   This is not a Hop Inn location, hence the Hop Inn at Nathan Road name to avoid copyright. The location is 168 Youth Co Loving. If you don’t speak a lick of mandarin or cantonese, their script goes like this “the room you booked is bad and we have to fix your reservation” then they ask you for more payment. If you don’t want to pay, they will ask for a 5-star review as a favor. We arrived at the hotel earlier than our companion, we already knew this was a possible scenario (being asked to pay more) but we declined to pay more and just pay the early check-in fee. A few hours later, one of our companions arrived to check-in, they tried to hustle 6,000 HKD out of her to “fix” her reservation. We decided to negotiate for her, then I guess the guy at reception realized we were her companions and lowered the fee to 1,000 HKD. Reasonable, but still what an annoyance. The rooms aren’t even that bad size-wise, but they definitely need to be renovated or refreshed a bit. Our bathroom was decently clean, no molds or questionable dirt and what-nots. WIFI is decently fast enough to watch shows and download files with heft (even at night). THE ELEVATOR, my gosh, the damn elevator that takes forever to service people. Longest wait time I’ve experienced was 13 minutes. The line could go as long as 30 people waiting at a busy hour. Saving grace of this hotel, the location. Easy access to most of the places we wanted to go to and quick 2-3 minute walk to train stations. If you book this hotel, make sure to insist not paying extra. It helps if there are a lot of you to strong arm the negotiations. Because the more people who can leave a bad review, the better the negotiations will go.

   The staff were rude. They asked us to leave a review first—even though we hadn’t seen our room yet—in exchange for temporary luggage storage. They also body-shamed my friend and asked us to pay extra because he is plus-size. On top of that, they locked our door and forced us to pay HKD 500 for a stained linen.

   The reviews are inflated because they won’t hold your luggage for free unless you leave a 5 star review. Pros: Great location right! Right next to the metro with lots of restaurants around. Housekeeper was quick to change our bedding when I informed them it was stained when we checked in. Very good sound proofing despite being on a busy street! Cons: Super small and firm bed. Sink was cracked held together with moldy duct tape and toilet hinge was broken. Reception isn’t very responsive over text. Long line for elevator. There a lots of other hostels in this building so I’d encourage you to look through others!

   Feels Like a Scam, Not a Guest House Please don’t be fooled by the pictures or the fake 5-star reviews — this place is a total nightmare. Everything about it is misleading. There’s no proper signage, no hygiene, and the entire building feels like a commercial slum divided into hundreds of tiny, filthy rooms. There’s only one lift for guests, and you literally have to wait 15–20 minutes just to go up or come down. The so-called owner sits on a different floor and has a separate lift for himself, which regular guests can’t use. The corridors are dirty, smelly, and filled with garbage, wet clothes, and dustbins outside every door. It’s unhygienic beyond words — the whole place stinks. The owner is extremely manipulative and dishonest. He tricked us into paying much more than the actual room cost and promised a “better room” only if we gave him a 5-star review. Once you do that, you realize it’s just another scam — the “better” room doesn’t exist. This is not a guest house, it’s a scam operation in the name of accommodation. Please avoid this place completely — it’s unhygienic, unsafe, and run by a person who takes advantage of tired travelers.

   Miserable Experience, Please Avoid This Place I don’t usually write reviews like this, but this experience was honestly horrible. The pictures and description are completely misleading. The “room” I got wasn’t even a proper room — just a single bed squeezed into a filthy, broken space. It felt like staying in a slum. Everything was unhygienic and uncomfortable. What made it worse was the owner’s behavior. He’s a young guy but very shrewd and dishonest. I was exhausted after searching for the place for hours (by the way, there’s no proper signboard or name — it says “Hopin” online, but there’s nothing like that on the building). When I finally reached, he tricked me into paying almost double, taking advantage of the fact that I was tired and just needed a few hours of rest before my flight. Then he told me he’d give me a “better room” if I gave him a 5-star review. I agreed at that time only because I had no energy to argue — but I’m writing this now to warn others. The whole thing felt like a scam. Please don’t book this place. It’s not just bad — it’s unlivable, and no one should have to go through this kind of experience.

   前台服務很好，我不小心訂錯了房間，他幫我解決了問題，很感謝，酒店的地段，是市中心，很繁華交通好方便，有很多國家的菜式，和家人一起去旅行可以選擇這間酒店，去旅遊景點實在太方便了。
