HI Holandes

I don’t understand why this hostel has so many rave reviews. The A/C was off for 4/4 nights that we spent there, making the room extremely humid and hard to sleep in with 8 people. I don’t understand why they sell the rooms as having A/C, when it’s just one fan. The bathroom was also pretty dirty. The rooms are very badly lit, making it hard to see anything. The cats were cute, staff was nice and the free breakfast was good, but they really could improve on the rooms.

i stayed at the property recently and whilst the grounds were absolutely beautiful and most of the staff were lovely i didn’t have the best time. the air conditioning didn’t work the entire time i was there so i couldn’t sleep in my room and was forced to sleep outside. i also woke up in the morning to a naked guy in my bed which is absolutely not the hostels fault but the way it was dealt with just wasn’t great. i think the hostel would be amazing if they fixed the ac issue :)

Definitely better hostels to stay at on the island - I would say Aquario or Che Legarto. The hostel is so hard to find and up a few hills and alleys which isn’t ideal with your luggage. The beds weren’t super comfy and the power went out a few times. That being said, the breakfast was nice and it has got a nice tranquil feel. The staff were also great despite not speaking English, particularly Diago who was super welcoming and friendly, always down to do something with you.

Lovely hostel set in a quiet area in the hills. It was clean and the staff very friendly. Our only criticism was that our room was quite cramped for 4 people and it didn’t leave much floor space after luggage. Wouldn’t recommend if you don’t want to walk up the hill to there but for us it wasn’t a problem at all and it still felt close to all restaurants, shops and the pier.

Overall a nice hostel with a nice social area and a good breakfast. Also nice being given towels to use. Dorms are fine, could do with a bit of a refresh and the bathroom improved. Location is nice, few minutes walk from the main town so nice to be out of the business of the town

Ambiente y personal muy agradable. Muy buena localización y entorno precioso, para el acceso hay subir una pequeña cuesta y tramo de escaleras. Habitaciones adecuadas con locker individual. Sin duda lo mejor es el desayuno, tipo buffet y con productos de primera calidad. Lo recomiendo!

Great place, good atmosphere, everything was clean. The location was a little outcentered and breakfast could be improved. Good overall.

O hostel é excelente, o lugar aonde ele fica é lindo, cheio de natureza e fica bem perto do centro e da praia, mas não tao perto pra ter o movimento e o barulho, o que é ótimo. O café da manhã é muito bom, ia gostar que ele fosse mais cedo, ele comeca a partir das 08h00. Os quartos são bem bons e possuem ar condicionado e ventilado. Minha unica observação seria para os banheiros, só tem um banheiro no quarto e os banheiros na area externa não são muito agradáveis, visto o preço...

pretty hostel, social and chill. Very inconvenient to walk to with a backpack,you need to go uphill quite some time :/

nice hostel and lovely staff but the kids running around were so annoying and the pillows smelt awful like they hadn't been washed ever

Echt een prachtige locatie midden in de jungle, maar 5 minuten lopen vanaf de winkelstraat. De kamers worden elke dag schoongemaakt en het ontbijt is echt enorm!

Bis jetzt das beste Hostel auf meiner Reise durch Südamerika.

Hermoso hostel rodeado de naturaleza. Hermoso ambiente y el desayuno fue perfecto.

Hands down one of the best hostel I have ever been too. As a solo traveller, the hostel was very social, great breakfast and easy to meet with others. Beautiful location, close to the center but felt like being in the jungle. Great staff too!

Me encantó el hostel, es el unico que fui en Ilha Grande pero comparandolo con otro de rio me parece mucho mejor. El staff se ocupaba de que no faltara papel en el baño y de cambiar las alfombras del piso. El desayuno tiene bastante variedad. Para acceder al hostel hay que subir un poco pero vale la pena para estar en el medio de todas las plantas. Ademas el ambiente del hostel es super tranquilo si queres descansar, no lo recomiendo si buscas fiesta, pero si funcionaba para relacionarte con ...

The location is perfect. The staff is very helpful and gives many recommendations when needed. Especially Marcela treated us very well and was providing us with local information. The breakfast included is wonderful, I will come back!

A nice peaceful stay in ilha grande, social energy and easy to meet people without having the parties on site ☺️

Ich komme auf jeden Fall wieder!

It was really beautiful, and the staff was great really good breakfast. Got a little lost on the way there and the shared toilets and showers were a bit dirty. Other than that felt like I was in paradise!!

Best hostel I’ve ever been to, pictures are not giving it justice at all. Everything about this place is great, the staff, the morning breakfast, the location, … It’s like a jungle inside, full of plants, birds, cats, and great rooms, such a good place to chill and rewind.

Amazing hostel pretty much in a jungle with a cool atmosphere and nice facilities.

Très bonne auberge de jeunesse, le cadre est idéal aussi ! Et les lits sont confortables, les chambres bien plus privées qu'ailleurs, je recommande ! Ha et beaucoup d'autres personnes et de rencontres possibles

I really enjoyed my time here (especially post carnival) - it's super relaxed and laid-back here, if you want to party I wouldn't recommend but if you want to soak in the island whilst relaxing in a hammock, go here!

Good place to stay, the host and atmosphere were excellent, there was a small issue with the AC and toilets during our short stay which got fixed at our departure

I had an amazing experience at HI Holandes!! It's such a beautiful and cozy hostel and the staff is absolutely amazing!! A huge thanks to Paulo he was incredibly helpful! Would 100% stay here again
