Chicago Parthenon Hostel

This was a really depressing hostel.

very boring

This hostel sent me an email two days before I arrived to tell me the hostel had converted to a shelter and I could no longer stay there. They had arranged for me to stay in an old, musty airport hotel 50 minutes outside the city instead! It was marathon weekend so no other accommodations were available in the city. This totally ruined the planning I had done for my stay.

We kwamen daar aan en het hostel bleek ineens gesloten te zijn. zonder ons iets te laten weten stonden wij in achterwijk van Chicago tussen de zwervers. Als 2 jonge meiden voel je je dan zeer onveilig kan ik je vertellen. Na 100x bellen kwam de baas van het hostel en die vertelde dat we overgeplaatst waren naar een ander hostel. Wij wilde dit niet en hebben ons geld terug gevraagd.

Avoid. I was OK with the spartan rooms, lumpy beds, & middling cleanliness of bizarrely laid-out bathrooms. Dealbreaker was the staff's handling of a broken doorknob/lock to my room (my 2nd night there of 5). Doorknob got sledgehammered off & I was basically told to live with it. For next 3 days, had to yank my door closed by pulling on two bent chunks of metal anytime I left the room. Staff brushed off requests to provide some kind of discount, saying, verbatim, "we don't have to." Cool hostel.

I booked this location several months in advance and upon arriving they said that my room was overbooked. i understand that mistakes happen and technology malfunctions, but it was incredibly frustrating that it happened.

Great staff, okay location but horrible building... AND a homeless man guy slept in our room 2 nights in our room... the building itself smells horrendous

Bunk beds are old and squeaky . Very painful to sleep on. Also room has no AC.

The place is clean but , they don’t have ready my bed when arriving at hostal at 8 am and it’s was close the door👎them at 11 am they open the door for guess..they talk me comeback in 4 hours more for give you your keys 👎and also they don’t have the offer to get a breakfast and anything about the food .They don’t have parking and In the room the AC never works we have only one fan in a room with 8 beds we are in summer now and all the buildings is warm 😕. I think never take this...

Stayed 2nights in female dorm. It’s fair compared to negative reviews. Beds are okay to stay and I felt comfortable. Well this is my personal opinion as I have stayed in mixed and female dorms. But female dorms are more noisy as women don’t care much about others esp when they are asleep. My sleep got disrupted due to fellow mates walking walkout and door banging. Washrooms are clean and hostel is safe. Gas is missing and no kitchen facilities except microwave and coffee kettle.

The hostel is very conveniently located. It is in the center of everything. The Staff is nice, friendly and very helpful. I actually over-stayed. I lost a suitcase and they were able to recover it and give it back to me. The only thing I did not like it were the beds, not that comfy not that soft, but apart from that it is a very good Hostel

La ubicación es realmente fantástica.

Overall, that was a good hostel. The thing that was a bit frustrating, is that all the power outlets were not working properly and some of them (personal ones near each bed) were not working at all. That's a big problem when you're travelling all day and need somewhere to charge your phone, but you can't leave it plugged by itself or it might stop charging or not charging at all.

The hostel was decent, a bit pricey for what you get. Amenities were basic but clean.

The facility was relatively clean, but the coffee machine was old and the place could use some renovations. A bit pricy for the shared dorms, not to mention the cost of the private rooms - cost more than a hotel!! My overall rating, 3 out of 5.😀

There is no AC. The beds are old and worn out. I felt the middle support bar under the mattress the whole night and my back is in a lot of pain from it. The lockers are a little on the small side, so if you have a lot of stuff, you may need to use more than one or only lock special items up. The shower water pressure was weak. It’s not wheelchair accessible. The building is locked and they give you a key fob for building access and a key for the room. There are practica...

For the price it’s fantastic. The location is perfect and the beds are comfortable. I came during a heat wave, and it was really hot, so if you’re sensitive to heat I would look elsewhere.

Overall was a nice setup. Beware there's no A/C units, at least in the room I stayed in during a heat wave so I barely slept. Bathrooms were pretty clean except someone partied to hard one night (can't blame the staff).

The place was nice and quiet. Only suggestion for improvement would be bedrooms doors that automatically lock since my roommates didn’t always lock it, however it was a great stay and I would stay here again

It is a great hostel with amazing staff in the heart of Greek Town. It's very clean and cozy. Great Location with easy access to public transportation. I highly recommend it.

Buen lugar

Las instalaciones están un poco anticuadas pero para pasar un fin de semana está muy bien. Son 3 pisos sin ascensor así que hay que ir mentalizado de subir escaleras.
