Cons: No aircon or even a fan in 35 degrees? I’ve been in saunas with better air flow, let alone tried to sleep in one. Also, very convinced the room had bed bugs.. so yeah, not ideal Pro’s: Good location & cheap beer in hostel bar. Staff were friendly too.

We went to go to the charles de gaulle house. Took 40mins. Never got served for coffee. Really lazy staff. We warmed up in the window. Never bought anything and left. We read the reviewa of the bed bugs and rats why we waited. All very believable Worlds worst service. So poor they forgot to even serve us while we sat there and warmed ourselves for 40mins We see people stood at the bar for 40 or so mins the entire time we were chilling Thanks for the free seat and heating.

Punaises de lit dans la chambre 103. Le devant de l'hôtel est un bar avec très peu d'ambiance. Cuisine minimale, mais joli terrasse à l'étage 1

Very nice staff and a decent breakfast. Nowhere to store luggage in the rooms except a tiny safe-like compartment above the bed, which didn't actually lock. There was some kind of tiny biting insect in the bed (too small to be bed bugs) which was a mild annoyance.

L’auberge est infestée de punaises de lit. Nous nous sommes réveillés entourés de punaises et des piqûres sur tout le corps.

Tous et le non professionnalisme de la réceptionniste et le responsable qui dit pas la vérité aux clients, et il fait aucun effort pour éliminer les punaises des lits,

Mon deuxième séjour s’est très mal passé. Réveillée avec pleins de boutons dû à des punaises de lit. Sous mon draps ce n’était pas propre ou devrais-je dire sale. Je suis déçue de la propreté de la chambre il faut y remédier !

UNSANITARY. BED BUGS!!! Ans they admit it and don’t fully refund you. We had two separate books and was bitten the second day ALL OVER HIS BODY. And the establishment adjusts they have this A RECURRING PROBLEM. See there message below to me and they say they will refund both reservation but THE DID NOT AND REFUSE TO. Frankly THEY SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN. And they are asking FORTUNE DURING THE RUGBY WORLD CUP. Disgraceful !! I plan to call the health authorities and send them photos which I won’t post here out of respect for the privacy of my son!! I am genius level member and this is A BLOW TO BOOKING REPUTATION. !!!!! ————— Hello, Yes we have refunded both reservations and send a message to Booking.com so that they proceed to the refund. Unfortunately we are also victim of the bed bugs as a hostel and we do treat the problem. I assure you that all hostel have the problem but it is just coming, leaving and coming back ! Our company which who we have a contract has come already to treat the rooms. Havea good day.

It is a HEALTH HAZARD. It is INFESTED WITH BED BUGs. We changed rooms and got BITTEN all over and had to leave. The management doesn’t even acknowledge or refund the problem or money. This issue is not limited to this one room. These bugs are in the establishment and should be shut down by the health authorities.

Les dortoirs mixtes La saleté et l inconfort des toilettes et douches mixtes petites et sales...les robinets non mitigeurs eclaboussaient partout avec de l eau chaude en prime..dans les dortoirs mixtes ménage à désirer mauvaise odeur. Un seul lavabo pour 8 sans papier essuie tout ni séchoirs...aucun respect question bruit après 22h...les douches et toilettes étant sales obligée de s habiller dans le dortoir mixte donc aucune intimité...pas dé crochets pour sécher sa serviette et en prime je suis revenue chez moi bouffée par des punaises de lit pleins de boutons sur mes bras qui me grattent encore après une semaine...tout cela pour un prix prohibitif de 44 euros la nuit en dortoir mixte... Le prix du café seul ou capuccino seul à 3. 50€ le matin était prohibitif par rapport à d autres cafés en ville ...

Pros Although not really in the centre, the accommodation + pub combination is very popular. Stylish, friendly, affordable. Private rooms are cosy. Nice bar, other restaurants, park and running pathes nearby. Old Lille, around! Cons But as for the dorms: some are okay , others aren't .. -bedsheets blankets are... well, bit even dusty - and boxes have bedbugs ... -backpack - pricewise: a cheaper stay can be found in Lille with all You can eat breakfast, modern facilities and with bite free (!) beds.

