Shaka Garden House Langkawi

Very bad experience, one of the worst I’ve had traveling. On arrival, I waited 40 minutes because the owner was not there. When he arrived, he didn’t give me the key and kept me waiting outside, despite me saying several times I was exhausted after a long trip. The money/change situation was horrible: first day “no change”, second day he gave me less money than he should. My motorbike was moved without permission. I wanted to leave, but I had already paid for a private room. NOT RECOMM...

Overall a nice and quiet place. It hosts 4 people at once so it’s not the most social place to meet other backpackers. The host ist very friendly and open to help at anytime but we were not too happy with the boatride he offered us. We paid 200 MR each for a 3 minute ride to an island right next to the mainland which was very dirty. During our stay the shower drain was clogged so that the only bathroom was flooded the whole 3 days. Breakfast was bread and jam but bread ran out on the 2nd morni...

Our stay at Shaka Garden was pleasant, the area has some great restaurants and is a close walk to the beach. I'd definitely rent a bike to explore the island as there isn't too much walking distance activities in the area. The hosts are lovely and accommodating, the hostel was quiet (only space for 6 people) which we didn't mind. I'd happily recommend!

We stayed in the bunk room for 4 nights. It had two fans, but was cool enough. The staff were super friendly and helpful, Pp even took us to some waterfalls and would take us out each night to dinner to try the local cuisine. Jep the guard dog was super cute and liked escorting us to the beach. They had so many activities like archery, books to read, games as well as kayaks to rent. Fully equipped kitchen for all your cooking needs as well as bread and condiments to use for your breakfast.

It was Hari Raya, and we were invited to join the celebrations! Pipie and Qee took us to a lot of beautiful spots around the island and we watched the sunset together every day 🥰 We would definitely recommend going here!! This garden oasis is truly paradise. First of all the space is so well kept and clean. I loved meeting all the different locals that stopped by to hang and to music jam. If you are looking for nature and chill vibes, this is your place! We had the best camping experience, even though we had no camping gear. Because we all went together, they show us the most amazing spots. Thank you for everything!

I couldn’t recommend this place enough, it’s a home away from home and ran by the most genuinely lovely guy Mr PP! As a solo female traveller it can feel a bit scary travelling to a new place but I felt so safe and comfortable here. A special place to stay. Pipie has a genuine passion and care for the beautiful island and the many things there are to do here. His kindness and hospitality meant so much to us. Our room, equipped with double bed, aircon and fan was all we needed with a shared bathroom with warm shower with great water pressure. It’s great, I love the place. Recommended for anyone seeking to have a vacation in Langkawi. Easy access to 24 hours convenient store. Location is near with Tengah Beach. Lots of restaurant and cafe. It’s also next to Alami Langkawi cafe which you can have a coffee and chill at the garden. Highly recommended 👍🏽

Shaka is the perfect base to experience the beauty of langkawi. Piepie and kee welcomed us like friends and it felt like home quickly. Our time with them and the time exploring the hidden places together with Piepie, really fed our souls. If you love exploring nature, enjoy the simple things, music, food and community, then Shaka will be the perfect place for your stay. This is my second stay at Shaka and it’s so lovely! The hosts are so welcoming and helpful, Pipie will show you all the best spots for food, sunset and memories! The whole place is kept very clean and tidy, with a cool surf aesthetic. Would 100% recommend, especially musical/creative people!
