Balmers Hostel

Pros: * Decent social vibe, lots of common areas and a bar to hang out in. * It's next to a bus stop * Lots of activities scheduled Cons: *Check-in isn't until 4pm and checkout is a mere 10am. Pretty crappy hours. *The walls and floors are paper thin, and people don't seem to respect the 10pm quiet time. *You're expected to strip your own bed at the end of the stay and bring the bedding to the lobby. *It's expensive AF for the value provided. * Pillows are disgracefully thin and crap...

Not the type of hostel I was looking to stay at. It is definitely a party hostel and not for those you want a relaxing place to end your evening. There were a bunch of annoying frat boys. My food was stolen from the fridge even when labeled. The frat boys did not get quiet after 10 pm like they were supposed to. Bedroom were very hot to sleeps in and i went in early June so it was cool outside. The one group activity hosted by the hostel is club night where they open the bar and night 2am.

the hostel doesn't look like a party hostel on the pictures and in the description it says that it's quiet after 10pm. While in actuality, it is a party hostel and if you wanna get a good night of sleep and plan to go hiking please look for accommodation somewhere else

not cleaning for the bed! And many insects there ! Got serious allergies!

I was very disappointed by my stay at Balmers. This might be a good place to stay if you are 18-21 and looking to party. The first night I stayed there, alcohol was littered everywhere (including in rooms). The common area spaces are nice, but the rooms are bare and the beds are uncomfortable. I couldn’t sleep until 2:30 am because their club doesn’t close until 3 am and you could hear the bass/people from the room. No locks for belongings provided. Mal trato del personal a la hora de la reserva, el lugar aunque sabemos es un Hostel, confirmamos que tiene una Discoteca que no permite descansar y luego de que cierra por la madrugada toda la gente sale y entra al hotel. Sabemos que la atmosfera es bonita para jóvenes, pero no en plan de descansar moderadamente, nosotros frecuentamos hostels por todo el mundo y este lamentablemente nos llamo la atención para mal por el costo, le queda grande, recomendamos ver más lugares por la zona.

The best vibe and ppl at any hostel I’ve been at, stunning scenery and lovely staff BUT the facilities were just unfortunately just so so bad - almost every shower was broken + only had cold water, only last for five seconds so you had to lean back on the button to actually shower. Downstairs area social and hot tub were lovely and comfy but beds very cramped and rooms cluttered as no bag storage. The rooms were extremely hot, no fans and none of the aircon work. You can’t open the window for air because it’s extremely loud until 2am because the outdoor area is right in front. Plus the mosquitoes are so bad if you open the window. The beds were one of the most uncomfortable I’ve slept in at hostels, was better to not even have the pillow. Close to train station and 20min walk to centre which was the only good thing

No hot water supply, noisy ambience, good for backpackers who wants to meet new people, but I don’t like it.

This place is a hectic yet well oiled machine. Props to their housekeeping staff for keeping it pretty much spotless. Even though the houses themselves are a bit old, the facilities like kitchen and showers are up to date. Would easily stay here again. As a solo traveler, you have to go out of your way to meet people since there are a lot of groups but I would recommend fully

Eines der besten Hostels in denen ich war und ich plane definitiv wieder zu kommen! Es war super sauber, gab gute Events zum beteiligen, die Mitarbeiter waren super freundlich sowie lustig und es war super um neues Leute kennenzulernen!!!

First ever hostel and it was amazing. A great impression that probably won't get lived up to with other hostels. Beautiful backyard and peaceful, friendly vibes all around. I didn't want to leave! :)

La verdad imposible ponerle menos de 10, en todos los aspectos, excelente espacio, seguridad, personal, buena cocina, muy limpio y funcional. Agradecer a Darío, wilson, y los chicos españoles por la buena onda y la predisposición para todo! Recomendado 100% no solo para los jóvenes sino también para personas un poco más grandes pasados los 35/40, camas cómodas , mucho espacio para uno mismo, la verdad de 10, reserva con tiempo porque vuelan las habitaciones

The atmosphere is very social, with organized activities every evening that make it easy to meet other travelers. There’s under-bed storage available, and you can purchase a lock for 5 CHF if needed. The kitchen is spacious and fully stocked with everything you need to cook. The staff were consistently friendly, welcoming, and helpful. I would stay here again!

Such an amazing, cute hostel. staff was so friendly and helpful. bathrooms always clean. only thing is i wish they had curtains on the beds. other than that PERFECT hostel!!

Very hot but otherwise very good!

I enjoyed my stay at his Hostel. Overall, it was clean, respectful, organized and definitely very different and better than other hostels I have ever stayed at. I had a couple of experiences that weren’t as pleasant. One of them was a staff member coming in the room without knocking to announce to my other roommates who had already left that check out was at 10AM while I was changing. absolutely fantastic hostel, perfect for backpackers (even solo backpackers like me) as it has a super social and friendly atmosphere. Its super relaxed in the day time and in the evenings they do events like pub quiz and drinking activities

The second best hostel I've ever been to!! This hostel was cozy, warm, energetic, clean, modern while also being rustic, and great amenities. Has an amazing view and has great, multiple, social spaces. Would come back here 100%! Thank you for this awesome stay!

Loved this hostel! It was super cute, clean, and the staff were super helpful! It was about a 20 min walk to the train station.
