+ The room was ok but very close the street.

- I would strongly advise against asking the hotel staff for excursion information or trusting people they introduce you to. At first, a girl from the hotel tried to sell us the Prison Island and Nakupenda excursions at a very high price — around $95 per person, which she said was the hotel’s official rate. Later, she introduced us to a friend of hers, and after speaking with him we paid much less. Unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. I had specifically asked for an Italian-speaking guide, but the person we were assigned didn’t even speak English. As a result, we had to join other groups and listen to their guides just to understand a bit of the history. His only goal was to rush us through Prison Island and Nakupenda as quickly as possible and then leave. Nothing was properly organized: no food, no table, no seating arrangements. Once we arrived at Nakupenda, he was literally trying to gather food here and there from other people. Overall, it was a very poorly organized experience and not professional at all. I do not recommend relying on the hotel for excursions, nor trusting the people they introduce for these activities.

- Το πρωινό για ξενοδοχείο 4 αστέρων ήταν απαράδεκτο. Ζεστό νερό ανύπαρκτο. Παροχές μηδαμινές. Από το ταβάνι έπεφταν σοβάδες.

- Les prestations ne sont pas du tout à la hauteur du prix payé : pas d'eau chaude, petit déjeuner minimaliste, literie inconfortable, fuite d'eau de tous les toilettes de l'établissement

+ An sich ein hübsches Hotel in guter Lage und mit freundlichem Personal.

- Es fühlt sich an, als wäre alles feucht. Leider nicht zu empfehlen.

- WiFi is not available in the rooms, no window in the room, the toilet seat was broken, bidet was dirty, the bedsheets smelt of damp and made our sleep difficult Unfortunate as this hotel has great potential.

+ Το προσωπικό είναι πάρα πολύ ευγενικό και πρόθυμο να σε εξυπηρετήσει. Η τοποθεσία του ξενοδοχείου είναι πάρα πολύ καλή μεσα στην Stone Town.

- Τα δωμάτια ήταν πολύ μικρά. Σεντόνια δεν μας άλλαξαν 5 ημέρες που μείναμε. Πετσέτες έχουν μόνο σώματος. Το πρωινό ήταν κάθε μέρα το ίδιο και όχι ωραίο. Οι παροχές δλδ του ξενοδοχείου για 4 αστέρια είναι μηδαμινές.

- Lenzuola sporche, evidenti macchie abbastanza grandi. Questa la cosa più grave. Il bagno non è una stanza a parte ma è praticamente incluso in un unico open space con la camera con una piccola parete alta circa 1 m (quindi più bassa del soffitto) come divisore. La nostra camera affacciava su un’area comune e non era quindi possibile aprire la finestra. In generale la pulizia non era ottimale. Rapporto qualità prezzo non buono, non quanto l’abbiamo pagato (non poco…)

- De bedden waren steenhard, de kamers klein en muf. Van het plafond vielen stukjes af wat best gevaarlijk was. Wifi was waardeloos. Ook in het restaurant was de wifi slecht. De prijs was bijna €100 per nacht. Te duur voor wat je krijgt. Personeel was wel vriendelijk. Ontbijt was dagelijks hetzelfde en best simpel. Het werd bereid en voor je neergelegd. Er werd niet eens gevraagd hoe je je eitjes wilde.

+ We loved the architecture and decoration of the firefly. The plunge pool was perfect after walking through the streets of stone town. A highlight for us was the roof top breakfasts. Staff are so welcoming and helpful.

+ Séjour absolument magnifique à Stone Town ! L’hôtel est idéalement situé, en plein cœur de la ville, ce qui permet de tout faire à pied. Le lieu est tout simplement magique, plein de charme et très beau, avec une atmosphère unique entre ruelles, mosquées et vie locale. Le petit déjeuner était excellent, un vrai moment de plaisir. Les espaces communs sont superbes, notamment le rooftop avec une très belle vue, et la petite piscine qui est parfaite pour se rafraîchir. La chambre était confortable, avec tout le nécessaire, y compris une douche chaude, ce qui est très appréciable. En résumé : un endroit magnifique, authentique et dépaysant. Je recommande à 100 % !

