Yellow Banana Siargao

Had booked 2 nights stay in private room with ensuite. Arrived and the room was mouldy- mould all over the walls and even on the pillows. also a sign in the ensuite saying the water had been treated and was dangerous to use. room felt really damp and unclean and nothing like the photos. air con machine was old and didnt work and had a big gap next to it to the outside so room was filled with mosquitos and bugs. ended up not staying, and they still tried to charge us more than half. would not rec

Lovely staff who ran a super fun family dinner with games - made it easy to make friends and get involved. Bad cleanliness, no soap or loo roll in bathrooms. It was very rainy while we were there which obviously isn’t their fault but they were aware our room was about to flood which indicates it happens a lot. And it did. to try and prevent the flooding they added sealant to the floor but didn’t move my friends stuff resulting in her bag and some clothes covered in sealant which has ruined ...

There are severe problems with the plumbing - the water smelt extremely of sewage and the chemicals they have added to the water in attempt to mask this made our skin and eyes burn and itch. We felt constantly unclean. They have dogs on the property leave poo everywhere including on the room door steps that would never get picked up. Staff were rude and dismissive and only spoke to the long stayers.

The hostel is infested with rats, that climb across the roof all night & we came home to find two of them climbing over the drying rack outside our room. Additionally, the shower is unusable, the water itself stinks of poo & gave my eye and skin irritation. And the shower/toilet wet room is incredibly dirty with never any loo roll. This is the worst hostel I’ve ever stayed in. The beds have bed bugs and the room was infested with termites, so every thing was covered with saw dust. I told the staff and they said, it’s okay we will get the vacuum. They vacuumed up a few of the hundreds of bugs and expected the problem to go away. All of my belongings are now infested with bed bugs. The sink and toilet were clogged my entire stay and the shower had a window with no curtain so you can see right in to it. Do not stay here.

Good if you are traveling on a tight Budget cause Siragao isn’t cheap at all. But if you can spend more I would defiantly recommend spending some extra dollars. The showers and toilets are not clean with no hot water. The dorms itself feels really dark and with no air

The good thing: they gave two pillows, which feels like a luxury. The bad thing: the toilet flush was not working, the shower water had some sort of chemical in it because of which my eyes, nose and throat started burning very bad and eyes and nose started watering as well. wonderful hostel which felt like family; everyone was super nice - only downside: sometimes water would be out but i think that is an island thing and not a hostel thing. would def recommend staying there

Absolutely loved my stay at Yellow Banana, the whole team that works there makes it feel like home. They made the most amazing family dinners on wednesdays and sundays with game night to get to know people. The dorm beds were super comfy and there’s a kitchen and a bar at the hostel. Yellow Banana est clairement l’hostel que vous devez choisir pour votre séjour à Siargao. Très bien situé dans le centre de General Luna, propre, calme la nuit, lits confortables. De nombreuses activités sont organisées toutes les semaines. JC et son équipe sont aux petits soins pour que votre séjour se passe au mieux. Le seul problème est qu’une fois que vous y êtes, vous ne voudrez jamais partir.

The best hostel i have stayed in, over 3 months they realy create a family. I will definitely come back to the Yellow Banana Family when I am on Siargao again.🫶

My favourite place so far. Jhaycee and all of the staff are incredible and truly make you feel at home as a part of their family, cooking for us and including us in activities.

Not very clean, only one toilet per room and the shower is in there as well. Nice family dinner.

Only booked for 3 nights but ended up staying for 9, hands down the best hostel I have stayed in SEA made some friends for life and infinite memories. Staff were very friendly and welcoming, a very social hostel. ✋🤚

I had such a great time staying here! I honestly had so much fun and even met some amazing new friends during my stay. The vibe is really friendly and welcoming, which made everything even better. The staff are all super nice and helpful, especially Jhaycee, who really stood out and made the experience more memorable. Also, I loved that they offer free food every Wednesday and Sunday, such a nice touch! Would definitely recommend this place and would love to come back again 💖

We tried multiple hostels on Siargao and ended up coming back to yellow banana for the whole rest of the trip. Completely other experience than other hostels! You really feel like part of a big family:) We had the best experience with fellow travelers and the hostel staff! Amazing events, you can always reach out for help or simply a chat and really welcoming vibe overall🫶 We left a couple days ago and already want to come back🥲

Amazing hostel, felt really safe and comfortable there. Everyone is really nice and you have the feeling to be part of a big family. Twice at week there is a family dinner with delicious food. Furthermore there are also other social events. Perfect for solo trawler and for people who want to socialise. Thank you Yellow Banana for this amazing time 🫶🏽

What a hostel. 2 years I'm travelling in the world, never been in a hostel that welcoming. The staff members are Filipinos, they considered me and all the guests as part of a big family. The beds are sooo comfy, two pillows, free soap and really quiet. Every Wednesday and Sunday, the staff is cooking for everyone for free, and we have perfect family time. I had an amazing time in Yellow Banana, made lots of new friends with both staff and guests. Highly recommend this hostel as a social place, but not necessarily party-focused.

Lovely staff members, cute dogs and the family dinner was amazing (can’t believe they didn’t charge extra for this). Unfortunately, the bathroom was 90% of the time filthy. There was a bathmat in there which was not cleaned for my entire 6 night stay. It was soaked with mud and sea salt. Toilet roll also not replaced enough. The staff are incredibly kind, friendly and helpful, and host a fantastic social calendar to help people get to know one another - the family dinner nights twice per week in particular are great. The facilities are poor/limited, unfortunately, and so to is the cleanliness. Our room flooded during a storm, creating a damp and mould issue. The showers (cold) barely function and I have never seen so many mosquitos. Amazing atmosphere but lacking facilities and cleanliness, in summary.

My first time traveling solo, and I don’t regret choosing Yellow Banana as my first hostel in Siargao. What makes this place special is how they treat you not just as a guest, but as family. I’m really grateful to have found what feels like my second home. I also loved their family dinners (twice a week!), which made the experience even more special. As an introvert, I appreciated how their activities helped me open up and connect with other people. Highly recommended!
