Hostel experiences I think largely are dictated by who is staying there at the same time as you & how you get along. I think if there was a reception or any sort of staff visible there would be better respect, cleanliness and overall experience. I would probably never stay here again.
Good staff, Bad location, bad service and not clean
We were disappointed upon arrival to find that the deposit we had already paid through the website was charged in addition to the full room fee. This was surprising as usually a deposit is a part of the total fee you pay, not an extra. Since we stayed for 4 nights this extra cost ended up adding nearly $200CAD to our trip - not what we had budgeted for. Unfortunately the staff were unable to help us with this in anyway, and we likely will not book through the website again.
Stayed in other hostels in the same neighborhood and this was easily the worst. No reception, so no information or support, and not even the option to rent a towel. Common areas are very limited, toilets were extremely dirty & showers were cold and the beds are old and noisy.
I didn’t enjoy the cafe, because it was never open. The kitchen was messy, and I didn’t like that there was no staff presence. I hoped to switch rooms at one point, even upgrade as my bunk mate was coughing without covering their mouth very excessively and extremely sick. I felt uncomfortable with the lack of staff. The location was pretty far from most restaurants and downtown, and the bathrooms were limited/always occupied
Nice location, but lack of staff was a real problem. Couldn’t store our luggage when we arrived, was difficult renting a towel, and one of our beds was cleaned up and its things removed before our check out date.
Prices were high for a hostel, especially one having no actual reception onsite. They did respond to emails fast. But there wasn't much that was walkable in the immediate area, the cafe in the same building wasn't open in the morning the day I was there. Showers only had one temp, scalding hot. Honestly the best part of my stay was the fact that there were very few people staying at the hostel, so I ended up having a room to myself. There were also families with kids staying there, which was odd
Good location and safe. Not enough shelves, no hooks, and very little storage space for personal belongings in the dorm rooms. Squeaky beds which made noise and disturbed other guests. No hooks, shelves, or benches in the showers. Nowhere to put ANYTHING in the showers. Shelves and hooks are needed in showered. Dorms need a rubbish bin for easy cleanup. 8 people per dorm is too crammed- not enough space for the price of a dorm bed
It’s my first time in Iceland and I didn’t know the city. The location is too far from city center where life happens and the price doesn’t consider this matter, there are other places to stay with a better location near downtown. There is no personal at all. Everything is self service. We have to talk we the very nice girl on the cafe and she could help but she didn’t know at all. The kitchen was almost everytime dirty. The beds are to fragile and any movement is transfe...

Clean, secure. Instructions were clear and the communication was prompt. Was a little hot the first night, but I think someone opened a window in the lobby and the second night was cooler
Easy self check-in No locker directly in the room, only outside the room, which is not super convenient We did not meet any staff so can’t really say on that front Coffee/bar opens late in the day so we could not eat breakfast on the spot which is also not super convenient Overall it worked for what our needs were but not above satisfactory
I enjoyed this hostel, but the stove in the kitchen would not turn on and there is no oven, though there is a microwave. Street parking was available, and we enjoyed the bar/cafe next door, as well as the pastry shop. The bathrooms and showers are single stalls within a sink area, which is worth noting.
Location is about a 30 minute walk to downtown Reykjavik. There is a public pool 5 minutes away. Restaurant next door along with coffee shop. Property was clean and fun atmosphere. Nice location if you want to not be in the hustle of downtown and there is free parking all around the hostel. Would stay here again

Ich würde das Hostel auf jeden Fall weiter empfehlen! Bin der Buchung bis zum Check out hat alles bestens geklappt!!

The hostel is quite small, but the room are spacious, and the corridor has many lockers. There is one shared bathroom with 4 showers, 5 toilets and 4 small sinks. Actually small enough to be a bit awkward to use. The shared kitchen is also quite small, but functional. I was only disappointed to find that they separate trash only as bottles, paper, and all the rest together, mixing plastic and organic trash... not good.

Quiet hostel on the outside of the city, bed was comfortable and it was easy to check in, supermarket right next door
un hostal demasiado cómodo

We were very pleased with our stay at Laekur Hostel. It was easy to find and to get inside, and we were also able to reach the staff quickly. The facilities were great and we cooked in the kitchen every night. It was clean everywhere and the people were friendly. Overall, a very great stay.
Hostel is located about 30 mins by foot or 10 mins by bus from downtown. Instructions for checkin are sent via email and very well explained. Room was clean, bedding was clean, facilities also very clean. Kitchen also clean. There’s no staff to welcome you but that doesnt really matter. We were a group of 2 females and felt very safe the night we stayed there. There’s not a very social vibe in the hostel, because the “common area” is right acrosa the facilities :/
Was a nice enough place, I found it a bit strange there was no staff at the hostel and you have to ask in the cafe next door. They were nice though. Also be aware you should pay in full before arriving because they email you a code for the front door and your room which I didn’t do and it stressed me a little. Location wasn’t bad I should have looked at how far it was from places. But a lovely area in general.
There was no staff the coffee shop next door dealt with enquiries but they were very helpful
struttura molto bella e pulita, non in zona centrale alla città si Reykjavik, ci sono pochi market nei dintorni, servizi ottimi
bed comfy, room clean, however theres no staff there to assist you.Price should be lower if theres no staff to assist when needed. it’s bit of scam in that sense. I left my expensive headphones behind, it was during the middle of the day so should’ve been easy to collect, but since there were no staff there I could not collect them before my flight…very disappointing and selfish that they cannot help a guest who paid for multiple nights. They didn’t offer any help at all. Solution = hire...
Really great stay! The communication was always very quick and they were extremely accommodating!! Would definitely stay here again.
