I’ve stayed in hostels in multiple cities in the US and abroad. This hostel was my least favorite. The receptionist started telling me about his drug habits as he checked me in and then walked me through an alley to a separate building I’d be staying in. It was covered in carpet that I am convinced has not been cleaned since the 70s. I booked two nights but couldn’t bring myself to stay there a second night. It was filthy. I wouldn’t be surprised if I brought bed bugs home. Nothing was up to code and accessibility considerations were non-existent.

I had stayed at the hostel in October 2021 and had a wonderful experience. That experience prompted me to book again, recently. However, this time around, we were not informed of our bunk having a bed bug infestation. The person I shared the bunk with is allergic to bed bugs. Staff minimized the infestation and instead told us we had "one of the better bunks." I love the vibe of the hostel, however, due to the minimization of bed bugs, I will no longer be recommending this place to friends. I also do not plan on staying at the hostel for future travel.

¡BED BUGS!, this place is infested of them. We had to run away almost in the middle of the night when the bugs were crawling our bodies. Really bad experience, nothing else to add!

Completely Infested with Bed Bugs. Great location and place, however, the bed bug infestation is not acceptable. Another guest told me about it and showed me a picture. Then, later that day my girlfriend had a bed bug crawling on her arm and jumped on her shirt where she was able to crashed it after a few attempt. We told the people working at the hostel and they said that the already new about the issue, but they weren't telling the guest which I thought it was very unresponsible.

My partner and I had to leave where we had reserved a room at the last minute, and Hostel Du Nord was extremely helpful and accommodating!!! It was clean, quiet, and comfy. It was so great to have someone try to help us out of a bad situation (bed bugs).

Hostel du Nord is een downtown Duluth-hostel met een sterke praktische kant: een ruime keuken, gemeenschappelijke ruimtes, lockers, bedden met gordijnen, leeslampjes, stopcontacten en een locatie dicht bij Canal Park, cafes, winkels, musea en bustoegang. De dormsetup kan meer capsule dan klassiek hostel voelen wanneer de kamer rustig is, met bunks en cubbies die wat persoonlijke ruimte geven. De sauna en cold plunge zijn hier de standout. Ze veranderen het verblijf van simpele budgetcrashpad in iets herkenbaarders, vooral na een lange dag rond Duluth of een vroege raceochtend. Staffervaringen lijken gemengd. Cody en Jason vallen positief op, en hulp kan vriendelijk, geduldig, gul en easygoing zijn. Tegelijk kunnen check-in en baliebezetting inconsistent zijn, en een paar staff-interacties klinken koud of onprofessioneel. Verwacht een oud gebouw met trappen, gedeelde badkamers en een dormindeling die niet voor iedereen werkt. Schoonmaak loopt van heel schone badkamers en gemeenschappelijke ruimtes tot problemen met vuile kamers, tapijten, badkamerprivacy, geuren en het plunge pool. Prijzen en eindkosten kunnen minder aantrekkelijk voelen dan de headline-prijs.
Signalen om te checken
- De ingang kan lastig te vinden zijn en kan duidelijkere bewegwijzering gebruiken; hij zit tussen winkels, tegenover Holiday Inn.
- Er is geen lift, en sommige bedden of kamers vereisen trappen.
- Opslag bestaat, maar kan onhandig zijn als je grote bagage hebt.
- Lawaai, geuren, temperatuur en beveiliging kunnen wisselend zijn.
- Stellen die hotelachtige privacy zoeken kunnen de kamerindeling te open vinden.