- Chambre très humide (avec l’odeur d’humidité qui va avec), mais cela fait partie du charme de Stone Town et de son climat. J’avoue que cela m’a fait me lever plus tôt que prévu, mais cela reste excusable.

+ In a great area of the city. Staff was amazing. Very unique decor and historic building. The pool was great and so was the rooftop restaurant. Lots of spots to sit and lounge.

- Lack of privacy in the bathroom. No door.

+ Η τοποθεσία του καταλύματος μέσα στη Stone Town ήταν εξαιρετική και πολύ βολική για να εξερευνήσει κανείς την περιοχή. Το διαμέρισμα είχε πολύ όμορφη διακόσμηση, η οποία σε έβαζε πραγματικά στο κλίμα της Ζανζιβάρης και της ιδιαίτερης ατμόσφαιρας της Stone Town. Ο χώρος ήταν καλαίσθητος και δημιουργούσε μια ευχάριστη εμπειρία διαμονής. Επιπλέον, το προσωπικό ήταν ιδιαίτερα φιλικό, πρόθυμο να βοηθήσει και γενικά προσπαθούσε να εξυπηρετήσει σε ό,τι χρειαζόταν. Ωστόσο, υπάρχουν κάποια σημεία που θα μπορούσαν να βελτιωθούν. Η τουαλέτα βρισκόταν ουσιαστικά μέσα στον ίδιο χώρο με το δωμάτιο χωρίς κανονική πόρτα, καθώς έκλεινε μόνο με μια κουρτίνα. Παρότι αισθητικά αυτό ταίριαζε με το ύφος και τη διακόσμηση του χώρου, λειτουργικά δημιουργούσε κάποια θέματα ιδιωτικότητας και πρακτικότητας. Επίσης, το Wi-Fi δεν λειτουργούσε σχεδόν καθόλου, κάτι που δυσκόλευε τη χρήση του κατά τη διάρκεια της διαμονής. Συνολικά, πρόκειται για ένα πολύ όμορφο και ιδιαίτερο κατάλυμα, με εξαιρετική τοποθεσία και πολύ φιλικό προσωπικό, που με ορισμένες βελτιώσεις στη λειτουργικότητα του χώρου και στη σύνδεση στο διαδίκτυο θα μπορούσε να προσφέρει μια ακόμη καλύτερη εμπειρία διαμονής.

+ The place is magical thanks to the design which is so interesting and unique! June the receptionist cat was adorable even though she’s completely a diva😻 The fish of the day with the coconut sauce was too good so I had to order more then one time🙃

- Maybe I wished to hear more chill low background music, sometimes it was too quiet for me

+ De Dames van de Receptie waren bijzondere behulpzaam en elegant. Helemaal boven in het Hotel is een dakterras. We werden Super geholpen door Yassin en zijn Keukenbrigade. Stone Town is een fijne, mooie en veilige Stad om rond te hangen. Bedankt Firefly

+ A great hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. The decor is very authentic and very comfortable rooms. Just to say the bathrooms are in the bedroom with just a curtain between you and the toilet but we did not mind that. I would also say this hotel would not suit anybody not able to climb stairs, as the roof top restaurant has a fair few steps up and a final spiral staircase at the top.

+ This hotel is a triumph of style over substance. It looks amazing, beautifully styled, lovely little touches and the roof terrace bar is absolutely gorgeous but....

- it's complete impractical. Only window in our room opened up onto a public terrace. Bed base is built of concrete and there is very little floor space. If you fell over you'd crack your head open on the bed. Nowhere to put a suitcase, a couple of pegs to hang clothes, no drawers. Switch for bedside light operates lights on both side of the bed so if one of you is reading, the other is too. No bathroom privacy - curtain, no door. Spiral staircase up to roof terrace didn't seem particularly secure. However, we were only there for one night with very little luggage so it was ok and maybe other rooms are different. Probably worth checking before you book.
