I've never experienced such a cramped hostel. We booked a private room, the room was 8-9 square meters, with no space to move around. The room had such an unpleasant smell that we had to sleep with the window open at night. The duvet was full of stains. The common areas were dirty and run-down. The bar plays loud music until midnight, making it impossible to sleep. There's no elevator. We paid almost $90 a night for a room that was worth no more than $40. A terrible experience.

Never gave a bad rating before, but I had a really bad experience here. It was so disgusting, no one cleans the rooms and it was so messy and dirty. The bathrooms are awful. The whole facility stinks of alcohol and cigarettes. My room was always unlocked, which the visitors from the open bar downstairs had access to. No air con and so hot in the room it was unbearable to sleep. I had booked 10 night but ended up booking a hotel instead, and still had to pay for the remaining hostel nights.

Lo mejor del hostel es el ambiente, los huéspedes. Hay un ambiente muy bueno y ayuda muchísimo a socializar la mesa de pool. Los colchones se hunden, las camas no tienen enchufe, ni luz ni cortina. No hay ventilador ni aire acondicionado (hay 1 ventilador de pie que al de la cama de arriba ni le llega). La habitación tiene una sola luz en el medio q si la prenden te parte la cara si estás en la cama de arriba. Te dan la sábana limpia, la cama la haces vos. La limpieza es muy pobre.

Disgusting place! Be aware of bed bugs!! Worst hostel ever. The rate online was high compared the others. I paid 34$ per night and I think is a real scam considering the conditions of the whole place. The rooms are absolutely filthy: Dirty mattress and shits, the pillows were stinky, to don’t mention the couches and common rooms are disgusting. One of my flatemate had an infection at one eye and the pharmacist told him that was because of the pillows and others got bed bugs bites!

Probably the worst hostel I’ve ever been. Apart from everything being veeeery dirty people stayed every night parting until very late right next the dorm doors. Doesn’t matter if you wear earplugs, music out loud and everybody screaming way past midnight on a Monday. The noise from the pub isn’t even that bad, it’s the common area. Guest smoking on the inside common areas. Extremely uncomfortable beds. No wifi. Only two toilets and two showers. No plugs.

Really not worth the money. Dirty everywhere

Staff were nice, but that's about it. Staying here seems like time traveling back 20 years: common areas are dirty, walls cracked,toilets broken and covered in grime. This hostel could be nice if it had a renovation and a deep clean. Noise from the bar below might bother someone trying to go to bed before midnight. The kitchen was so gross I didnt even try to cook there. There are so many better hostels in Melbourne, don't stay here unless you have to.

Nicht zu empfehlen. Das Hostel ist sehr dreckig jeder lässt seine Sachen überall liegen. Die Lebensmittel verrotten in der Küche. Die ganze Küche ist dreckig. Mäuse laufen auf dem Küchenboden rum. Der Gemeinschaftsbereich ist komplett vermüllt. Die Zimmer sind in einem Art Gartenhaus auf dem Dach montiert und sehr sehr klein, sowie extreme Hitze darin. Erster Eindruck ähnelt einem dreckigen Bahnhofsklo. Wir sind lieber im McDonald’s aufs Klo gegangen als die Toiletten zu betreten.

One of the worst hostels I’ve stayed at. The rooms and the common areas were dirty. Only two toilets for all the hostel and three showers. Also it seems like the people that were there where long term guests and they took over all the common area. The people at the bar/the hostel were also loud and we had difficulty to sleep. We’ve also had people steal from our food bag even though it was correctly labled. I would not recommend a stay here, I guess the good thing was the price and the locat...

there’s a lot of long term guests in this hostel, so the rooms were a bit of a tip with stuff everywhere. they were friendly, but i wouldn’t recommend for solo travellers / travellers trying to make friends. the long termers kept to themselves a lot and make a lot of noise and smoke at night in the common areas. the staff are lovely and toilets were all very clean with good showers. the kitchen was quite dirty and messy however, though still very usable.

The best hostel I’ve stayed in. The staff are amazing and provide top class service. Very engaging activities within the hostel, making it easier for solo travellers to meet new people.

Overall a great place to stay for the price, staff were friendly and accommodating, facilities were really good and it felt really safe. The atmosphere was good and location also really central with an aldi across the road which was very handy - definitely recommend staying here if you’re in Melbourne

It was decent value but the atmosphere props up the rating

Social lounge area which made it easy to talk to get to know other people staying in the hostel - lots of friendly people staying. NB: lots of long term residents too. 8 bed room felt cramped and did not have any AC which meant that after a hot day the room/lounge area were stuffy and really warm at night making it hard to sleep despite the door and window being open 24/7 (often lots of noise from outside). Would avoid if getting a good nights sleep is important to you. Pros: easy to socialise

Place was ok at best. Dirty, run down, full of long time tenants. I wouldn’t choose to stay here again if i had the option. The bar area however, is sweet.

Great location! rooms were an okay size, kitchen had all the essentials even an air fryer! only complaint is the cleanliness of the bathroom however would 100% return

Lovely spot. Clean showers. Homely feel. Nice staff. Above an Irish pub.

The room was very unclean and it was obvious that it hadn’t been cleaned properly for at least a month. It was not possible to lock the door while inside. One of the sinks in the kitchen is falling apart all the time. They were very specific about checking out before 10 but we ended up waiting for them for 30 minutes. Arriving with jetlag is not recommended, one afternoon there were loud scary, sexist chants outside our window coming from the pub downstairs.

Great place to stay when settling into Melbourne! Super close to North Melbourne train station, lots of buses, and the city centre. Pub downstairs is great fun with lots of events on and cheap beer! Lovely cafes nearby too. Basic but does the job.

This is the best hostel in Melbourne. The staff are so helpful and kind. I have stayed here for three months and have no plans to leave because I love it that much.
