Black Swan Hostel

La experiencia en el lugar fue buena. La mayoría del staff fueron amables, atentos y dispuestos a dar sus recomendaciones como locales. Mi sugerencia sería que refuercen el tema del respeto para con otros huéspedes ya que durante mi estancia, hubo personas que durante toda la madrugada estuvieron haciendo muchísimo ruido y fue prácticamente imposible dormir (sé que esto depende más del huésped que del lugar). El lugar está bien para pasar una o dos noches. Algunas partes de las instalaciones (como los baños), lucen viejas y descuidadas. En general la limpieza y orden ok (sin embargo, había marcas de “bed bugs” en algunas cortinas y camas. Por la noche hay cena y actividades con las que se genera comunidad, consideren registrarse :) La ubicación está buenaza! Puedes ir a varios lugares caminando o en su defecto, tomar el transporte público muy cerca.

It is unfortunate I have to rate it so low because the staff are mostly lovely. Unfortunately, the hostel is dirty and is clearly very money hungry. There was cockroaches in the downstairs living room, and I have recieved several bedbug bites during my stay. I had emailed previously to secure a bunk with my girlfriend, and they confirmed it. However when I got to the hostel, the receptionist said we were in separate rooms. She offered no apology and just said see tommorow. The toilets are ridiculously tiny, my knees were touching the door at all times. The staff come into your room each night to try and get you to join the bar crawl, even if you are clearly not interested, curtains closed etc. I imagine they are pressured into getting as many people in as possible, but it makes it uncomfortable for everyone. I have stayed at many hostels and this has been not great.

Honest review to follow: I stayed here for one night only and decided to leave after the AC stopped working overnight and I was bitten by bed bugs in the female dorm (100% sure it was this hostel and that the bites are from bed bugs). I am sharing this to warn other travelers. I have stayed in multiple previous hostels and was not happy with this experience. I had high hopes for Black Swan Barcelona due to reading the reviews prior and for the price, I would have expected more. The floors were also gritty/dirty. The bathrooms smelt strongly of urine. The shower room was humid ++ and hot. The other people staying in the female dorm had their stuff strewn everywhere in the room (hard for staff to manage this). The staff were actually really helpful the whole time I was there and were understanding when I asked for a refund and to leave in the morning but sadly I cannot recommend this hostel due to the issues stated above unless these are remedied. I am feeling particularly gutted about the bed bugs and am now in a significantly nicer hostel for less $$. Pic is of the corner of the bunk - didn’t see any live bugs but possible evidence of remnants and dirty. So disappointed and frustrated, bed bugs are disgusting.

TLDR; bed bugs. Do not stay here. You can find many other places at a much higher standard for less money. Aircon broke and was ~30 degrees overnight. I stayed in the female dorm and was bitten by bed bugs (definitely from this hostel and definitely bed bug bites) which was terrible and the first time for me (have stayed in many other hostels). Floors were dirty, bathrooms smelt, shower rooms were humid/hot/dirty floor. I asked for a refund and left after the first night but had booked 3.
