White Rose Hostel

Check the amount you need to pay in LKR before visiting. I knew I only had to pay 1800LKR and they tried to charge me 2300LKR. The reaction when I pointed that out really made me think it was a common thing they try (esp because they convert from USD) to see who falls for it. Also there were no locks on the doors, the rooms are very hot without airconditioning & the stairs are very narrow which made it hard to climb 3 flights with my bag. I feel bad saying this but don’t stay here.

Hat mehr verlangt als auf website angegeben, weil er glaubt einen anderen Wechselkurs zu Verlangen zu dürfen. Das Zimmer war extrem heiß mit einem Mini fester, aber zum Glück hab es sehr viele Mücken. Zudem kann man sein Wasser dort nicht auffüllen... schlechtestes Hostel/Hotel in dem ich als Backpacker war in Sri Lanka.

You have to pay for the AC and if you want to leave your luggage there it’s 2$ an hour. There is also no social aria except of the roof top.

The location is okay and the staff very friendly. However, the beds are really hard, there is mold everywhere and the hygiene level is quite low. Would not recommend staying here

De medewerkers in het hostel waren erg aardig en behulpzaam en daarnaast was het hostel erg schoon. De privé kamer had alleen geen fatsoenlijke ramen, doorluchten en naar buiten kijken was hierdoor niet mogelijk. Ook was er alleen een van en was de airco 5usd extra per dag…

Since the moment you step in you can smell the mold everywhere. There is no airconditioning. The place is very humid, and after laying in the bed for 1 hour with the window open I tasted mold in my mouth. The owner did not have any understanding. I paid for the room but left right away and booked something else.

I would not stay here again, because the hostel smelled very very bad. When I walked in my first thought was: I can’t sleep here. Even my towel smelled disgusting. Besides that, the people who worked at the hostel were friendly and you get what you can expect for the price. It’s not a social hostel so if you want to meet others you have to be lucky with the people in your dorm.

okay for one night. Chill that it's close to the city center and the train station. Not a social hostel. It's strange that the ground floor is the owner's living room. He was watching TV without a shirt on. I had to find my own room and bed. You have to be back at the hostel before 10:30 p.m.

Owners were all so friendly and helpful, super clean, walking distance to all the top spots in Kandy. Would really recommend!

Perfect for a night in Kandy if you want to be close to the city and the bus station. Not a social vibe, but rooms were nice. Shower was cold though

Basic but clean, really good central location, beds hard, rooms have ac, never actually worked out how to get a hot shower and it's the type of shower which soaks the whole bathroom. Main thing I disliked was the atmosphere, the gentleman who owns the hostel sits in the entrance with his family watching TV all the time and constantly asking where you're going when you leave, won't let you sit inside and every time I came in told to go and sit on the roof terrace. Only 4 girls staying so quiet

Perfect place to chill before a silent retreat. The owner let me store my bags here when I arrived before check in and gave me food and activity recommendations. They had the cleanest bathroom I have encountered in my 4 months of traveling Asia. The rooftop was great to take calls and relax at.

Room is clean and the owner provided free AC during those really hot days free of charge, which is really a PLUS. Good location, within 10 mins walk to the bus station. The area is safe to walk back alone at 9pm. Overall, good value of money.

Super Hostel! Wir verbrachten als Zwischenstopp eine Nacht bei dieser total authentischen Unterkunft. Die Familie ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Sie haben eine Auflistung mit vielen Aktivitäten, Restaurants, etc. die besucht werden können. Das Zimmer war sauber und hatte eine Klimaanlage. Wir würden immer wieder kommen!

Die Unterkunft wird von einer Familie geführt. Sie geben viele Tipps und Ideen dafür, was man in Kandy alles tun kann.

Kein Hostel um sich dort vor Ort aufzuhalten. Recht kleine Zimmer, dennoch ausreichend. Badezimmer und gesamtes Hostel sehr sauber! Um Kandy anzuschauen und nur um dort zu schlafen, reicht es völlig aus.

Friendly family-owned hostel in Kandy. Bathrooms were pristine. Nice balcony to chill or eat and there’s a breeze which was nice in the heat. No aircon unless you pay for it, but there is a fan in the room. Hostel can help you book tours, figure out buses, etc. No laundry service, but there’s a place about 15 minute walk for 400LKR/kg.

Really enjoyed my stay here! Sweet family, super friendly and always happy to help. The place was very clean, and I liked that my room was cleaned every day. The location is perfect too—everything is within walking distance, which made getting around really easy.

Ein bisschen versteckt. Sehr sauber und freundlicher Besitzer. Wir hatten ein 4er Zimmer mit AC. Die Dachterrasse ist abends schön.

We had a private room with two single beds and shared bathroom for one night. We very happy with everything. Location was good and we could walk from and to the bus station. Staff was friendly and recommended some nice spots and helped with public transport information. Place was very clean and had a nice roof top.

The rooms were a bit basic but was very handy to have the little locker for valuables. The bathroom was super clean and big. I enjoyed the rooftop area and would've used it more properly if I had stayed longer. I really appreciated all the information on what to do when I arrived.

Really enjoyed our stay at the white rose. The host was very friendly and helpful, giving us recommendations for things to do and places to eat. Room was very comfortable and AC is available if needed. Conveniently located, walking distance to everything. Cute cat also! Would stay again

We had a very pleasant stay here! Super clean and comfortable and the hosts were just the best. Super helpful and kind. And they had a really really cute cat. The location was absolutely perfect right in the middle of Kandy city but tucked away. Highly recommend if you decide to stay in Kandy.

We really liked our stay, sameera and the full family were so hospitable and nice, theire havens good suggestions what to do and when. We just walked anywhere from the hostel and it were pretty fine. The room were clean, the rooftop were nice to hang out after buisy days.
