The Central House Porto Ribeira

Worst hostel ever!! I have been to many hostels, it is unpersonal, NO KITCHTEN, NO good common areas the common areas are always almost empty. The bathroom has not even something to hang a towel. The bathroom is basically inside the room, so to get ready it brush your teeth it will be in public, the bathroom has no sink. The sink is inside the shared rooms. They promised me to return the money, that’s why I left after two days instead of five. The money never got returned. Horrible service!!

J’ai effectué une réservation qui m’a été débitée et on m’a demandé de refaire une deuxième réservation (avec la première remboursée). L’hôte d’accueil m’a assuré que je recevrai un remboursement et ça fait 1 mois que je n’ai pas de remboursement. Cet établissement est malhonnête.

Overall, I don't recommend it. This is the first hostel that charges this much money for luggage storage. Luggage storage costs 4.5 euros for the first hour and 0.5 euros are added for each additional hour. Also I spent 2.5 euros on towel rental. Contrary to what was announced, welcome drinks were not provided. The hostel staff gave me the wrong meeting location for the pub crawl, so it started an hour later. While I was taking a shower, staff urged me to leave due to repairing of shower room

this hostel doesn't include a kitchen so not everyone like eating outside i have another problem which is they didn't want yo give me a legal entrance that i have right to order it

Dei ladri: ogni occasione è buona per spillare qualche soldo. Abbiamo pagato complessivamente 194 euro per due persone per due notti nel dormitorio misto a causa di un errore della struttura. Ovviamente i soldi vengono sottratti automaticamente dalla carta di credito, per cui ci hanno lasciato con una bella sorpresa senza che potessimo fare niente. Oltre a questo: ambiente formale e poco conviviale, pulizia pessima (tipo peli sulle lenzuola).

Very nice and well located place. I truly recommend and definitely I will come back there

located in the city centre, a perfect starting point for sightseeing and super friendly staff! however, the bathroom in our dorm wasn't cleaned during our 4 nights stay and it was also really loud during the night (the hostels is located directly next to a busy street)

Dirty, expensive, AVOID. Stay elsewhere! Better deals can be had for SURE. Shared bathrooms in the 10-bed dorms were not cleaned once during my 3-day stay. Communal bathrooms were likely uncleaned for even longer; the smell of stale urine was overpowering. Shower drains don’t work so the bathrooms flood. While the location is right off the Ribiera, the hostel backs onto a major car thoroughfare so it is very loud at all times (including late at night).

I stayed with a friend. We left for the day, and I left on my bed some of my night stuff: My new hydroflask, two chargers, my pyjamas. My friend left things too. When we came back, not only me bed was tidied, as if there was suppose to be a new person, but all my things had disappeared. Nothing was touched on my friend's bed. The staff told me there had been a mistake, the cleaning service thought I was leaving and changed my sheets. As nothing of my friend's things on the bed had disappeared, t...

The fist night we stayed there, I got bites and I asked for another bed. The girl on the reception reacted super annoyed and unfriendly. Even if I got another bed in the end, since that night I have a skin disease/plague and neither the doctor nor the hostel could gave me any further information yet. This costed me already so much money, nerves and time. I wouldn't recommend this place.

Great location

One of the best hostels I’ve stayed at. Clean rooms with bathroom inside. Free breakfast every morning. Lots of food. Super close to the river and a short walk to all of the cathedrals. Will be booking their other locations when I travel to Barcelona and Lisbon.

I don‘t like that you have to pay extra for luggage storage. Usually this can be expected for free at a hostle

Nice area. The nightlife in Porto seems a bit too chill. Didn't try the pubcrawl as there weren't many people. Porto surprised me because of the cold. Very pretty city but disappointed as there wasn't much to do besides drink and eat.

It is very well located, with a delicious and varied breakfast included, and the staff are very friendly. I had the opportunity to chat with Victor and he was very attentive and helpful. When I asked to change my bed because I felt that the mattress had a bad smell, they allowed me to do so. The curtains on the beds allow for privacy. I would only suggest checking the humidity in the bathrooms, and unfortunately, even though the bathroom was cleaned every day, guests quickly make it dirty again.

Great location and reception (packed me to go breakfast, let me check in early), comfy beds (curtains). Employees advertised bar crawls/tours, so it can be social but don’t expect that (read the other reviews). Had to pay for earplugs and wait in line to shower. Other guests: be mindful of late night/early morning use of bed lights with open curtains that light up the room (you have a phone torch or can close the curtains) and making noise (no hairdryers at 2am!) since you share the space.

Good hostel. Breakfast was nice and beds were comfortable and private. Not the most social if that’s what you’re looking for. Great location for the river but an uphill walk to most other things.

This is amazing hostel for this price with great location and clean rooms. beds are comfy and we had breakfast included. Plenty of options for breakfast and it was pretty good. I absolutely recommend this place, thank you guys!!!

Amazing location for a solo traveller and first time visitor to Porto. Staff at the front desk were always friendly and helpful.

heat hostel!! super clean and room was great. lots of room in the lockers under bed and curtains were great. 1 bathroom with 2 stalls for all 13 people in the room but i never had any issues. location of this hostel is what sold me. absolutely 10/10 right downtown porto!

Einige der Schließfächer sind defekt, uns wurden aber auf Wunsch direkt neue Betten zugeteilt. Die Betten sind gemütlich, die Schließfächer sehr groß und das Frühstück in Ordnung.

Great place to stay in Porto. Free events such as Port tasting and karaoke. Good lockers and great buffet breakfast. Would stay here again!

This is a great location in the heart of Ribiera Porto. We had a 10 bed mixed dorm that was supposed to have two bathrooms within the dorm. Only one was working. This would’ve been good for us to know in the beginning but the staff didn’t seem to care much about this. One bathroom for 10 people was difficult and dirty. Clean, open, comfortable workspaces, many people were welcoming but truly to themselves. I LOVED THAT 🥰. Location was a dream.

Super zentral gelegenes Hostel mit tollem Frühstücksbuffet! In den Dorms gibt es im Zimmer gemischte Bäder (2 duschen und 2 Toiletten), die hatten schonmal bessere Zeiten, aber sauber.

It was ok, the location is pretty because you are right by the water. Check in takes awhile, a long line when I arrived. The room was narrow but decent, the bed was comfortable. I enjoyed the breakfast it was one of the best I have had at a hostel. Decent stay
