Blue House Backpackers

I was very dissapointed in this hostel. To start, they charged an additional tax fee, which is the first time i have encountered something like this in Hostelworld. THE TAX WAS 25% OF THE TOTAL BILL! I basically paid for another night. The showers only had cold water and very low pressure stream, very few electricity ports in the room, lockers were tiny, and the wifi was horrible, was not able to do the work i needed to do there. The ony good thing was the ocean view.

Due to the consistent loss of power on the island, we found that on 2 nights we had no air con, dark showers due to no backup generator. Due to the lack of power the room also smelt heavily of damp. This was unbearable and we ended up checking out early. However, The staff were friendly and the view is lovely - they put free pastries out in the morning and made effort with a free drink.

Probably one of the worst hostels I’ve stayed in for a while. The beds were so squeeze and the thinnest pillow ever, the sockets for the top bunk were on the ceiling so literally fell on your head all the time, they had no hot water for tea or coffee so had to put water in a pan and boil the water, they have activities on the board but they aren’t doing them because there no volunteers and have to sort it on a group chat with the other people in the hostel, the doors were never locked. No wa...

In our opinion the worst hostel we’ve ever stayed at in our 6 months of travelling. Air con only turns on at 9pm so it gets very hot. The bathrooms are dirty and has cockroaches and dead flies. 2/3 are also outside. Bathroom bins never emptied and they smell. Water not refilled often enough and nobody around after 9pm to voice this too. Beds feel like they’re about to break. Beach area is run down and dirty. Rely on volunteers for events - no volunteers means nothing going on.

I stayed 2 nights and one of them without light and AC impossible to sleep. It's well located at 5 minutes from San Juan center. Bathrooms and common zones could be more cleaned and the fact it has only 3 bathrooms (2 outside) and no hot water for the entire hostel is a pitty

Staff were friendly, the hostel was clean and in a great location. However, the 4-bed mixed dorm was extremely small and wouldn’t be pleasant with strangers (we knew each other). the room didn’t lock and the lockers were tiny (bag wouldn’t fit in. reception wasn’t staffed from 9pm and door always open so we had safety concerns. Bring your own towel as we couldn’t get one. The garden was stunning. but outside bathrooms had plumbing issues and unpleasant smells.

- Toilets, too few compared to number of people. + Backyard was a cosy aoasis with hamocks and rocking chairs. We stayed there for 7 nights. Would come again.

An sich ein schönes Hostel direkt am Strand. Leider hat es viel zu wenige Badezimmer. 3 Toiletten mit Dusche sind zu wenig. Eines davon wird am Morgen um 9 gereinigt. Die Toiletten aussen spülen nicht richtig, so dass der Kot ständig in der Toilette bleibt. In den Zimmern stinkt es aufgrund der Feuchtigkeit. Die Betten sind bequem, aber extrem laut, wenn die obere Person hoch oder runter geht.

Overall great location, and most of the staff were friendly and polite. They were quick to act when I reported the dirty state of the bathroom and kitchen and apologised for it but the bathroom and kitchen continued to be dirty following the initial clean for the remainder of my time.

the hostel was pretty nice and the staff were friendly however during my stay we had no electricity majority of the time. the island has regular power cuts and most hostels / restaurants have generators but this one does not! they also leave all of the windows and doors open all day so lots of bugs inside. so unfortunately with no air con or wifi during the power cuts it did ruin my stay a fair bit :/

I looooved this hostel!! Not the cleanest but it's so vibey and the beach as your backyard is unbeatable! The staff was lovely too! I would stay here for weeks! The kitchen is also nice and there's a place right outside the hostel where you can buy fresh fruit!

Das Hostel hat eine gute Lage. Es war sauber aber die Zimmer rochen nach alten Laken. Wir hatte ein vierer Zimmer es war sehr eng man hatte kaum Platz. Es konnte jeder einfach ins Hostel rein spazieren. Das Personal war freundlich.

Ich hatte super tolle Tage im Hostel! Ein großer Vorteil ist der große Aufenthaltsbereich, wo man gut Leute kennenlernen und Zeit verbringen kann. Das Hostel liegt sehr zentral und hat einen schönen Außenbereich direkt am Wasser. Das Personal ist sehr nett und es ist sauber. Es gibt allerdings nur kaltes Wasser und die Bambusbetten quietschen bei jeder Bewegung - für mich kein großer Mangel, aber vielleicht gut im Vorfeld zu wissen:)

Amazing hostel with a beach back garden! Such a fun social atmosphere with large kitchen and living space to socialise and activities planned by the hostel. Plus some free pastries provided in the morning! Only downside was having 3 toilets/showers for the whole hostel but the rest makes up for it!

Loved this place- homely & brilliantly situated. Friendly staff and an amazing sunset ‘beach’. Nice kitchen, clean dorms and reliable Wi-Fi. I stayed for 6 weeks! There’s a reef u can snorkel on 100m from the back door. Will definitely return if I’m in Siquijor again

This hostel has an amazing location, you can see beautiful sunset every evenings, you have a lot of good restaurants around if you want to eat out and the beach is close by too. The staff is so nice and the atmosphere is great. If feels like home

Auberge vraiment vraiment top. Bien placé, acceuil top, propre , toujours un petit geste ( matin viennoiserie , ou soir apéro , ...) offert. Bref je recommande a 100%

This hostel has a peaceful beachfront that instantly puts you at ease. It’s a calm and relaxing place to stay, perfect for recharging and lifting your mood. Plus, the location is great it’s easy to get anywhere from here, which made exploring the island super convenient

Overall, it's a nice hostel! Though it's not very social, the bathroom is tiny, and the bed is squeaky. But! The staff is outstanding, and the location is really good

Super hostel, bord de plage, personnel au top, on s’y sent comme à la maison !!!! Viennoiseries le matin, bref tout est parfait je recommande vivement !!!!

Great value for a solo traveler and remote worker like me. It's my 3rd time here and the place is even better now with the solar and Starlink that provided me with fast and reliable connection. The place is always kept clean and the staff is amazing!

I really enjoyed my stay and met great people :) good location and accommodating staff. Special thanks to ate Ruth, she was fun and helpful! Bed space was enough with its own mini fan and bed lamp. It was just squeaky because it’s bamboo but doesn’t bother me much. There were also enough restrooms for everyone esp the one inside is huge and clean. Kitchen equipment are also enough just wish that there was an oven and big trash can inside the house especially in the kitchen.

It was a really nice Hostel, directly overlooking the water. It was clean and all in all very good. The only thing is that they put the AC on really cold and you can’t control it from the room and the beda are a bit unstable if you sleep in the top bunk. Just get ready for a freezing night