The staff are great, very helpful and accommodative. Unfortunately that is one of the only positives… There were no lockers in my room of 8. I requested to switch rooms because I found a bed bug in my original assigned bunk. Staff was very helpful in getting me a new bed/room but didn’t tell anyone else in that room there maybe bed bugs. Otherwise facilities were nice, but because of the bed bug thing I would not stay again. Only reason this review isn’t one star is because the staff were great.

There were bed bugs in the dorm bunk I was posted. The staff was very nice and moved me to a new room once I explained the situation (however they didn’t move the others in my room…). Found another bug on the floor of the new room the next morning, so there might be a larger problem about. Facilities seemed inadequate if the dorms had been full with only two washroom stalls. Finally, the hostel dorm rooms did not have lockers as they “broke”. The staff was nice and would store luggage in the luggage room, however this is a really inconvenient solution. Otherwise hostel vibe looked good if you spoke French.

Als ik puur kijk naar de prijs-kwaliteitverhouding, dan heb ik weinig te klagen over dit hostel. We betaalden 250 euro voor een privékamer voor 4 nachten. Echt prima prijs. Dat gezegd hebbende: dit hostel heeft veel manieren om nog net wat beter te worden. Dat begint met het ontvangst. De jongen achter de balie zat daar ongeïnteresseerd en levensmoe, amper bereid om ons normaal te begroeten. Die chagrijnige houding zette hij voort toen we later wat gingen drinken in de bar. Niet echt verwelkomend. De kamer was nogal troosteloos. Gaten in muur, gore gordijnen die niet goed sloten, een kledingrek waarvan 5 van de 6 hangers kapot waren, een random dromenvanger en twee veren op de muur als aankleding. De verf in de badkamer bladderde overal af, wat een gore indruk gaf. Op de zijkant van mijn lakens zat een dubieuze vlek. De kamer was niet vies, maar zeker ook niet schoon. Er lagen nog haren in de badkamer en ook de matrasbeschermer zat vol haren, zag ik toen ik even een bedbug-check deed. De linoleumvloer zag er niet uit alsof ie onlangs gedweild was. De douche was fijn, al zijn de plafonds heel laag en pas je als je langer bent dan 1.80 niet onder de regendouche. De douchecabine is heel klein. En een waterballet op de badkamervloer was moeilijk te voorkomen (en ook moeilijk weer op te lossen). De knoppen op de verwarming klopten niet, waardoor het de eerste nacht loeiheet was op de kamer (als we ze helemaal naar rechts / dicht draaiden, dan stonden ze op standje 4). We kregen een vrij kleine handdoek de man, wat voor 5 dagen wel weinig is. Mensen met langer haar willen gewoon twee handdoekjes, een kleintje extra is al zo fijn. Het is een gehorig hostel. Als er iemand in de gang loopt te praten, dan hoor je dat alsof ze naast je bed staan. Werd er ‘s nachts een paar keer wakker van. Ik hoorde ook de bovenburen rondlopen en doortrekken ‘s nachts. En het feestje in de bar op donderdagavond was niet goed voor de nachtrust. Maar met een goed stel oordoppen kom je een heel eind. Al met al hadden we toch iets anders verwacht op basis van de foto’s op de website en Booking. Wel fijn: de vensterbanken waren prima opslag voor onze tassen. Het ruime kastje in de badkamer was ook heel handig. Check-in en -out waren heel snel en makkelijk. De locatie is top. Parkeren kan vlakbij, bij het Citadel. De bakker aan de overkant is geweldig. En met 10 minuten lopen sta je middenin het centrum.

I stayed in this hostel for one night and woke up with upwards of 8 bed bug bites…the washrooms smell awful and are nowhere near clean
