Carolina Hostel

Lost for words but no one working there when I arrived and people sleeping all over the floor in the common areas. I hope this was a one time thing due to the concerts and they “accidentally” overbooked. Left immediately.

O pior atendimento da minha vida. A casa é boa, mas é mal administrada. Lucas é grosseiro e mal-educado com os hóspedes. A cozinha não tem utensílios suficientes para todos os hóspedes. Não há locker para todos. Pode ter um disponível ou não. Muito desorganizado.

This hostel is a disaster! The dorm is terribly dirty, with broken door and a window with silk that never gets closed, so the dorm gets very cold at night and the smells of cigarettes/weed from smokers outside gets in the dorm beside the loud voice from outside and lights from cars. Bathrooms are terrible, one does not have hot water and the other which have hot water has the cold water tab in shower broken, so you either shower with cold water in the cold water bathroom or boil in the other!

DO NOT BOOK!!! On arrival the staff were rude and we couldn’t pay by card as it states online. Once we brought cash they didn’t have any change and didn’t seem interested. We arrived at 5pm (2 hours after check in time) and the room was not ready! The beds weren’t made and they came in sweeping mess up. The door of the room would not even shut properly, not secure at all. The lights in the bathroom wouldn’t work, the kitchen was totally unclean constantly. Also showers were freezing co...

Personnel nonchalant, pas de bonjour, aucune présentation de l’auberge… Le dortoir était sale et ne correspondait pas à ce que j’ai payé (dortoir de 6 personnes au lieu de 4). Présence de cafards dans la salle de bain qui était vétuste et ne semblait pas être bien nettoyé, tout comme la cuisine sale et en mauvais état Je ne recommande absolument pas, à fuir.

I choose this hostel because I wanted something cheap since I was only staying for a night. When we arrived there was no personal, we had to call him and only then did he arrive after some minutes. You can’t pay with card even though the app says so, the personal also didn’t have any computer or whatsoever, so I had to show him my reserve in my phone. I think the room we chose was overbooked, so we where driven to another hostel (which was actually really nice)

Horrendous. I arrived, had to wait 45min for them to tell me that the private room I booked had flooded so they put me (female solo traveler) in a male dorm. Some of the beds did not have curtains anymore and the bathrooms were dirty and broken. All the lockers in the dorm were occupied and I was not allowed to use them. Staff does not speak English. People were sleeping on the sofas in the common areas.

Het hostel was erg oud, helemaal geen faciliteiten, de kamers konden niet eens op slot en je had nergens plek om je bagage op te bergen. Verder was alleen gewoon heel slordig

Franchement je ne recomande pas aux filles. J'ai vraiment eu peur, il y avait un homme vraiment bizarre, un client, qui rodait dans l'auberge. Il me fixait avec intensité. Le dortoir des filles ne se fermait pas. C'etait une mezannine qui donnait directement sur le dortoir des garçons. Autrement dit les hommes passaient dans mon dortoir pour aller dans leur leur. Nous partagions la salle de bain. Bref, pas cher, personnel sympa, mais à mon sens : pas sécurisant.

This is a fine hostel. Nothing crazy special. But the bed was cozy and the showers were nice and private. However they only take cash which is inconvenient, you should take card! It’s a quiet hostel which is good for a nights sleep but if you’re looking atmosphere it wasn’t really here

Positiv ist der niedrige Preis und für ein/zwei Nächte ist es auch okay, aber man hört im Zimmer die ganze zeit ca alle 30 Sekunden ein piepen, außerdem lief in der Dusche durchgehend die ganze zeit das Wasser. Wir haben es auch gemeldet aber niemand hat sich drum gekümmert. Das Personal war absolut unmotiviert aber nicht unfreundlich. Es gab im ganzen Zimmer nicht einen Spiegel und in der Ecke vom Bad hat es geschimmelt. Der Kühlschrank war viel zu klein und roch schon beim Öffnen gammel...

The hostel is very basic with good customer service. Everything is very clean and there is good internet service. It is well located in an area with nice parks and green spaces. It is within easy walking distance of the San Pedro Mall and a convenience store, AM/PM nearby for fruit, sandwiches and toiletries.

Very nice staff, quick service and clean facilities.

If you’re an adult looking to stay in San Jose for a bit, this hostel has the best energy/ambience. People in this hostel actually want to stay and see San Jose rather than just stop through on the way to Fortuna or Tamarindo. The owner/host is the main employee, and he’s much chiller and nicer than employees at other hostels in the area. Stayed in a private room and had a good experience. It was very clean, secure, and pretty central. Bed was a bit hard for my taste but my partner who likes a firmer bed loved it. The staff was super flexible and very helpful and kind, but sometimes there weren’t enough front desk staff, so we had to wait a bit if we needed something from the front desk. Friends who stayed in the dorms (in a separate building) didn’t have a great experience. I’d recommend booking the private rooms.

Vi stannade bara här för en kväll för att ha någonstans att sova innan flyget. Bara några minuter från Hostelet fanns det trevliga restauranger och området kändes tryggt. Hostlet hade ingen kortläsare men mannen i receptionen ordnade så att vi kunde betala med kort ändå!

Nice place - very convenient as it is in close proximity to everything. Would easily stay there again.

The rooms and bathroom are very dirty. There are no facilities to make food. The staff were absolutely lovely except they didn't knock before entering our room. There are no locks for the rooms

Für den Preis absolut solide Unterkunft. Viele ältere Menschen und Personal nicht zuvorkommend, für kürzere Aufenthalte absolut ausreichend

Precio-Calidad está bien, pero el alojamiento no está en el hostal.. está aprox 10 minutos en pie (aunque te dejan en carro allá)

Its a basic hostel... ok for two or three nights. Rooms are clean but the bathrooms and the kitchen could be nicer.
