possibly the worst hostel i’ve ever stayed in , if you can even call it a hostel. Dirty, messy rooms with people living there - i’m talking hair, kaka, water all over the bathroom, smoking inside the rooms, constant noise. Certainly not an international hostel as it’s marketed. Do yourself a favour and stay well away! Only good things were the beds were okay and thankfully have a curtain and the staff tried their best.

Surprisingly nasty and depressing place. The room was filled with bags and stinky. Not a place to meet new friends or find any activity.

DO NOT STAY. This is genuinely the worst hostel I have ever stayed in. It was so so dirty - when I arrived the floor on my room was soaking wet, despite the fact it was the middle of the night the women who appeared to actually be living there were up having full blown conversations but the biggest problem was the dirt. There were empty food and drink containers EVERYWHERE. I didn’t shower because of the dirt. Finally the location is impossible to find - DiDi dropped me off half an hour + ofte...

Honestly the worst experience in my whole life the place is located next to a big garbage deposit lot of rats, people don’t speak English 0 friendly, beds dirties. They don’t even clean the bed once ppl leave. Honestly worst ever. Smell so bad. Google maps and hostel world has the wrong location. It was a big challenge to find the plave

What can I say to start of with people live there so they have their cloth hanging all over the dorm and they eat there it’s disgusting I couldn’t even sleep or take a shower I do not recommend this place at all! The only cool thing is that the staff is chill.

There were cockroaches in the bathroom and in the doorway. a rather unpleasant smell of mold and relative cleanliness.

The AC was leaking water, the bathrooms and rooms were dirty. A lot of humidity and staff cannot speak English. Found cockroaches in the room

It’s a nice play BUT only Chinese people, no social interaction at all, hostel staff barely speaks English. The hostel does not organize anything at all to bring people together. Room and the rest is clean. But as a solo traveler you will have difficulties meeting other people to do stuff with

Check In hat sehr lange gedauert und dann wurde ich in ein 6er Zimmer gebracht (hatte 4er gebucht) das extrem dreckig und zugemüllt war und wo es sehr nach Rauch gerochen hat. Ich bin einiges gewohnt von Hostels, aber dort wollte ich nicht bleiben. Hatte mich schon nach alternativen Unterkünften in der Nähe umgesehen, da wurde mir ein anderes Zimmer angeboten. Gleiche, durchschnittliche Ausstattung, 6er Zimmer, aber relativ sauber. Bin dort dann die bezahlten zwei Nächte geblieben und es war...

This hostel was not very international as advertised. Staff were not super helpful or had great English. Make sure you use Apple Maps to find this location as google doesn’t work in China. No social events or activities arranged

I arrived at 3am by a night bus from the airport, the location of the hostel is perfect. Check in was smooth thanks to the receptionist Mai. I forgot my toothbrush and he provided me a new one. The bed is soft and the toilet and bathroom were in my room, which was nice. The check out process hold by Liu and Luo was also friendly. I recommend!

Comfy private rooms, friendly staffs

This was a fantastic spot to kick of Shanghai. They allowed late check-in and were super accommodating. Very grateful the hospitality of the staff!

Very clean and nice hostel, super quiet and shops nearby 👍🏼

Hostel is well situated between metro stations. Beds are very comfortable, and private, even in shared rooms. En-suite bathrooms are clean and well kept daily. Amenity kit provided with additional bedding, towels, toothbrush and more. Common area has the basics + workstations and 24hr shop. Outdoor areas are minimal but adequate seating and smoking areas.

We stayed for three nights at this hostel (8 beds fem. dorm). The dorm was quiet the entire time and we had the bathroom in the room. In case you need a bathroom but the one in the room isn't free, there is also another one, shared with the others, in the corridor. The beds are super conformable and clean, there are curtains, light and electrical outlets. Laundry is free. A part from a little walk through the recycle center to get there, the place is lovely. Highly recommend!

Es gibt 2 Hostels in Shanghai mit dem gleichen Namen. Das hier ist auf der anderen Seite des Flusses und etwa 5km “außerhalb vom Zentrum”. Hab daher leider das falsche gebucht gehabt. Staff konnte kaum Englisch und war sehr unfreundlich. Aufgrund der Lage und der wenigen Touristen war Socializing nicht möglich. Würde nicht nochmal hier hin gehen. Hat sich für das Geld nicht gelohnt!

Etwas versteckt, dann ein WoW 👍 dachte schon wäre auf Santorini in Griechenland gelandet 😅 nettes Personal, tolle Bar mit internationalen Bieren 🍻 komme aus Deutschland, liebe das Tsingtau, deutsch-chinesisches Bier aus Quingdau, das gabs leider nicht und die blaue Ägäis auch nicht, mann kann nicht alles haben 🤣✌️😎

Staff helpful, property was clean and well-organised. Room was a bit warm, not very sociable, but perfect for a quick stay and somewhere to rest your head in Shanghai

Hostel is very nice. The beds gives good privacy. 10min walk from the Metro station. Aldi supermarket just 3min walk around the corner.

An Amazing hostel to spend time in a typical chinese atmosphere. Kind staff and perfect position near the metro and in a neighborhood full of restaurants. Highly recommended. I Will definitely return during my stays in Shanghai :)

Goed en aardig personeel, faciliteiten zijn top. Wat je verwacht van een degelijk hostel.
