Very bad experience. The Room we stayed in had bed bugs.

Security was laughable. The ground-floor room had 2 giant windows accessible by a balcony that would be extremely easy to climb up to, and the windows had NO locks on them whatsoever. Bathroom smelt like manure at all times. Shower was very small, so anyone in a larger body would struggle to fit. This is listed as a budget 2-star hotel, but it should be closer to one star.

It’s good for the money. There were definitely NO bedbugs like some guests claimed. The room was a bit cold and we could hear the people above us walking around in the night. But for £45 night in Edinburgh I can’t complain. Staff were nice.

I am disappointed by the room... I understand it's a low budget hotel and I was not expecting a great comfort but... I thought I'd have a minimum of cleanliness... I found bedbugs on my bed and apparently it's not the first time someone notices bugs in the rooms... meaning the cleaning is not done regularly... Apart from that, the room was big and nice. It is a pity for the bugs.

Where to begin ? First of all, let me say that I work as a receptionist in a 4 star hotel so I know a few things about hotels. At first, we liked room 4 as it was spacious. Then, when we got to bed, my friend noticed a bedbug in her bed. Soon enough, we found a few of those little insects on our beds and mattresses. When we complained to the receptionist (who seems to be sleeping more than working), he told us he didn't know what bedbugs were ! A bit strange, considering that a lot of hotels have been infested with them over the last few months but maybe he has not watched the news in a long time. We then asked for another room but the hotel was full. This, we can understand as it is not their fault. What isn't right is to have the manager on the phone telling me to find somewhere else to sleep if I'm not happy at 11:30 on a cold night, when we're already in our pajamas. I said no, and that I wanted AT LEAST a partial refund for the room. The manager then promised that he would be there early in the morning to do it. After spending a night trying to sleep in a chair and in the shower (for my friend), lo and behold ! No one is here to refund us and the receptionist tells us there will be no refund and that if we want to talk about it, we'll have to wait until 10 when the "manager" arrives ...with a plane at 11, that was simply impossible... When we checked the reviews, we saw one from May 2023 on Booking.com complaining about bugs in room 4. Which was the room we were in. The hotel answers (in a particularly rude and aggressive way) that they are beyond reproach and that the rooms are bugs free. I would sure love to see those hygiene certificates ! On the same review, the guest added a picture of earplugs on the floor behind the bed (picture 3). Well, 6 months later, they are still there so the rooms have CLEARLY not been cleaned thoroughly in all this time (picture 4) !

🚨🚨🚨BEWARE OF BEDBUGS🚨🚨🚨 TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. There were bedbugs in our beds, we had the room 4 (see the pictures). And the receptionist was rude and unprofessional when we asked him to call his manager for a refund. He LAUGHED at us when we gently told him we couldn't sleep in the beds. I had to sleep in the SHOWER and my friend on a CHAIR. This is a shame. The room was DIRTY and has not been cleaned in a while. We saw an earplug behind the bed that has been there since at least May, as a review from Booking can attest. We asked for a refund but the manager refused to come and see us in the morning (he apparently lives far and couldn't be there in less than 3 hours). So we paid £70 a night to sleep on a chair or in the shower.
