Masaya Santa Marta

I woke at 430 due to bed bugs. My body was bitten all over. I kindly told staff and they did not offer anything-no alternative place to stay at 430, did not offer to clean clothes, did not apologise. Nor did the morning staff. I had to tell them I needed the clothes clean so I would not contaminate other places. No hygiene protocol and it seems this is a common problem here as no one acknowledged it or seemed bothered. I was confused by their lack of hygiene and care for future contamination.

Absolute joke of a place , a bloke s*** on the floor in my dorm and had to smell it for hours he didn’t clean it up and I wasn’t refunded for the first night .. I booked a dorm with so called aircon for another night and it was pathetic the aircons are fucked in the rooms and need to be regased ! Was like sleeping in a hot box .. staff member was rude and was happy for me to sleep downstairs in the computer room which is the only kool room on the property ! I’ll never stay again or recom...

If you have the opportunity to go to Masaya hostel in Santa Marta, make yourself a favor and miss it. The pools and facilities may seem nice but they need to keep an eye on everything else too. No hot water or where to put your towels in the dorms, no wifi in the room, showers were flooding, minimal things in the kitchen, not even the necessary, at night there is no way to sleep well with the AC at -20 degrees. And if this is not enough the staff at the front can’t be less nice, Literally the ...

Great rooftop, but the building is dilapidated. I stayed in a dorm there was heavy rain and there were leaks all over the place and my stuff got wet, no atmosphere as no decent indoor areas. Bathroom in dorm was smelly probably from the water leaking through the ceilings. The staff member with pink hair advised 'it was raining', no apology. It must be normal to have leaky roofs in santa marta. Take your money elsewhere. If you are visiting tayrona just stay at the park skip santa marta.

Stayed in a 4 bed mixed dorm. Bathroom wasn’t the cleanest and smelt, actual room was quite dark. Rooftop area was nice & had a good vibe.

Estuve 5 noches en habitación privada,los lugares comunes son muy chicos, las dos piscinas son chicas y siempre llena de gente no se puede estar , en todos lados fumando, música fuerte todo el día, de día y de noche no se puede descansar, me cobraron un cargo por sábanas que no me avisaron y no reponían nunca la toalla de manos.

El hostal es suficiente pero se espera más de la cadena Masaya. Contras: -No hay agua caliente, NUNCA -Encienden el aire acondicionado muy tarde y el calor es insoportable. -La ubicación es muy ruidosa -La ubicación se siente algo insegura -Alberca fría -Pintan sus barandales y no avisan que están frescos, por ende ropa y manos manchadas.

It was ok. Some staff was super helpful. Others not.

The staff are excellent and the hostel is in a central location. The streets around the hostel are very dirty. The hostel has a bar and the drinks are very expensive. 11k for a beer and 8k for water, there's no free filtered water. There is one bathroom in the dorms and one external shower which isn't sufficient in the morning.

Decent place to stay

I was there for just 1 night before heading to Tyrona, but had everything I needed. Located in the center near everything. But the showers are cold- just a heads up

Stunning hostel and in a great location. Roof top is amazing with fantastic views! Only downside was the atmosphere wasn’t that social and the bar is expensive.

A really nice and clean hostel! The beds are very comfy, AC is very good, rooftop area is great. Would highly recommend this hostel

Gute Lage und echt ein angenehmer vibe im Hostel. Dachterasse war Mega, aber was ich nicht verstanden habe war , dass es extra Frühstück gab was inkludiert war und man nicht das von der Karte wählen konnte, dafür hätte ma extra zahlen müssen! Ich bin gerade in Medellin in einem Masaya Hostel und hier bekommt man einfach das Frühstück von der Karte. Diese Differenzen haben uns verwirrt. Stayed in both a 6 person dorm and a private room. Dorm was okay, ensuite was a bit dirty. The private room was awesome! Massive bed, good shower, powerful aircon and big tv. Loved the rooftop bar and pool area. Great location in Santa Marta. Staff helped organise a taxi from airport.
