Little Drifter Glebe

- Die „frisch“ bezogenen Betten haben stark nach Urin gestunken, das Badezimmer, Toilette, Dusche waren so unangenehm dreckig das ich in den 3 Tagen eher zur Broadway mall 20 min gelaufen um die öffentliche Toilette zu benutzen. Bin ein Tag früher ausgeheckt da es nicht auszuhalten war. Ich bin normalerweise sehr flexibel mit Preis Leistung und daher erwarte ich nicht die sauberste Unterkunft. Aber wenn die Betten stinken und das Badezimmer so eklig ist das ich mir nicht mal die Hände am Waschbecken waschen will. Karkalaken im Bett. Alles im allem, es ist das schlimmste Erlebnis das ich jemals machen musste.

+ The location is convenient and close to the city centre. The check-in process was relatively straightforward.

- I booked a private room several months in advance. However, the day before my arrival, I was called and informed that my room was suddenly unavailable due to “damage,” and I was offered a bed in a shared four-person room instead, or a refund. This placed me in a very difficult position, as finding alternative accommodation in Sydney at the last minute is extremely challenging. Interestingly, one or two months earlier I had already been contacted about possibly being relocated to a nearby building to keep my private room, which makes the last-minute explanation feel questionable and poorly managed. I had no real choice but to accept the shared room. Although I received a partial refund, the room conditions were unacceptable. There was a strong unpleasant smell, visible mould on the ceilings, mould in the bathrooms, and even the sink was flooded and not draining properly. The hygiene and maintenance standards were very poor and concerning from a health perspective.

+ The only positive thing about the hostel was its location.

- I was only able to communicate with the hostel because a friend of mine (who was also a guest there) raised the issue at reception on my behalf. I was not informed about the Wi-Fi, the room was dirty, and the bathroom was even worse. Fortunately, the room was only used for sleeping, and I didn’t spend any time there.

- Unser Raum war verschimmelt, das Bett klamm und selbst die Badezimmerarmaturen fielen auseinander. Nachdem die Eigentümerin wenig Verständnis für unsere Unzufriedenheit und die Frage nach einem intakten Zimmer zeigte, sagte sie uns, dass hier alle Zimmer feucht wären und Schimmel an der Zimmerdecke ganz normal dort wäre. Dem ist dann wohl nichts mehr hinzuzufügen...

+ Only positive we found is that there was a bus stop directly opposite the accommodation that runs into Sydney centre.

- We paid extra for a private suite and were disappointed with the room, the TV was broken and the room itself was not the cleanest with empty crisp packets and dust under the bed. While the room included a kitchen there was not so much as one cup to make a drink, no cutlery and no plates / bowls. There was also no basic coffee or water provided. When attempting to close the blinds in the room we struggled and after asking one of the hosts for help with this she took a look and the blinds fell down meaning anyone in the opposite rooms could see in. We had to ask for a bed sheet to cover the window and act as a curtain. Although the host apologised there was no offer of getting the blinds hung back up by maintenance. Instead the sheet stayed there for 3 days and the room went uncleaned during this time, with no check in on the blind situation by the host. It was also frustrating to find that the drying facilities on site were yet to be fixed meaning we had to go elsewhere off site and pay extra for laundry. While I appreciate the accommodation has recently been taking over by new owners the customer service and cleanliness of the hostel was not up to scratch

+ Good value for money considering it included a private bathroom which was quite spacious. quietish part of Sydney. Lots of places to eat just down the road. Friendly front staff Kitchen area downstairs

- twin bedding was actually bunks no lift no parking no where to hang towels (already mentioned to front desk) needs at least one chair to be able to sit down.

+ The facilities were good, a little dirty, the floors and bathroom could've been cleaner, but in terms of value for money it was a pretty good spot, good secure building, great location, easy transport around and into the city, relatively quiet place despite it being a hostel. the private bathroom and kitchenette were great. Communal kitchen was handy, so so dirty though. The 24 hour staffed desk was very helpful and informative. We were also allowed to store our bags prior to check in for a small fee, which was very helpful.

- The towels didn't dry in the room, there was no rack to hang them, we hung them on the wardrobe and shower doors but by day 2 of the stay we had damp towels. During our stay we also found and killed two cockroaches. The handle of the tap in the bathroom broke off when you turned the tap on, clearly a pre existing issue. The benches and general space of the communal kitchen was dirty as hell, the dishes were mostly clean but the surfaces were foul. There was mould or water damage on the roof of our room, unsure completely what it was, just unpleasant.
