Colliers Hotel

Low budget hotel in a good area. Close to coach / train / bus stations. Shops 5 minutes away. NHM, V&A, Buckingham and Big Ben are less than 40 min by foot. Great for a few nights stay while visiting London. But ... its a low budget hotel, people. Don't expect luxury. We had a room in the basement where there was no signal (wifi is not free), I did find some bite marks on my back from bed bugs and the view from the window was the hallway and the room next door.... but it was warm, sheets were clean, hot water at all times and it was quiet.

El lugar es realmente pequeño, apenas se puede cerrar la puerta del baño estando dentro, pero eso es lo de menos. La primera noche notamos picores por el cuerpo, pero pensamos que era sugestión por el lugar desagradable en el que estábamos. No es hasta nuestro viaje de vuelta cuando nos damos cuenta de que estamos llenos de picaduras pequeñas seguidas (suele ser común en picaduras de chinches que salgan horas después). El lugar se desentiende del problema diciendo que no hemos dado aviso en el momento en el que estábamos y que no es cierto. Las picaduras son de la cama. No recomiendo nada alojarse en este sitio insalubre, tanto por los chuches como por el espacio inexistente entre wc y cama.

I could feel the springs in the bed a little bit. Also, something bit me on my arm a couple of times. Not sure if it was a bed bug or spider or something else.

HORRIFIC. Found a BEDBUG in the hotel bed on the morning of checkout. I reported to reception immediately and showed them a photograph I took (I also placed an upturned glass on the sheet to capture the bed bug so the staff could see it). Receptionist did not apologise. I suffered from multiple bedbug bites which grew itchy and irritated in the following days. I raised the issue with booking.com and the hotel agreed to compensate a mere £50 (just 25% of the cost of the overall stay). When I requested a full refund, the hotel denied any trace of bedbugs despite the evidence I had presented to them. I followed up with a call to the manager who was outrageously rude and kept interrupting me. He initially denied the presence of bedbugs at all. When I referenced the photographic evidence, he accused me of carrying the bedbugs, stating "people like you" bring bedbugs to his hotel. Needless to say, I have not suffered any further bites since leaving the hotel. The hotel manager has refused full compensation for this horrendous stay. I have never left a negative review for anything before. My experience with Collier's Hotel has been truly abominable, both in terms of basic hygiene, health and safety, and in terms of their extremely unprofessional, aggressive and accusatory response to the issue I raised. I would not recommend to anyone.

Sabíamos que la habitación y el baño serían pequeños, sin embargo, lo es aún más de lo que parece en las fotos. El baño es una especie de cabina de obra dentro de la habitación con todo unido (mismo espacio para ducha, lavamanos y retrete). Lo peor sin duda, la limpieza, la habitación estaba llena de manchas en las paredes de anteriores huéspedes, las sábanas sucias y con agujeros (nos las cambiaron únicamente 1 vez en 4 noches) y para acabar la experiencia, encontramos insectos en la cama (parecían chinches) durante 3 días consecutivos. El hotel no debería estar abierto hasta cumplir unos mínimos en cuanto a higiene.

Bedbugs. I just stayed here with my boyfriend and despite checking the bed, woke up to find bed bugs crawling on the sheets at 1am! We packed up immediately and went downstairs to return our keycard only for the worker on a bed behind the counter to tell us that “they weren’t there yesterday.” No refund, we walked out and ended up paying so much more to find a clean hotel at 3am and had plane tickets for the morning, so we hardly got any sleep. The only good thing about this hotel is the location, which doesn’t justify lack of cleanliness and bed bugs. Save yourself the stress and hassle and book somewhere else.

Reviews are correct regarding how small /narrow this facility is ( and yes the toilets are tiny ). However, it is practical and functional for the price ( especially for us student budget travellers lol! ). If you’re planning a romantic get-away to London then no this isn’t a ‘ pretty ‘ establishment - although with investment it could be a really lovely compact venue ! - but it has everything you need for night(s) in the city like we needed after a 10 hour flight from canada before returning to the midlands. Only saw one member of staff, he was nice enough, bed was clean and fresh, room a bit dusty in the corners by the windows but then I’ve stayed in ‘ hotels ‘ above pubs which were bedbug infested, with white stains over the carpets so it’s really not that big of a deal! Seems like other reviewers booked this place expecting a bit more, but for London price ranges, it’s silly to assume for the price you can book here for. Practical and was a great nights sleep after all the travelling ! Thankyou :)
