Lake Lodge Iseltwald

TLDR: they had bed bugs but customer service was great. Our stay started out fine but ended awfully. We checked in though it smelled really weird at the lobby. The “kitchen” is NOT a kitchen as there’s no stove, so don’t expect to do much cooking while you’re here. Also someone must have boiled their vegetables in the kettle as the hot water tastes like boiled vegetables.. one of the shower stalls on the second floor also had black mold growing.. Started going to bed and an hour after my head hit the pillow, I felt a bug bite, and then 2 and then more. I woke up turned on the lights and found 2 bed bugs! My family members were also bitten and then we found 2 more. I am allergic to bed bugs so my bites swelled and turned painful. It was 1am at night and the receptionist is only open from 8-11am and 4-8. So we couldn’t do anything about it except keep sleeping with bed bugs. It was a terrible sleep with more bites. The next morning at 8, I quickly went to talk to the receptionist and to my surprise she/they were very apologetic and responsive. A full refund was issued since there are no other rooms available, and they provided us free breakfast. On top of that, she gave me some medicated ointment to apply topically and gave me suggestions on where to look to book our next Airbnb/ hotel. And provided some cash to do laundry at a nearby facility. Customer service was excellent and for that I give this place the one star it deserves. The only other pro for this place is that the views are stunning !!

El hostal está a unos pasos de la parada de bus , es bonito , pero en nuestro cuarto había chinches!! Pulgas!! No pudimos dormir en la cama por asco a que nos pasara algo , había mucha gente y el piso rechinaba cada que alguien pasaba , no se podía dormir muy cómoda

Be warned - bedbugs! We stayed for 2 nights; found live bedbugs in several of the beds on both evenings.... that aside the lodge is in an idilic location next to the lake. Somewhat basic when compared to other accommodation in the area however its more than sufficient, we did notice that with only 2 plugs within the room charging phones etc was difficult. The key is stored in an unlocked cabinet which means theres little security for your belongings - again not great. Its location has to be its main appeal... sort the bedbug issue and upgrade the facilities and they could be on to a winner.

It was not our first time staying in a hostel but definitely the worst. We paid CHF 100 for a double room which sounds like a great deal until you spend the night. Our sheet had holes in it and the walls are paper thin. Rumors of bed bugs from other guests had us tossing and turning all night. After looking at the reviews on booking it seems that this place does have a history of bed bugs. I highly recommend bringing ear plugs if you want to get any sleep here. It wasn't that other guests were inconsiderate it's simply the fact that the place has 0 soundproofing in the doors or walls. Our floor had at least 20 people staying in 8 rooms and only had one toilet and one shower. Not a locker room area with multiple showers, one shower head for 20+ people, I opted to jump in the lake. If you are looking for value for money keep searching, the only reason this review even warrants even 1 star is due to the beautiful location.
